On Friday 20/09/19 my 35 years old daughter and myself went into this shop, we live separately and…read moreeach own a 4ft aquarium and have done far several years, I spent over $88 and she spent in excess of $127, the male Asian owner convinced her to buy a bag of a special mixture of things which he makes himself, which when added to the external filter was guaranteed to give crystal clear water overnight it cost her $25, in the morning when she got up her tank was murky and has a black coating over her substrate, upon removing the bag from the filter she realised he had bagged up charcoal which on it's own is very cheap about $4 per 200 grams, she contacted him via his Facebook page showing him pictures of the mess it had made, he said it had never happened before and that he would refund the money, and to bring it back when she was up their next time. She was not in a hurry as she was busy cleaning up the mess it has made,. Meanwhile one of the items I had bought, an internal filter, Petworx WXI-1300 for $37.95 had been in my tank for four days. The tank is situated near my lounge suite, I was having a cuppa when I heard a noise coming from the filter, I promptly got up and removed the filter from the tank and went to the kitchen to see what was going wrong, as I removed the canister from the motor it's impeller also came out on top of the canister followed by a small piece of plastic rod. I looked at the bottom of the motor and saw the other half of the rod still were it should have been in the motor, so obviously it was a faulty device, as I needed the filter I asked my daughter to please take it back to the shop, Aquarium World Wingfield Adelaide SA, and she could also get her refund at the same time. He was extremely rude and wanted to give her store credit for her $25, she insisted on a refund as she had no interest in buying anything else from that shop. Now when it came to my product issue, and as in all my years of ownership of aquariums I had never had that issue with a filter before, I lost confidence in the product so I wanted a refund as the item was clearly faulty. He flat out refused to refund or exchange it for another filter, in fact all he was prepared to do was given me $18 store credit, I also did not want anything else from his shop especially at a loss to me of $20. He gave her the contact number of his distributor and said to contact them as I according to him had "tampered" with the product. So now I'm accused of lying and deliberately breaking my own brand new filter, which I desperately needed, when my daughter phoned me from the shop to ask what I wanted to do, I opted to get the broken filter back. Upon receiving it back and with the phone number of the distributor I called them only to find out that he had already contacted them, telling them that I had tampered with it. Fortunately after speaking to a lovely lady and explaining the situation she was able to replace the impeller shaft, I wasn't aware that the shaft came out of the motor. This shop is is fantastic when you're shopping, but if you have an issue they become hostile and blame you for the issues. I'd never go their again, mainly all salt water fish anyway, extremely poor range of cichlids which he is not to knowledgeable of. His advice is also self serving, in that he steers you towards items he makes himself.

Having an Italian greyhound means ALOT of money goes in to weird niche dog things the breed needs, one of which is a special tooth gel. Long story short I saved myself a good thirty dollars because this store is the only one in Adelaide that randomly carries it so five stars for getting in super niche things essential to particular breeds. But what REALLY impressed me was the knowledge the staff had, they let us know about the puppy school they host which was under $100 for five classes (something most other dog stores don't do), gave me loads of tips about introducing my two dogs, tips about the breed and best yet they didn't pressure me to buy any dumb little add-ons at the counter (because like all pet owners we spend our rent money on stacks of dog toys as it is). Thanks to the team there it will be our local! Bring your dog in too they give out free cuddles

How about one with feathers that you have taught swear words to? Even if it is a scaley one that likes to eat live rodents (don't we all), you will find all that you need to keep them healthy and entertained at Petstock on Main North Road. I am an animal person, in fact many have referred to me as an animal myself (Like a TIGER, rrrrooooowl!). As I write this yelp one of my Cats (Samurai) is actually dribbling on my leg, an yet I don't throw him across the room yelling 'fly supercat', that is just how much of an animal guy I am! I often drop in to Petstock on the way home to pick up some stupidly expensive (but scientifically formulated) cat food and also to tap on the many fish tanks! It is a huge store, encompassing everything from food, toys, living quarters (doghouses) and many things that you look at and think "who the hell would buy that for their pet....it would look great on me!" The employees are all very knowledgeable and pet lovers themselves, so they are quite able to help make decisions on what is best for your little fido, nemo or Rum Tum Tugga. Little prick just bit my foot.

