This field is a great AO. That's about it. I personally play airsoft here, and some of the interactions I've had with refs and players have been unprofessional (and that's an understatement). One, a young blonde 17-year-old (at the time) who was reffing for paintball would not stop badmouthing the airsoft players, and it went far beyond teasing. He also made fun of me for having never tried Twisted Tea (he's 17 mind you), which another ref was handing out to friends at lunch. Overall, the staff experience was bottom of the barrel, other than the people working the food station, who were nice. The field needs better refs and better organization. If it had these things, it would truly be a great place to play. read more

I went to my first event at blast camp this weekend we traveled from wi. with several Teams approximately 50 of us. First off Virgil the Owner I assume, was very pleasant and accommodating he allowed us to arrive early on Thursday night and set up camp. However, on Friday night there were supposed to be meetings for game play like medics and engineers. we were never informed by the host of the event (COBRA) of the times this was supposed to take place. We inquired for times and none were given, come to find out later they did them during the night game Friday night. The game play was horrible. For a game with rules and expected to be played with honor and fair play, According to Tweeny Cobras CO. their is no fairness in WAR....(Uhm this isn't war its a game) not to mention Cobra players handing supplies to the field from safe zones under the safety netting. (Where are the Ref's Oh there they are at the fence talking to non playing friends not playing attention to the game. another ref was sitting in a lawn chair only watching directly in front of him all weekend. I also watched a player pull the pin on a grenade in a safe zone near the main gate and throw it over the safety netting into play!!!! (Where's the ref??? no where to be seen) the player also admitted it to the refs after being called out for it and guess what? the player got a slap on the wrist for it. HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN KICKED OUT of the event period go home no refund. And yes I am the one that reported it to the cashier (Tyler I believe, who sat in the safe area for about 10 min. with myself and ended up calling a ref on the radio to find out where he was to intervene he also drilled the ref on the rules. Tyler you are Awesome Thanks for your assistance !!!) or how about three players mag dumping a player after throwing a grenade that actually hit my Son not the player that got mag dumped for not calling the hit that never hit him, he was about 30 ft from the grenade when it went off, a physical altercation that is unacceptable and should have resulted in being ejected form the game and sent home. Or when you make a complaint about game play or not calling hits or players over shooting you are told to suck it up. (No rps limits for miniguns guess how that went) and they never checked rps on any of the lmg's. player cards not punched for safety checks. But they did chrono all pistols (first time ever lol) Drunk players during Saturday night's game. Including Cobras Co. who after the game tried (While intoxicated) telling us we were all wrong about everything as far as game play / rules. Virgil I'm sorry for the bad review, its a great place and you've done a great job putting it together. but i will never play another event that Cobra hosts there. read more

While the field itself is an interesting AO and I could see it being really fun under other circumstances, unfortunately the circumstances under which I encumbered it were less than ideal. I went to this field for an airsoft event, and frankly there was a lot to be desired in how it was handled. The event was being done under Cobra Airsoft Legion and how they did so was awful. Briefing times for specific roles were not communicated, so there was a *lot* of incorrect information being passed around about how things were supposed to be done for medics and engineers. Referees were not enforcing rules, on several occasions actively ignoring violations happening in front of them despite them being called out ranging from various players not calling hits to grenades being actively thrown at people's heads. I believe that this was specific for this event as I heard someone who was evidently a regular to this field complaining about this to a member of staff. In addition, the event itself was apparently rigged in favor of one side. One team continually got information on rule changes before the other, was allowed to start earlier, and (allegedly, though I have no reason to doubt this given what I personally saw) received direct intelligence from the staff. Needless to say unless there are significant changes in how events are run going forward I will not be coming back. read more

I've been playing here for 7 years. And in those 7 years I've had a lot of fun. But not without its frustrations. Open plays are stale, same game modes every weekend. Bill is awesome, but he's also the only real airsoft ref. Paintball having multiple dedicated refs greatly increases the playability at this field as each ref is different from each other. The events are always amazing but that's cobra who is always on top of casual events in my opinion. Field is great if you don't play much but you'll soon realize much of the field is neglected by refs. I say come here if you are a beginner. Will admit it's definitely top 3 best outdoor fields in the area with the layout. Just too bad most of the field doesn't get play time at the weekly open plays.... read more

