So I nixed the Geek Squad and took to a local search on the Internet to see if I might find a genius who could nurse my laptop back to life and retrieve my docs. I located a local firm, Element 26, and sent an email inquiry highlighting my problem. I was pleasantly surprised to receive an email and a call from Element26 within a few hours of my initial message. By the next day, my computer was operating once more. The gentleman was able to quickly diagnose the issues with my computer and went to work to fix my machine. Amongst the things he did was help partition the computer, eliminate some of the 'clutter' and things that were bugging my operating system that caused the system to crash and/or lock-up. I consider myself fairly advanced with computers, but whatever he did was more behind-the-scenes, under-the-hood-of-the-car-esque.