Out of all the aquarium shops in Adelaide that I've visited (and I think I've been to them all by…read morenow) this would be my first stop if I could only go to one. Without a shadow of a doubt they have the biggest range of fish, and by far the deepest range of exotic species. There are shops that have cheaper fish, bigger fish, rarer fish, harder to find plants, or a bigger range of cichlids, or marine exotics - but for all round range, Seaview has it hands down. It's also a huge store - lots of tanks to choose from, accessories, pumps, decorations, rocks & logs - you name it, it's here. Again, there ARE bigger stores - but the range here has everything I could think of needing all contained in one store. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. It can get busy, and I've stood in a frustratingly slow queue on a Saturday - but that's understandable given they need to communicate with a lot of customers over the suitability of fish for their needs, that they understand the care needed for certain species, etc. Parking is best off the Anzac Highway - I've seen far too many wing mirrors whipped off cars parked here while people shop for fish.

Now he's the size of a large dinner plate. Along with 2 tanks, and a whole school of fish... this place loves taking my money :) I've tried many other fish / aquarium shops in Adelaide but this really is your one stop shop for all fish, turtle, frog and marine plant supplies, they also have a large range of tanks and ponds. It is easily the best aquarium shop in Adelaide. It does however get a little busy on weekends, so prepare for a wait while you get served, but there is a lot of cool marine displays to look at while you wait. Check out the shark tank very cool, or my Bumblebee Cichlid who now lives in the large Cichlid tank out back, he got way to big for my 6 ft tank and started picking on all the others. :( Prices are reasonable, and the staff are usually friendly... If you love spending endless amounts of cash on your marine critters, then this is the place to go. :)

They have bulk food in huge bags that you nearly need a forklift to carry; a wide range of collars, toys, harnesses, bowls, beds, water dispensers, flea and worm treatment, and a plethora of pet pampering products. They even have a dog washing station that we have used one Saturday. It was a bit traumatic for our little dogs though, so may be better for a medium to large dog. Petstock also have a rewards program of some sort. I think we get a discount there.

Apart from Cork, I shop here often for my cat. I'm pretty sure he's put a spell on me, as every time I step into PETstock, I aim for the treats and cat nip shelves! It's a great one stop shopping venue for all your pet needs. Also, I have just moved houses, so I was on the search to find a new destination for my supplies. One thing that I really love about Yelp is that it point's me in the right direction constantly. I go to all the cool shops now. Places where locals love and want to share the love! And this brings me to P&K pets. This store is surprisingly big! From the street it looks like a pokey little store, but head on into it and it just keeps going! My only disappointment was that it doesn't really have a carpark (unless I missed it anywhere?), so I had to park in the pub carpark. But not too far of a walk to the store and not that this would deter me from going back. This store has such a huge selection of products for all different types of animals. Also, the animals that they sell look very happy and healthy.There are lizards, fish, bunnies, turtles, etc... I even saw two pet Kookaburras. Wow! As for dog food and toys, a brilliant selection with great brands to choose from. Well priced and they offer a 5% off when you join up as a member of the store. I signed up in a flash! Every dollar counts. They also pointed out that the discount only applies to full priced items. Fair enough. The staff are so super friendly and so happy to help! They even offered to help me carry my massive bag of dog food to the car. How sweet! They helped me find what I needed and offered me some great advice for my pets. Totally love this store and so happy to have found my new destination for pet gear near my new home!