Blast camp is always fun. I only have been there twice, but both times were an experience in their own right. Virgil is a great guy and runs the business well! He is all for growing the sport and is all for magfed paintball as well. His prices are reasonable and the First strikes ARE NOT taxed up the yin yang! I know some places selling cases of 600 FSR for 300 before tax! (Taxed asf) but at blast camp you don't have to worry about that as they are sold at retail value AFTER tax. The best part about blast camp is that it is located on a historic Cold War military base. All the concrete buildings, water towers, and silos are all original and it's amazing! Definitely an experience to have. Refs are great too and they are fair. They really do care about the players and enforcing the rules fairly. They chrono everyone to make sure no one is shooting too hot and have a very reasonable velocity cap. If I weren't so far from blast camp I'd be going there more often! Keep doing what you guys are doing for the sport! read more

How do I describe Blast Camp...... A high adrenaline experience. A place for (fear) sweat, dirt, paint splatters, welts to the skin. An oasis for a group of rough boys. Cool old (BIG) military base with trails, buildings, fields, bunkers. Via Groupon, I came here with three others for an introduction to the wild world of paintballing. As we pulled in to the grassy parking lot, we came across a group of hardcore paintballers - dressed head-to-toe in camo, toting their own guns, masks, ammo. [ My stomach sank. What the H was I thinking?!?! ] Yes, I was scared / nervous / intimidated. No, I didn't know what the hell I was doing. But - the staff was very friendly and did their best to explain the rules, safety procedures, the game setups. The longer we were there, the more comfortable I felt. We rented everything - guns, ammo, face shields, chest protectors - and stayed for three hours, played four or so games, broken up into two outings on the field in different locations. There were a ton of people there, which made everything seem more chaotic. Not sure if it's always that crowded, but at one point there were 80+ people there, making the two teams pretty big. Summary: I have a few raised marks left over from my hits, but I'm not covered in bruises and I still have both eyeballs intact - so, all in all, I consider the outing a success. Would I go again? Possibly (but probably not...) Would I recommend this place to other paintball-loving individuals? Absolutely. Note: If you're going to stay all day, bring a cooler with water. Blast Camp is at an old army base which has been transformed into about 7 different courses of varying sizes and types. But even though other places have many more courses, nothing ever gets old because the refs are SUPERB at making up different games and different objectives. So even when you're playing the same course for a second time, it feels totally new. And the games they create are great, everything from capture the flag to bootleggers running whiskey/rye to four corners (capture the bases at each corner). And after you complete the match once, you always reverse sides and re-run the match. The open play group gets exposed to every course which is great. They take the group out to the course - only a short walk - and then run the course twice (switching sides) and then the group walks back. There'll be a brief gap to refill air, paint, food, etc and then you all walk out to the next course. Some negatives to point out though, the way they do open play isn't the best since they just take everyone, regardless of group size, to the same course for matches. I was there all day and the total group size varied throughout the day but we had some huge groups on some courses so I got stuck sitting behind someone waiting to shoot. Would've been best to split the group in half. The other big negative to me is that one of the games they created was simply defend the base. This was a terrible idea especially with such a large group. Especially when the base could fire directly on the opposing starting point. The refs created some awesome games, but royally screwed up this one. Overall, had a great time. And Blastcamp is cheaper than a number of the other paintball places I been to. read more

What a fun place to spend a day. Many different field styles. Friendly staff and reasonably priced field paint (Field paint only). Refs create fun games and even teams. They have a nice staging area with picnic tables and grills. They also built a brand new Pro-Shop that I cant wait to get back and see. Looked amazing during construction. They also repaired my marker for me and lent me a rental at no charge. Definitely a fun place to bring you kid or friends. read more

Just finished an airsoft mil-sim (military simulation) weekend at Blast Camp (May 20-22, 2016). Teams from all over the United States and Canada came to play. I (46) was there with my nephew(13), and had a great time. At least 300 people there from 10 to 61 years old, and about 5 of them females. Great play and objectives. My first time at airsoft. Would definitely do it again. Blast camp has big events about once a month for airsoft, and other times each month there is paintball. Definitely worth getting a pair of BDU's (camouflage pants and jacket) and then either buying or renting the rest of the gear (goggles, gun, chest rig). Staff is friendly and refs were very fair. The grounds has a great mix of old cement block buildings, railroad tie bunkers and barriers, and paths through the woods. A great place to blow off a lot of steam, and practice your hunting/sniping/run and gun skills. Also, no showers, but there is running water, hot water, and flush toilets. They are on a well, so not enough flow for showers. read more

