There are no puppies, no kittens, not guinea pigs but there are fish. However positively, if you like fish, this is your store. Gold fish galore. Also considering that I have been told to never buy a decent sized pet from a pet shop, eg.dog, I guess this further supports the fact that in truth, this store is quite nice :)

I…read moretend to give businesses a higher rating, not because they are flashier or trendier or even because there is a sexy gril behind the counter (the last one was a blatent lie), but I find I prefer the places that have an indefinable character. Usually I find this 'character' easier in pubs (strange that), but occasionally I come across a store that makes an impression on me and it doesn't make too much sense. This is the dilema I find myself in with the Glenelg Pet Centre. It doesn't reak of dog turds, nor does it have the usual cuddlies in the window making you feel guilty for not taking them home. It has a large selection of accesoriesfor pets (which I am not really a fan of) plus heaps of animal munchies specially designed by vets who claim to know what pets like.....depressing looking dry crap looks like the go! The store stocks more 'interesting' pets (i guess) with fishies, turtles and hermit crabs getting pride of place. I think the best thing to say would be, if you have pets and don't mind 'spoiling them' (which is really just satisfying your own thoughts on what they would enjoy), then check out Pets with Pizazz, as the store slogan says, and you will see what I mean!

Also, I have just moved houses, so I was on the search to find a new destination for my supplies. One thing that I really love about Yelp is that it point's me in the right direction constantly. I go to all the cool shops now. Places where locals love and want to share the love! And this brings me to P&K pets. This store is surprisingly big! From the street it looks like a pokey little store, but head on into it and it just keeps going! My only disappointment was that it doesn't really have a carpark (unless I missed it anywhere?), so I had to park in the pub carpark. But not too far of a walk to the store and not that this would deter me from going back. This store has such a huge selection of products for all different types of animals. Also, the animals that they sell look very happy and healthy.There are lizards, fish, bunnies, turtles, etc... I even saw two pet Kookaburras. Wow! As for dog food and toys, a brilliant selection with great brands to choose from. Well priced and they offer a 5% off when you join up as a member of the store. I signed up in a flash! Every dollar counts. They also pointed out that the discount only applies to full priced items. Fair enough. The staff are so super friendly and so happy to help! They even offered to help me carry my massive bag of dog food to the car. How sweet! They helped me find what I needed and offered me some great advice for my pets. Totally love this store and so happy to have found my new destination for pet gear near my new home!

P & K Pets is one of the largest pet stores I've seen, and it's collection of fish and furry…read morecritters is beyond impressive. I went to this a while ago to buy my girlfriend some fish. I'm warning you right now - if you think that fish are easy to look after, you couldn't be more wrong. They require a lot more care than dogs or cats, will die on you at any sudden moment, and don't give you any love in return. Despite all this, the staff at P & K really know their stuff. They gave me all of the materials and equipment required to properly look after the fish and information on which fish live well together. I usually hate going in to pet stores and seeing a whole lot of puppies and kittens locked away in plastic boxes. Fortunately P & K Pets is an ethical pet shop, and they no longer sell kittens or puppies in the shop. Furthermore, they refuse to keep any pets in the store if the temperature is above 33 degrees celcius. It's comforting to know that these guys really care about the welfare of these animals, and if I am ever to buy another pet in the future, I'll know where I can get pets that are genuinely well looked after.

They have bulk food in huge bags that you nearly need a forklift to carry; a wide range of collars, toys, harnesses, bowls, beds, water dispensers, flea and worm treatment, and a plethora of pet pampering products. They even have a dog washing station that we have used one Saturday. It was a bit traumatic for our little dogs though, so may be better for a medium to large dog. Petstock also have a rewards program of some sort. I think we get a discount there.

Apart from Cork, I shop here often for my cat. I'm pretty sure he's put a spell on me, as every time I step into PETstock, I aim for the treats and cat nip shelves! It's a great one stop shopping venue for all your pet needs. It has friendly and helpful staff, aquariums with majestic reptiles and gorgeous fishes to look at, huge range of pet accessories to pamper your pooch and best of all, there's free furry hugs for all!

