If I could put ZERO, I would. I had the rudest staff on Sunday, June 9th at 1245. I was told by the cashier that they didn't have any topping for the burgers. I said ok, assuming they were out. Then she told the next customer she wasn't going to cut up any more toppings because they closed at 3pm. I spoke up and asked why they just couldn't cut up some lettuce, tomato and onion for the customers they did have, there were several of us waiting for orders and they were getting phone orders. The answer: No, we close at 3pm. I pointed out that it was 1245 so they still had 2 more hours of customers who would like toppings for their burgers. They proceeded to explain to me that anything they cut up would go to waste. I then said that no it would not, because they could use it for all our burgers. At that time the girl on the grill told me that food prices are high. I said, yes I know, I just paid $11 for a burger without half its ingredients. I said a tomato is like 50 cents. She then told me to go get my own f*cking tomato and cut it up. Seriously, what is wrong with these people!? I left without accepting my order, afraid they had spit in it. This place has no class. Since when does closing in 2 hours time mean they can serve us food that doesn't meet the menu. Why in the world would they be so adverse to cutting up a few ingredients? This place has honey DOWN HILL. I'd like to hear from management on this one please. read more

We had bacon egg and and cheese burritos with green chili to take with us on Taos Air for the flight home. We were the envy of our fellow passengers with the aroma of such delicious food wafting around the cabin. No doubt some did not care for it due to their having not thought ahead. LOL! Maybe Taos Air should offer them as an in-flight option when booking the flight. 7/2/2020: slipped in for a quick green chili cheeseburger. One of our party can't tolerate red meat but is ok with fish. She ordered the fish basket. We both got the green chili cheeseburgers and a plain burger patty for the dog. They brought the food out to us. We were at a table under the huge trees. Everything was made exactly as ordered and delicious. I had a few bites of the fish and it was good too. I especially liked the tarter sauce. It was a bit spicy, and I suspect green chili was the reason! I have been eating at this location since either 1961 or 1965, and it's by far my favorite location. read more

First trip to a Blake's Lotaburger. Tried as a result of a local family recommendation. WOW. Had the Lotaburger New Mexico style and became a fan with the first bite. Their grilled Hatch green chili is wonderful; grilled with the medium cooked patties, coupled with their house spread, cheese, and the veggies, talk about a great burger. I highly recommend this burger. They are made fresh when ordered. If you are crazy enough, oh have a sweet tooth, they are also famous for their cherry shake. A tad sweet for my tastes but I'm sure that this is a minority opinion. It had a strong Maraschino cherry vibe. Chili Fries were only so so, more pintos than taters; not our favorite for sure. read more

So rude and scary. Only one star cause the food was satisfactory. The woman who took our order was rude, she gave us dirty looks the entire time. We were not expecting it to close at 3 pm on a weekday. The rude scary woman was waiting for us to leave so she could lock up after us and was not so subtlety sing "any day now" !! Stopped in at Blakes on our way into Taos. They have a chain of Blakes, but this one is my go to here in this city. So quite frankly, any Blake's you visit will be delicious! I ordered the Lotta burger with green chili (single patty), yummy!! My man ordered the Lotta burger N.Mex style. My burger was huge, we shared fries. Can't go wrong with a burger from Blakes. They also have the crushed ice for drinks. It's a small place at this site, little bar/window seating and outside tables. Staff was friendly and busy. Will definitely be back again, again, and again. read more

These are some of the best breakfast burritos we've had! We were a little unsure about going here because of the reviews, but our hotel front desk guy recommended this place, so we did it. I just have to say... hash browns inside the burrito?! Genius! And extra green chiles? Yes and yes. They did everything to make these burritos amazing and I'm so glad we stopped. The Lota burger was pretty good. But the service is pretty bad. I try not to pay attention to the complaints about service but these hold up. I ordered a Lota burger with bacon and cheese and the loaded fries...5 people that came in after me had their food and gone before anyone acknowledged they hadn't given me my food. Probably 20 minutes. I gave them the BOD, maybe they needed to make bacon or chili...but all in all it wasn't worth it. The chili was underwhelming. I am NOT talking about their green chile, I did not have any of that. Just a sad showing for a big time business in a small town. Cannot recommend. read more

Famous for green chili, Blake's is the place to go for the green chili cheeseburger. Since it's August and the summertime, it's green chili season, a great time to enjoy it. Plus, this Blake's has spectacular outdoor dining because it's a short drive from the Rio Grande Gorge. A "cheeseburger in paradise." The green chili cheeseburger is spicy and hearty. You can have menu items "loaded" (topped with red and/or green chili) Chili-topped fries make a New Mexican poutine of sorts. Driving through Taos on our way to Colorado, we saw a Lotaburger and knew we HAD to stop. Coming from Texas... Whataburger is so popular, we were like this must be the New Mexico version! During Covid19, masks were required inside, all the seating, which is not much for this location, inside was taped off. You could only sit outside, but it was pouring, so we stayed in the car. There is no drive thru, but once our order was placed, they let us know they would bring it to the car. The restaurant was clean, the staff was super friendly as well, explaining the menu to us. I ordered the green chili burger, with the green chilis on the burger, and seasoned fried. My husband got the same burger, with regular fries. Both fries were crisp and delicious, great flavor. I loved the hamburger, I thought mine was the perfect amount of heat. Now my husband, he said his mouth was on fire, so I am assuming they had a different batch of green chilis on his, and only because he can handle heat. He has completed spicy food challenges before. So a heads up, since the heat level can change, order the green chilis on the side. read more