Blast camp is by far one of my favorite paintball fields! Not only are the people who work there really nice, but generally so are the people who go to play. This is an old run down military base and each time you play they section off different parts as your field. However, if you are lucky enough or plan well enough to go during a scenario weekend they open the entire base. "fifteen buildings, five radar towers, multitude of wooden bunkers, and the longest trench system in paintball. We also have our own seven man air ball field!" I was at the May 25th scenario weekend and it was amazing! Two teams of 60 and the entire base was the playing ground. It's the best adrenaline rush popping around a corner knowing there might be 30 guys just waiting to take you out! I loved that not only did they have a major mission for each team, but they also set up smaller missions that go on simultaneously. Through-out the day each person has the chance to be a follower, a leader, and a partner, rather than some places where a single person takes charge and everyone else is expected to follow. Reinsertion times were really frequent and I can't think of a time that I sat out for more than two or three minutes. I loved that during lunch they opened the speedball field for anyone to play, while waiting for the real game to continue. I also loved that they raffled off 10 guns and a ton of other great gear based solely on your entry form for the game, no tickets to loose or extra paperwork to fill out =) Only downsides... not enough staff on hand, not enough knowledgeable staff, and the little strips that they give out to differentiate which team you are on are way too small, and often fall off. All of this only takes away one star because everything else they offer is just that good. PS Paintballs travel just as fast and hurt just as much coming from a girl ;) read more

I've been going to Blast Camp for the past 8 years and have had nothing but great experiences. But This past weekend (11/29/09) we went on our annunal Saturday after Thanksgiving paintball trip. Problems: The equiment hasn't been replaced in a long while, it seemed like we were using the same guns as 6 years ago. The hoppers were falling off, the tanks were leaking and the general apperance of the guns were old and rusty. Our referee was very nice but he was very disorganized. I would have liked to have a little more structure to our gameplay that made it more serious and fun, he just came up with games off the top of his head and added rules as we went, some were flat-out dangerous. Finally, we had pre-paid for 10 people but brought 15. We ran into a little problem where insead of 5 people paying on there own we had 6 who paid on there own, so we essentially paid for 16 but only had 15. The management was very rude and suggested we should have saved our receipts and if we weren't issued one we should have asked for one, that's verbatim from his mouth. Needless to say they did NOT refund our $30 eventhough we just spent well over $800 and have been going there for years. Bottom line, the field and the fun is not the problem, it's the people. I would make sure you set ground rules for your game and KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS. read more

This place isn't bad at all. The staff does a very good job explaining games and rules and are very strict on safety, which is a good thing. The most recent visit of mine they didn't have a speedball setup. I'm not sure if that was temporary or what but I was a little disappointed. I'm giving blast camp 3 stars because they just charge way too much for paint. You have to use their field paint which they charge $70 for a case. If I wanted to do a full day of play I'm spending at least $90 just on myself, and I have all my own equipment. read more

Just completed a bachelor party at Blast Camp on Saturday 8/27/16- We had a group of 12 guys and it was an absolute "Blast" pun definitely intended. I set up a private party for the guys and I could not be happier with the service. We had John assigned to us a our even ref and he was fantastic. He had us play 5 different fields and each field we played a different style game which every guy in the group seemed to really enjoy. The absolute best part about John and the entire staff at Blast was that they extended our event time by almost an hour. We had some issues finding the place due to a major road closure and didnt arrive until 10:00 for our 09:30 reservation. They were completely accommodating and let us get our full time in. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone that wants to have a fun weekend paintballing! read more

I've never actually played at Blast Camp, unfortunately. I worked with Virgil to book a private party for my birthday this month and he was super informative and helpful. The week before we were scheduled to play, we found out we were expecting and had to cancel. Even though the deposit was not refundable, Virgil understood that this was out of our control and I couldn't play due to the circumstances. He was so considerate and generously refunded my deposit. I sent my son and 2 friends today on the living social deal. They called at the end of the day saying their first round of balls that came with the deal were stolen. Not sure how this could be avoided in the future but wanted to put the information out there to warn others. I did call and they just said they were really busy today and sometimes that happens.
