It would have been helpful if they had sent that information in advance so I wouldn't lose session time. I met my therapist and let her know the massage was for relaxation since they offer pain relief and other types. She didn't ask about my preferred pressure or any focus areas. But we got started and at first the pressure was a little firm so I do appreciate she adjusted once I shared that with her. At one point, she applied an alcohol-based substance to my feet that smelled and felt like hand sanitizer, which was very different from the lotion she used elsewhere. Then she moved from my feet to my arm -- a bit unusual in sequence -- and ended up only massaging one side of my body before stopping because time ran out. When I checked out, I shared some of my feedback with the front desk, but the staff seemed more focused on getting me to sign up for a membership package. After I politely declined multiple times, the receptionist directly asked how much I planned to tip the therapist, which felt uncomfortable.
