We used Southern Self Storage for more than three years. They were always accommodating and helped…read moremake life easy as we went through several transitions. At one point we had two units (one for us and one for my in-laws), when we closed one down, they allowed us to swap units. When my Father-in-Law passed away and we had to quickly empty their apartment, they allowed us to temporarily move into a bigger unit and then the next month allowed us to move back to the smaller one. For both of these moves, they found a unit that was close and apologized that it wasn't closer. It was perfect though because we could walk in between the two instead of having to load it on a trailer. They made one small part of the ordeal easy to deal with that and that is priceless in my book. They are wonderful to deal with and if we ever had a need to rent again, we would definitely return to them. They care about their customers and that is worth more to me than a name brand storage facility.

Lots of cameras throughout. You have to use a special passcode to get through the gate. Once punched it I get welcomed by the gate! Lol. The storage unit was very clean and they spray for bugs regularly. Zaine Dickey provided excellent customer service. He provided me with what was available, showed me my options and reviewed the prices. Zaine never pushed me to make a decision which I appreciated. The owner at this facility is the same owner as the Keep it Stored off Pitts School Road. I used to rent there so I knew I would get the same service and support. If you rent there is a small fee for processing but they give you a lock for your facility so it really evens out. Thanks Keep it Stored!

Kurt has buildings of pristinely clean spaces, perfect for storing leftovers from small homes or sprawling mansions. The security in this place is airtight and the prices are incredibly reasonable for all you get! We had to chat a couple of hours because neither of us had anywhere else to be. He's a great businessman and a wonderful human. Now not only am I trusting this business with my favorite original art, handmade quilts from grandmas passed on, and important documentation, I'm trusting that man with my friendship. And I think both those decisions are winners.

Their own confirmation screen says the rental isn't complete until you call and speak to someone in the office, because only they can remove the lock on your unit. I called six times between August 7 and August 10. Every call went to voicemail. I went to the office three separate times during their posted hours, 10 AM to 2 PM on weekdays, and nobody was there. On the last visit the "Back at 10" sign was still hanging on the door at 10:30. I texted the office number and emailed the management company twice. Nothing came back. They called me exactly once, on August 5. I missed it. That was the only contact they ever made and they never tried again. $175 charged on day one for a unit I could never open. I ended up disputing the charge with my bank and renting somewhere else. If you rent here online, understand that you cannot get into your unit until a human unlocks it, and there may not be a human.

I never thought I'd be writing out a long, drawn-out review for a storage center, but here it is:…read moremy experience with Keep it Stored is better than most experiences you'd expect from a hotel concierge or a 5-Star Restaurant. No, seriously. You look at either the reviews here on Yelp for the two locations, or the 100+ reviews they have for the two locations on Google, and the skeptic in me thinks, "nah.. there's something wrong here, they paid an SEO team to write these..." or something. Yeah... no. It really is as good as reviews say it is. And it all starts with one man: Kurt. If you read the reviews, you'll see Kurt's name a lot. He makes it a personalized experience. Did I really just use the word "experience" in a storage rental Yelp review? Well, yeah. Kurt just takes the storage experience to a whole different level. Kurt and his team get to know you and your business (or if you're renting just to have some extra space, he gets to know you personally) and persistently makes sure what his business is offering is what's best for you. Some highlights for me? Well for one, the prices they offer are better than anyone around. Hell, they're better than storage prices you'd find 80 miles outside of Charlotte. The move to keep it stored for me was more convenient than my prior parking spot (I park a trailer there). The parking spot itself was bigger and in a much more convenient format (it's a spot parallel to the curb, but it's so big, I can pull the trailer right in, and pull straight out upon arrival/departure). You even have access to an app that can open the gate for you when you're within a block of the storage center. 24/7 access is available for a very small fee (it was 5 times the fee I was paying at my prior facility for 24/7 access) and everything is imaculate. I really wish Kurt would also go into the restaurant industry, or maybe insurance, retail, package delivery maybe? At most, I'll settle for him and his team just staying where they are as the best storage solution I could have ever asked for. Believe the reviews, you're going to be very happy here.
