No frills, funny service and great results. I came into Debbie for a womens haircut and she gave me exactly what I wanted. I wanted a blunt trim to get rid of damage and square out and she delivered. After washing and styling my hair like normal it's perfectly even. Now this is no frills, there's an adorable dog named beans and you're not going to have the experience of a lux salon for $55 but can you complain? Like everyone else I took the quarantine as a chance to let my hair grow longer than it ever has. Usually I go to a barbershop and ask for a mid-fade starting with a zero into pretty long hair on the top that I slick back in an undercut style. Now that my hair was reaching my mouth and curlier than I ever imagined I needed to find a professional stylist/hair cutter that would know what they were doing. Transparently, I took a guess here. I saw some solid reviews and noticed Patty's name came up a few times and I thought let's give it a shot. I called on a Friday and they squeezed me in an hour later. Patty DELIVERED! First of all, she's incredibly knowledgeable and will talk it all out with you. Some barbers I've noticed don't really handle feedback well or can't speak from a place of knowledge but Patty excelled in both. She started by washing my hair. I then showed her a few pictures of how I wanted to make my hair and she talked me through it all. Took her time and explained why she was doing what she was doing so it leads to what we are trying to do. My only gripe is the haircut itself is $55 and you have to leave a solid tip with how friendly, caring and smart Patty is. That's pretty steep coming from the world of $25 fades but that's the price you got to pay to have a pro handle your hair. I've received so many compliments and i owe it all to Blades and Patty. Patty is a hair stylist and colorist of true precision and skill but if you are nervous her adorable chihuahua Beanie will pass out in your lap and provide comfort and reassurance you are in good hands. This is a LONG overdue review of the fantastic place and hair stylists at Blades. I get me hair done by Patty ever since I moved to LA (8 years ago). It is an hour drive for me but it's totally worth it plus their prices are very reasonable. Believe it or not My Husband recommended Patty to me saying that he is her customer for 30 years! I gave it a try and have to say that she has an amazing ability to understand what client wants and actually cutting your hair the way you want them to be. My hairstyle is very conservative "Swiss banking" style - nothing I would imagine a stylist in a heart of WEHO would understand ;-) but Patty got it right away and she was not trying to push her views on me as many other stylists do. The atmosphere in the salon is always so relaxing and interesting. I'm always looking forward to the visit in Blades! When I had my baby i started taking my infant here as I didn't have a nanny. It turned out that Robert is an amazing babysitter:) so I can have my hair and highlights done without spending a fortune on babysitters. My now 2.5 year old is also becoming a client at Blades! Honestly Patty can cut Anyone's hair and they will look great! She also styled my hair few times for red carpet events like Emmys - looked very good and held for long time. I live in Silverlake and drive over to Blades for my haircut with Robert. He's been cutting my hair for over 20 years and would highly recommend him to others. I absolutely adore Patty she's a extremely talented and loves to decorate for all the holidays. One of my favorite is Valentines day. She does the most unique valentine cards. They are definitely art, all hand painted and the most clever sayings on them. Each year i look forward to getting some for my annual gay cruise. Its customery to decorate your cabin door with fun items. Last year we constantly heard laughter from everyone that would be outside our door reading the valentine cards. Patty scares me so much that I once waited for 8 months to get my hair cut. Luckily she does such a great job that my cut grew out amazingly and it was unnoticeable that it had been 8 months in between trims. Patty has been styling, cutting and even occasionally coloring my hair for years. She's not just an artist as a stylist she's a funny, friendly woman with a great spirit. Anytime I even thought of maybe changing my current hairstyle, Patty is the only person I'd go to for her honest opinion and expertise.
