They only type of mead, which was disappointing. The food, however was fresh and delicious.

My mother and I sat underneath an umbrella outside on the grass sipping wine and just taking everything in. The staff was amazing. They were very friendly and hospitable. The wine was delicious. The boozy ice cream was incredible. I've tried making boozy ice cream and I've never come close to this magic! I was very impressed with the wine selection and found them to be a good balance. Nothing was too fruity and this felt like a more traditional winery than I've experienced elsewhere in the region. While I enjoyed the wine my mother opted to stick with the ice cream. I loved how or came with the tasting board and was an option! It was brilliant!

When you arrive, you realize that it really is a "cellar" as the tasting room is located in the basement of a house. When you walk in the door, it is very tastefully decorated, and very warm and welcoming. When I arrived, nobody was there to greet me, but there is a button to push, and a gentleman came down momentarily. He was very knowledgeable of his products, and told me a little bit about where he sources his honey (some of it sourced locally), and promptly started pouring me a variety of samples for me to taste. There were a multitude of various bouquets, and flavors, sweet, dry, fruity, etc., and something for a wide variety of palettes. I settled on purchasing two types, one being a semi-sweet made with orange blossom honey, and the other, a black mead made with fresh currents. These will be served at the dinner table with our holiday meals. Very cool place, and I highly recommend the experience.

I first discovered this little charming cidery and winery from my partner who had tried the cider elsewhere. Returning from Erie, he found that we'd be passing Knocking Noggin so we swung by. We've made the trip three times now. We've only been disappointed once when my partner and I bought 4 growlers for a gathering we were having and none of them tasted good. Something happened where they were either mixed or went bad in a matter of two days. I reached out to management, and they quickly responded with apologies offering to provide us with complimentary refills. We brought our growlers back just as promised and they were refilled at no charge. Some of my favorite ciders have been the seasonal ones including Butter Beer, Pineapple, and Chocolate Strawberry. Pineapple is my top one hopefully coming back in the summertime. If you have the chance, visit this place during a town festival or even when nothing is happening to just have a wine slushy or glass of wine out on the patio. One of our last visits was during a Harry Potter Festival which was fun and interesting. Whatever you're doing, don't pass this place by, you won't be disappointed.

Wilhelm Winery... is awesome. First of all, it's a pretty decent drive from the Burgh- about an…read morehour and a half. It's basically a straight shot, but a long drive none the less. The building is adorable. It's an old barn and the signage is minimal outside. They have a beautiful patio where they often host events. Their biggest ones being for Labor day and Memorial day each year. Inside, they have gift baskets, tons of wine accessories, some mixes for dips, etc... but most importantly, their wine. They have a decent selection of wines, ranging from dry to very sweet. Since I am not a fan of dry wines, I never really sampled any. The driest wine I tried was their Riesling, which I found to be super delicious. Their Fredonia is incredible- my favorite red wine. The Deer Creek White is a MUST try- it's like drinking adult grape juice. Pink Catawba is also a favorite, as well as their Cranberry Splash. The Cranberry is very tart- but I found that it mixes very well with ginger ale or sprite and is awesome to drink for the holidays. Their fruity wines are also delicious- blueberry, peach and blackberry were all very good. They also sell some of their wines in boxes. The upstairs is decorated in a "homey" manner, making it even more cozy and cute than it already is. On Sundays they have a special on their glass of red wine- $3 a glass all day. They also have happy hour each day, featuring a different wine each day. I had been to Wilhelm many times before with my family. The most recent time, the woman working was extremely patient while I sampled multiple wines and gave us some suggestions as well. The one thing I did notice is that they chill their wines quite a bit- making the wine much colder than it would be in a typical refrigerator. The ice cold wine can have an effect on your taste buds (as I have learned through many years of serving alcohol). If the wine doesn't taste the same as it did at the winery, I would recommend to chill it more than an hour or two in the fridge. Because the drive is kind of lengthy to only purchase wine, I would recommend purchasing online or waiting until an event and spend your whole day there! OR you could do what I have been doing for many years- visit Vacationland campground right down the road, and then visit =].

The kind of things I think about stopping to check out, but don't because I'm focused on the destination. So hubby suggested making one such stop on our way home - and lo and behold - Wilhem Winery. I enjoyed a tasting - very reasonably priced - and selected some wine to take home. The best part may have been the wine-making museum upstairs. Small, but really interesting. The gift shop is fairly typical of a small winery, but I always find it fun to browse. With plenty of seating, I'm sure this is a great place to hang out and sip wine with friends on a nice day.
