This place was so good. We hadn't eaten barbecue in a while, and it was such a pleasure to sit down for lunch here. We ordered the sausage, pulled pork and ribs. We also ordered the cole slaw, potato salad, mac and cheese, and pork and beans. The meat was juicy and flavorful. I enjoyed the ribs the most. They were well-seasoned and tender. My favorite side was the pork and beans. The beans had a lot of flavor and were mixed with shredded pork. They also provide four sauces at each table. They are the Creole mustard, root beer, espresso and chipotle. I liked the Creole mustard the best, but all the sauces had nice flavors. The dining area was clean and the staff were nice. This place is fantastic! Best barbecue I've found in Louisiana that rivals some of the best of the best barbecue places I've sampled from Texas. The brisket was the perfect texture and was moist and delicious. The pulled pork was equally as good. The portions were great and satisfying. They have a plethora of delicious sides to choose from as well. They have several house made sauces to choose from and they were all a joy to sample. Could easily make a five star rating by using less pepper in everything. Mostly large ground black pepper and some red, but everything carries the same flavor palate of strong pepper. Otherwise, loved it all. Ribs, brisket, and pork. Owner needs to realize with so much of the same seasoning, nothing has its own identity. Ribs were well smoked, tender and very good. Let me tell you, I've been dying to try Blanchard's because I love delicious bbq in large portions and they did not disappoint! Their service is exceptional. I called our order in early and they set it aside right away so that they wouldn't run out of what we wanted (three meat platter with Mac & cheese, potato salad, and a side of slaw). It was ready for us and still piping hot when we arrived! I also mentioned on the phone that this was a special treat for our wedding anniversary and when we arrived they had put some free beers in a bag with an anniversary message So sweet! I come and get their pulled pork nachos, and I'm not talking some cheese in a cup, wet soggy meat on chips you'd find at the baseball fields. NO, they have genuine cheese with in-house barbecued meat and they top it all with sour cream and jalapeños. They have multiple meats to choose from like brisket that melts in your mouth it's so tender, sausages, ribs, and of course pulled pork. They have your basic barbecue sides: potato salad, coleslaw, fries, mac n cheese, baked beans, but man are they good. They are also the only place I've found in Lafayette that has poutine!! We split a pulled pork and brisket sandwich with a side of their fries and chipotle coleslaw. Possibly the best brisket I ever ate and pulled pork was impressive. Sides were fresh and tasted wonderful. They have an assortment of signature sauce that accompanied the meat very well. Glad to see Lafayette stepping up the food options. Coming from Texas, I realize I may have a steep expectation for bbq, but I find myself still in search of a place outside of Texas that comes close to BBQ flavor and texture back home. This place has an eye catching menu, nice facility, but there were still elements missing in flavor. We ordered the brisket plate with green chile mac, smoked potato salad, and poutine fries. Overall the place is decent, the brisket was moist and tender but the flavor was missing the hint of smokiness that ties it all together. The mac and cheese definitely didn't have the hint of green chile as expected and the consistency of the cheese could use some improvement, not something I would order again. The smoked potato salad has potential, but is missing a tang or something to enhance the flavor. The poutine fries were not bad, but the meat was a bit salty, and the brisket gravy was lacking. On the other hand, I did really enjoy their BBQ sauce collection. The ancho espresso and creole mustard BBQ sauces were my faves, and for root beer lovers out there they have a root beer BBQ sauce that is true to taste. read more

Blanchard's used to frequent my office. Between my coworkers and myself, we have tried everything on the menu. We enjoyed everything, but the standouts on the menu are as follows: brisket tacos with the grilled peppers and onions, brisket salad with pickled red onions (you can't go with either dressing but the jalapeno ranch is oil based so be mindful of that), and the pimento and bacon jam sandwich. Next on my list is definitely the brisket fries. Our only request is that you bring back the jalapeno poppers! Do yourself a favor and try their homemade BBQ sauces; my personal favorite is the espresso one. read more
