Needless to say I did not go with them. I searched on Next Door Camano and found that Berger Fence came highly recommended. When I contacted him, Mike [Berger] was working on a project less than a mile from my home and he came down that same day. That little voice we all have told me to hire Mike. His estimate was more reasonable than the six I had received from other contractors and he struck me as a non-nonsense person with a great work ethic. When he gave me a start date, he was there. He kept me informed with texting if I wasn't home. He hand picks the lumber he uses which is a BIG plus. He is a hard worker and I love the finished project. It's already withstood two other major windstorms here on the island. I recently recommended him to a family member and he just finished their chain link fence and they couldn't be happier. The owner is very kind and always quick to schedule and get a job done. I truthfully thought that my yard would not look as good as it did after I came home and saw it. The edging of the grass, the weeding, and everything in between is done with care and looks very sharp. The only downfall is communication is hard. Not sure if he is very busy with lots of work, or if it just takes a while but through texting it can take a bit to hear back. I'm willing to allow this because this company does such great work.

When I called the office, I got voicemail and left a message. Almost immediately, I received a text from the same number. To my surprise, the person on the other end immediately told me they weren't interested. (See attached images.) I reached out to the owner again but never heard back. Several hours later, I received a call from one of their employees, but by then I'd already decided on another landscaper. These guys may be the best landscapers in Skagit County, but I'll never know, because apparently they weren't interested in my business.
