Nope. you did not go on vacation to go to a semi-good chain restaurant. Eat local. The steak is average at best. Potatoes dishes are good, the deserts can be a little cold, the Bier is usually good, but the prices are a little nuts as are the wait time in the evening after work. Real noisy as well. Staff rotates a bit. I have been here 3x because a work colleague REALLY wanted to go or it was a group decision. a mediocre experience at best each time. read more

Steak was average and not well seasoned. Soup was satisfying but not outstanding. Salad was mediocre with average seasoning sauce -- we chose the French dressing. The garlic bread had a nice texture and garlic flavour with a crunch on the crust and fluffy and soft inside but it was a little salty. read more

First time we visited Block House(in Lübeck) we were thrilled. Over 30 years ago. I meet my future wife and we were engaged. 30 years later we returned to Lübeck and Block House. We are still married and Block House is the same wonderful restaurant we visited 30 years ago. Love you guys! read more

For non-Americans maybe I might recommend more, but for Americans I would say the steak is fairly average. Not bad, but not amazing. The price is about the same level as a typical steakhouse in the US. The seasoning on the steak could be better. I will say though that the seasonal vegetables were extremely good! Service staff had limited english skills, but they had an english menu and our waitress was bold and shameless in putting her english skills to use. She couldn't explain everything, but she definitely tried and we were grateful for her service rendered. read more

A place like this is just a relieve to visit. They have menus in a bunch of languages (like Spanish, Durch, French and Russian) and it seemed all properly (very good!) translated. The food was very tasty and the staff seemed to genuinely want to give us a great night. Watch out for the free accompanying salads though; if you eat too much of it, you will feel full when the main course comes in. And you don't want to miss out on the main course because its super delicious! read more

Petra was our server, and she was amazing. We had a steak which was too burned and she apologized profusely, gave us a free starter and returned with a properly cooked steak. All in all fine meals, but the staff was just amazingly friendly and great. read more

Walking in, I was a little worried at first because at Brazilian steakhouses, almost everyone in the restaurant is enjoying the rodizio, with waiters swarming the place with skewers of meat. It wasn't the case here. In fact, I saw no waiters with meat skewers. This worried me because I assumed the meat wouldn't be fresh. I was wrong, however! My boyfriend and I ordered the rodizio while the others got regular meals. Everyone loved their meal, and I continued to be fed meats, rice, corn, vegetables, and more meat long after they were all finished. The service was great, our server was smiling this huge smile every time he came over to give us more food. We ordered caipirinhas and they were delicious, just like I remember them from Rio. Once we thought we couldn't go on any longer, our server comes up to us with clean plates. 'What is this?', we ask. He gives a sly smile, '...dessert'. We received roasted pineapple and deep fried bananas. They were delicious and completely unexpected! For 24€, the rodizio here is a steal!

And close to medium (which I'd asked for). My companion ordered rare, but also got medium. A little tough, far thicker than I'm used to, and very tasty. Sides don't come with all steaks so I had to order bratkartoffeln. Ambiance amazing. Recommended

Leicht versteckt mit Ausblick auf das Wahrzeichen von Lübeck findet man das Blockhouse im 1 OG eines eher unscheinbaren Hauses, in der Nähe des Kanals. Ohne Reservierung brachten wir die Mitarbeiter mit der Bitte um 2 Plätze erstmal zum Schwitzen, man wurde aber fündig und wir erhielten ein nettes Plätzchen. Das Ambiente folgt dem Blockhouse Standard: offene Küche, dunkle Einrichtung, eher einfaches Mobiliar. Macht nichts, wenn das Essen passt :-) Wir bestellten: Rib Eyer Mastercut mit frischem Merrettich, einmal medium, eimal medium-well, einmal mit Ofenkartoffel und einmal mit Pommes, dazu Kraeuterbutter, als Vorspeise jeweils einen Büsumer Krabbensalat. Die Vorspeise war ausgezeichnet - der Krabbensalat zeichnete sich durch frische Kraeuter aus und bestand aus Tomaten, Gurken, Krabben und eben - besagten frischen Kraeutern, hauptsaechlich Dill. als Beilage dazu gab es das typische Blockhouse Knoblauch Brot. Das gante schemckte sehr gut abgestimmt, frisch und war für die Systemgastronmie wirklich unerwartet gut und lecker. Passend dazu die Steaks: perfekt gegrillt auf den jeweiligen Wunsch hin, die Beilagen stimmig und die Kraeuterbutter gab mit dem Steakpfeffer den Steaks die richtige Note. Erstmal was Pussydeluxe schreibt ist absoluter Schwachsinn.Meine Tante arbeitet bei Block House und kann bestätigen das es in den vielen Jahren in den das Block House schon geöffnet ist niemals Ofenkartoffeln in Folie serviert wurden und das die Bedienung unfreundlich ist stimmt auch nicht sonst wären ja ganz viele Mitarbeiter schon ihren Job los.Daraus kann ich nur den Entschluss ziehen das Pussydeluxe niemals im Block House war.Pussydeluxe schreibt nur Schwachsinn bestimmt weil sie von der Konkurrenz kommt. So jetzt zur eigentlichen Bewertung das Essen im Block House ist sehr lecker das Personal freundlich und das Ambiente ist Rustikal und etwas altmodisch aber es passt zu einem Steakhaus.Die Preise mögen zwar hoch sein aber wenn man erstmal im Block House war,dann weiß man warum die Preise hoch sind.Das in einer offenen Küche gegrillt wird passt auch sehr zum Gesamtbild des Blockhouses. Insgesamt ist das Block House für jedermann zu empfehlen. read more