P & K Pets is one of the largest pet stores I've seen, and it's collection of fish and furry…read morecritters is beyond impressive. I went to this a while ago to buy my girlfriend some fish. I'm warning you right now - if you think that fish are easy to look after, you couldn't be more wrong. They require a lot more care than dogs or cats, will die on you at any sudden moment, and don't give you any love in return. Despite all this, the staff at P & K really know their stuff. They gave me all of the materials and equipment required to properly look after the fish and information on which fish live well together. I usually hate going in to pet stores and seeing a whole lot of puppies and kittens locked away in plastic boxes. Fortunately P & K Pets is an ethical pet shop, and they no longer sell kittens or puppies in the shop. Furthermore, they refuse to keep any pets in the store if the temperature is above 33 degrees celcius. It's comforting to know that these guys really care about the welfare of these animals, and if I am ever to buy another pet in the future, I'll know where I can get pets that are genuinely well looked after.

They have exotic pets like snakes, lizards and other reptiles and also spiders - eek! I will not be anywhere near those things and it's a good thing they dont' sell Mortein as I'd be armed and dangerous with a can. It's a big shops and there's alot of pet stock under the roof with equipment, food, supplies and all sorts of weird pets and the norm and nfortunately they do sell kittens. But there are other furry creatures like rabbits and guinea pigs and if you don't want to get that close there's always fish.

This pet shop keeps birds in a way that isn't good for their health and welfare…read more I visited this shop about 3 weeks ago and there is a room where they keep the birds for sale. The room's cold, has a concrete floor and no natural light. Birds need natural full spectrum light in order for their bodies to make vitamin D and enable them to have the correct sleeping patterns. They should at least have full spectrum light bulbs. The room has parrots in triple-decker cages. The birds in the top and middle cages get artificial light, but the parrots in the lowest cages are living in deep shadow and it's distressing to see how these birds cope with this. The one sole occupant in the lowest cage has no tail feathers left and is continually climbing to reach the upper corners of its cage to try to access some of the light - anyone can see this is an anxious and unhappy bird. The room also contains box cages full of about 30 - 40 finches. The owners have only been bothered putting up the one perch for this many finches in a single cage. Every centimetre of this perch is used by the finches; when one bird moves they're all forced to move. The rest of the birds have to sit on the ground and would also have to roost on the ground at night. This is bad for their feet - birds need to be able to perch, especially at night when they roost. They're also forced to spend extended periods of time overnight on a floor full of bird droppings, obviously not good for their health. On a closer look at the cage there is a bracket to support a second perch. These people have clearly just been too lazy to bother putting in a second perch for such a high number of these birds. A friend told me he'd gone in there once and saw a pair of very young budgie chicks just sitting in the corner on the floor. They were clearly too young to have been taken from the nest but here were these people putting them into this cage without even adequate perching and trying to sell them before they were properly ready to leave the nest. The way the owners keep these birds shows no regard for their welfare and these people are denying these birds' the opportunity to engage in essential natural behaviors like accessing enough light, the ability to perch and the ability to avoid having to sit in bird droppings. Not good at all.

I'm sure at the end of the day having to move everything back inside they have to quickly lean against the door with their backs hard against it and lock it before it explodes out! The pet shop is very well stocked with supplies for all creatures great and small, from dogs to mice, their pet bearded dragon is certainly not shrinking, he's huge. They do sell puppies, which I personally don't agree on any pet shop doing as breeder direct is better, but anyway. The owner and staff are friendly enough and certainly know their products and what can help with a minor ailment, otherwise it's a trip to the vet down the road. Besides dogs, they also have fish for sale. They also run an engraving service to personalise your pets name tag.

This is a lovely family-run pet store - bonus points for the pink free range chicken…read more Absolutely loaded with pet accessories, this little store is *the* place to visit for pet treats: from dried meat to bones to chews, leads and toys, they've pretty much got anything and everything for that spoiled mutt or cranky cat. I come in here to get my mum's ridiculously minuscule dog a treat or two, and she loves them. They also have a massive range of fish for sale, which my niece makes a beeline for every time we visit, as well as puppies and kittens every now and then. They're friendly and welcoming, and you WILL need to keep your eyes peeled for the pastel pink fluffy chicken that pecks around like it owns the place. Which it might.... And there's usually a huge parrot and a few birds on stands around the store too, which aren't for sale but just do their thing.
