What makes this field more special than most is that the Bergsbaken family opens up to the community to share in the beauty of the blooming sunflowers. They create trails to walk through the field and strategically place platforms so you can capture the just right photo of sun/sunflower. The field remains open to the public for as long as the flowers are in bloom. One special weekend the farm fully opens to the public and really lets you in. On this one July weekend there are crafts for sale, trailer rides, food to purchase, kids activities and of course sunflowers to purchase. The Bergsbaken family puts out a free will donation box and asks you to make a small donation in order to take part in the sunflowers. This is a sight to behold and in this socially distant world of 2020 what could be better than a walk with a loved one amongst something as bright as a few thousand sunflowers.

I was mainly looking for an apple orchard but I won't turn down a winery/cidery/meadery option as well. This place isn't very big but they really pack in a lot of product in such a small footprint. Cheese, apples, honey, soap, syrup, etc. A great place to do some holiday shopping for the foodie in your family. Daily tastings are offered for only $6 for 5 samples and you pick from grape wine, fruit wine, cider and mead all produced onsite. We enjoyed all of the samplings we tried and ended up buying a few bottles of wine and mead to take back home with us. Prices are very reasonable and comparable, especially with their products being made with local, fresh ingredients. But back to the main reason why I had come to this place, apples. I was on the lookout for one of my favorite heirloom apples (Jonathans) while in Wisconsin and with Hammen's offering 250 varieties of apple varieties, I was sure to have luck on finding them. And I did! It was fun to walk the aisles of fresh apples and see what other unique varieties teased my interest. And at an affordable price point (I think it was only a couple dollars per pound), it was really easy to be adventurous and try out a few new to me types. I'm dropping a pin on the map - this place will definitely be a fresh apple pickup destination for me and the family seasonally. Well worth the road trip!

The bed had comfortable pillows and an alpaca wool blanket, the room had a heater and TV, and shampoo, soap, and towels were all provided. We can't wait to go back and enjoy their wines again. Their flights are incredibly reasonable at four for $10. They also have a wine club you can join. Highly recommend!

I'm not a fan of dry wines, but I'd gladly buy any bottle they have there. The aroma on the Frontenac is enough to make you want to purchase a case, and that's no lie. There's definitely a reason that they have award-winning wines. BECAUSE IT'S SO WORTH IT! If there's anything you want to know about the wine-making process, the ingredients, the time frames for aging: the staff is so knowledgeable and friendly it's unreal. The wine-tastings are free, unless you try the special Ice Wine, due to it's limited quantity and the skill/precision it takes to make. (Still it's only $3 to taste). The beginning of September 2026, we purchased two wine tastings ($18.96), two packs of 8 little crackers ($4.00), one ice wine taste ($4.74) and a case of Rock Legend wine ($186.12). At checkout she combined everything together and I told her I only wanted to tip on the tastings. Next to the 10% button on Square, it displayed $22.22 and she said that was the tasting total and that is what the 10% tip would be on. On the way home I realized it sounded high so I checked my emailed receipt and saw she charged the 10% tip on the case of wine also. I called her immediately and she assured me she would credit my card back the $22.22. She never did. So she lied to me. Also, after I paid for everything at the store, I wanted a $2 bottle of water. I didn't have any cash on me and she told me that it was a minimum charge of $15 to use my credit card. I asked her for a glass for water and she told me that the water at the winery wasn't drinkable.(???) For the overcharge on the wine, she could have offer me a $2 bottle of water for free. Also, when you order your wine tasting, she gives each person a wine glass acting like it is included in the tasting. NOT! She will charge you $4.50 for the wine glass. (Still trying to figure out why she would give you a glass for a wine tasting that is already in little plastic cups.) Just BEWARE of all the "extra" charges that she will try to collect. Oh, BTW, this is my third case of wine I've purchased from them in a year. This happened on my first purchase one year ago, but I didn't notice it until it was too late, that's why I questioned her this time. The other one was purchased on-line. Just BEWARE!