It's 3:55pm on a Saturday and they're closed. We live in town , ate there around 11:30 today and our cherry shake was half full in a smaller than average cup... not sure why. So I just went to get food at this location. The lady who was cooking touched alot of raw beef to put into the fridge. Then continued to grab the rolls and put lettuce and toppings on people's food. I asked her to change her gloves and all the employees and the ma ger told me no it is ok. Then started speaking in Spanish thinking I didn't k ow because I am white. I've been coming to this location for years. They usually do a decent job, excluding this morning's service was ridiculous. I made my first order online, because every attempted call I made wasn't going through. It was "busy" on their end. When I arrived to the location and said my name to pick up my order I was given really bad attitude from one of the workers. She wasn't busy and hardly doing anything. When she finally gave me her attention her attitude worsened and said "you're the one who made the late online breakfast order". After she handed me my order I notified her their phone isn't on. She then said "I turned it off". After thanking them (gotta show good manners still, they are handling your food), and coming home I finally opened the wrapping and found my sandwich was a complete mess. I would leave no stars if I could. We visited this location on 6-23-21 at 140 pm. We walked in to order and the only person to be seen was a young man in the cooks area munching away on food. He looked at us without a word. He continued eating and looking at us as if we were bothering him. After a minute or two he opened the back door to the outside and yelled something. We decided we were obviously a bother and left without anyone acknowledging us or ordering. Disappointed. We came from Colorado and heard Lotaburger was good. I guess we will never know. read more

I eat here often as I live nearby. Service is always very very friendly and the food in and if itself has never disappointed. In terms of portion and price (if not also taste), you really can't find a better breakfast burrito you didn't make yourself. My single complaint is this... if you order for multiple people, expect to open up ever package, and look inside each burger or burrito, cause they never mark anything. I don't know if this an official policy of Blake's, but I can't imagine I'm the first or only person to notice this or comment about it. If you're an individual ordering multiple things or a family on vacation this is probably not a huge problem. However if you thought you'd treat your friends, coworkers or employees to a meal, the only way it really works is if everyone orders the exact same thing. read more

One of two Lota burgers in town. It would have been nice if they would have answered the phone so I could have place my order and gotten in and out really quick like I have in the past. Oh well. I'm not in that big of a hurry today, I'm on my own clock. However Richard want listening when I placed my order, and did mess it up. I understand that good help is hard to find, and I believe that wages are a huge part of it. It was only a drink and not a huge deal. I don't post bad reviews, but this was just so bad. I walk in, and the menu screen was blacked out. I asked if they had a paper menu and Adrianna said "no just look online." I was shocked so I opened up the menu. As I was looking, she went and reset the screen, which turned on the menu. I ordered a chicken sandwich and she asked which one I wanted. I asked which one she thought was better and she responded "I don't know I haven't had either." As I was ordering, another customer walked up to the bathroom and Adrianna yelled "the bathrooms are closed there's a sign" to which the customer responded "I see that now." Southside never answers their phone!!! So I call the one in the north side-they answer but when I went in to pick up my order I get a dirty look and bad attitude from a young lady half my age. Really love this place both locations in taos are great. Burgers are so juicy and cooked well never had a problem with that. Also the regular or season fries are amazing. I give this a 2.5 stars, it's middle of the road and nothing special. If it's winter don't expect the inside to be hotter than 55. Also the soda machine was frozen and I was made known of this after buying a fountain drink. The burger was average and were the fries. Overall just go to the Golden Arches as it will be easier and less of a wild card. read more

It's my daughter's birthday, and she wanted some fries and a shake from Lotaburger. We are here visiting family from out of town and only had a little bit of time. When I finally got through on their one line to place my order for pickup, they immediately put my on hold and set the receiver down on the counter so I could hear them take order after order at the counter while I sat on hold for TWENTY minutes. Then they hung up the receiver without ever speaking to me again. Great way to piss off your customers and keep business from coming in the door. As a NM native, I love Lotaburger and crave it when I am away, but this location gives them a bad name. read more

Not even close to an In-N-Out burger as some of the Yelpers have claimed about other store locations. I was very hungry so I ate it, but I would not go back. The service was as marginal as the burger. I ordered mine with cheese and mayo. It came without mayo. I brought it back to the counter and the guy blamed the ladies working the grill. Turns out he never wrote it on the order so it was his fault, but he was passing the buck. Bad form. read more

As true is that lottaburger is a NM tradition. The amount of green chili was not. The small amount that was distributed on the burger was definitely worth taking it back and showing them . I hope next time I'm in New Mexico this does does not happen again . read more