As we have our own little fur baby on the way it was definetly a trip we needed to take and this place was HUGE. They have areas for specials and a fantastic range (though sometimes it feels empty since there's so much shelf space it can make products look low on stock). Staff were honest and gave good advice which was refreshing. The main thing I liked about this place though was that it was clean. Paranoid after reading up so much about parvo and other pup viruses I was really happy with rhe sterility of it, a nice change from most of the shops where they have food product spilled out on the floors and animals or birds roaming round dooking on everything haha. THE BEST WOULD BE IF YOU GO TO A BREEDER In December 2020 we…read morebought our lovely dog Milo from Boutique Paws. Everything seemed serious and professional. The handling was also very good. We received all the papers, the first vaccinations and desexing were done. The following January we went to a vet for a routine check-up. The exam was OK, too. The vet asked us if Milo's parents had the disease Bloat (GDV). With the papers from Boutique Paws we also got the name of the breeder and the mobile number. So, I tried to call the breeder, Alex in NSW but despite trying several times I couldn't get through to her. I left messages, sent SMS, but it was just ignored. I asked Boutique Paws for help, but they just said I should contact the breeder as they have nothing to do with it. I sent an email later, which went unanswered. Simply, one has not taken care of the concerns. I found Alex's address via Google and sent her a letter asking for the requested information. This time it was simply ignored. In November 2021, Milo was diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia. The left side had less than 20% breaking strain and the right side had more than 75%. We had come to terms with it and in the meantime, I had written a Google review and that same day Matthew from Boutique Paws called me and asked me to delete it. He asked me why I am writing a negative review like this one. I should have reported. I had explained everything to him, and he wanted to take care of everything and let it come to a happy ending. He suddenly said that we would get our money back and that he wanted to get in touch with Alex immediately. From then on, the 2nd part of the story started. Milo was operated on 3.5 weeks ago. He got a new hip joint. In short, after many emails and phone calls, nothing came of it. I got grumpy because it was repeatedly put off, they wanted reports from the vet, which they received but didn't acknowledge because they are convinced that Milos' hip damage was caused by rough play, diet, etc. The report says it's a congenital issue. And it doesn't matter now. We never asked for money. Matthew brought this up to keep us quiet, and he was probably hoping I wouldn't write more reviews. This behaviour only made the text longer. CONCLUSION: Find a breeder you can contact and get to know personally to see if it is a serious breed and not a puppy farm. Our lesson learned is that we will never again buy a dog from a shop where we cannot visit the breeder ourselves. By the way, Milo is feeling better. The vet diagnosed the puppy with hip dysplasia. After this Matt (the owner) offered my mum a full refund, as he promised he was going to get treatment for the puppy. Since then we have been trying to get the promised refund or return the dog to us (as we are now worried about her). I have since had all our reviews like this one removed from Boutique Paws facebook, Google and Yelp & also he has since removed the Puppy Promise of 14 day puppy health guarantee off their website. We have a letter of support from our Vet and we are now having to take this further. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS BUSINESS IF YOU CARE ABOUT ANIMALS.

I always venture into pet stores to sneak a peak at the adorable puppies and cute kittens that they have in stock, wishing that I could take them all home. What I was not expecting when I walked into the Northisde Pet Superstore in Hillcrest, was a variety of snakes and lizzards to impress me. Which it did. There were some amazing creatures in that store. A cute little baby childrens python even tried to attack me, and smacked its face on the glass - highly entertaining. A pet store with a different sort of livestock than your average domestic pets is definitely something worth 4 stars, especially when I got the impression that the staff were more than happy to talk to you about any questions you had.

I'd always duck into Northside Pet Superstore when I was going past, after picking up some quite…read morerare fish for an absolute steal - browsing through all the standard guppies, tetras, platys and goldfish - nothing really unusual there, but it is a pet store, not a specialised aquarium shop - I found a tank full of algae eaters - again nothing unusual (and word of warning, they're only algae eaters when they're young, and hungry - as they get bigger, and find they can eat the food your other fish are getting, they get lazy - and they'll also latch on to slow moving fish, and use them as food too - not nice fish sometimes) except for five fish that definitely weren't your everyday algae eater - tall fins, and a much more elongated shape. I asked a staff member what they were, she told me algae eaters - I took a chance on them, as they looked really interesting, and I knew I could find homes for them even if they weren't compatible with my fish, and took two of the 'algae eaters' home. Turned out they were a variety of Hemoloptera - lovely fish that don't grow too big, and sell for about ten times the price of an algae eater - and when I went back for the other three the next day they even gave me a discount on them... *bonus* :) That aside, I see a good stock of the regular fish. There's often a special on something, tetras, goldies or guppies, which probably reflects a discount they've gotten from the suppliers, but it never hurts to get a good bargain. Overall the store looks good - I don't pay a lot of attention to the rest of the livestock, unless the kids are with me, but they have a good range of animals and products.

They carry a good range of pre packaged foods at the front but you can also buy in bulk. I bought some 20kg bags of chook food and they even put it on a trolley and not only brought it to my car but loaded it into the boot for me too. There's easy parking out the front. They have basically the same range as a pet shop but heaps more animals available to buy than most pet shops. When I went in they had everything from rabbits, all kinds of birds, fish, turtles, even some snakes (which look beautiful through the glass but that's just where they can stay.....). Plus they of course stock all the necessary equipment, accessories and foods for pretty much all animals. We used to go to a much larger fodder shop but this one is local and the prices were comparable to the larger retailer. Plus their range is much bigger than expected once inisde. The staff there were great and even wrote all the prices of what we buy down for me so I could discuss it with my partner later that evening. We will definitely continue to make our purchases here in future.

You can get them all here too. We have a dog with some skin allergies and I can get much better shampoo's for her from here than from a supermarket. They also give great advice on such things.
