Sallie's Bistro If you've ever strolled the charming streets…read moreof Brussels and fallen in love with the rich, layered flavors of Belgian cuisine, you'll feel right at home at Sallie's Bistro in Dunedin. This hidden gem masterfully blends Dutch and French culinary traditions with a Belgian twist, delivering an experience that rivals 4- and 5-star restaurants around the world. From the moment we walked in, we were transported--not just by the warm, intimate ambiance--but by the incredible hospitality. The service was impeccable: attentive without being intrusive, and the entire evening felt personalized, especially when the chef came out to check on our table and chat about the inspiration behind our dishes. That's a rare and special touch. For our meal, I had the beef bourguignon, and I can say without exaggeration--it was perfection. Deeply flavorful, tender, and comforting, it reminded me of a dish I once had at a bistro in the Marolles district of Brussels. My wife ordered the pork tenderloin with a Dijon sauce, which was equally stunning. The sauce had just the right amount of sharpness to balance the richness of the tenderloin. What really sets Sallie's apart is their exceptional wine and beer selection. From Bordeaux and Malbec to Cabernet Franc, their wine list is thoughtful and ideal for pairing with the robust flavors of their menu. And for those leaning into the Belgian influence, they offer an impressive lineup of Belgian beers that round out the experience beautifully. Having been to Brussels several times, we can confidently say that Sallie's Bistro is the real deal. It's not just a meal--it's a culinary journey. Whether you're a local or just passing through Dunedin, this spot is a must-visit. Check it out--you'll be glad you did.

My luck at restaurants hasn't been all that great lately, but tonight, we turned that trend around…read more We headed out to Sallie's Bistro in Dunedin for some Belgian food. We started with a coconut carrot curry soup, mushroom bisque & mushroom toast, and fried brussel sprout salad. Our mains were a Belgian beef stew simmered in dark ale and chocolate along with pork tenderloin jager in a red wine mushroom sauce. We finished off with some chocolate mousse. Every bite was on point and we really enjoyed it. Highly recommended!

I have to say, I loved the ambiance of Gavaghans. I am not entirely an Irish pub kind of girl, but…read morewhen you are in Rome you do what the Romans do, right? And in Sebring, that means you walk into the cool Irish pub on the circle and soak it all in. The interior alone makes it worth the visit. Dark wood, warm lighting, that cozy tucked-away pub feel that makes you forget you are in the middle of Florida. It feels transported. It is one of those places in Sebring that you just have to see because it is so unexpectedly cool inside. Service was great. I was there for a quick in and out, so I sat at the bar and kept it simple with a chicken Caesar salad. Nothing fancy. For the price, it was very fair, and the flavor held up. No complaints. It did exactly what it needed to do, which was give me a solid meal in a comfortable setting without overcomplicating things. Now let's talk about Sebring itself. Sebring is one of those towns in the middle of nowhere Florida where you find yourself thinking, "I wonder what it would be like to live here?" while also scratching your head a little. It reminds me of The Villages before The Villages became The Villages. There is a concept there. It is adorable. It is charming. And most of the time, it is very, very quiet. Personally, I would go stir crazy living there full time. But I can absolutely see the appeal. And to be fair, Sebring is not always sleepy. It comes alive during major events like the legendary 12 Hours of Sebring at Sebring International Raceway, which draws racing fans from all over the world. There is also the Sebring Soda Festival, the Highlands County Fair, and various car shows and seasonal events that suddenly flood the town with energy. During those times, I imagine the entire vibe shifts. If I were to come back, it would be for one of those big events or for some serious antique shopping, because that is where this area quietly shines. Gavaghans fits perfectly into that Sebring personality. Cozy. A little unexpected. Solid. Worth stepping into. Even if you are not an Irish pub person, it is one of those spots that makes you think, okay... I get it.

We sat ourselves at a table nearest a window. The place is dimly lit. We placed our order at the bar. We did not wait long for our meal. We each had the Cesar Salad with Bacon bits and a glass of red wine. The salad was a generous portion, fresh and crisp with just the right amount of housemade dressing. We each ate half of the salad and took the remaining home. The place was quiet with only one other table seated. We were able to converse with each other in a relaxed and unhurried atmosphere. It was a most pleasant evening. I recommend Gavaghans and plan to return on a weekend when the place might have a more livelier vibe.
