Absolutely Terrible Experience - Avoid at All Costs
I had an extremely disappointing and costly experience with Abel and Blackstone Countertops, and I feel compelled to warn others.
I paid Abel $3,000 for what should have been a straightforward job--fabricating and installing a kitchen island, a countertop, and a backsplash. Unfortunately, what I received was a combination of sloppy workmanship, broken promises, and unprofessional service.
Here's what went wrong:
* The Island: While it was installed, it was not completed. No holes were drilled for the soap dispenser or water dispenser as promised, leaving the job clearly unfinished.
* The Countertop: This was installed with a visible chip and rough, unsmoothed edges. The lack of care in the finishing was immediately obvious, and it reflects poor-quality workmanship.
* The Backsplash: This part was an absolute disaster. The seam was not centered at all, and Abel decided to use a section of quartz with a visible imperfection right in the center--completely ruining the design. As a result, we had to scrap the original backsplash (from a $3,600 quartz slab), purchase $500 worth of new backsplash tile, and pay our contractor again to reinstall it.
* Broken Promises: Abel also promised to provide two quartz cutting boards and a round cut-out to use as a Lazy Susan--none of which were ever delivered.
When I tried to address these issues with him, I was met with excuses and zero accountability. The overall experience felt dishonest and disrespectful, both financially and professionally. I've never felt so taken advantage of by a contractor.
Bottom line: I regret hiring Blackstone Countertops and working with Abel. The job was mishandled from start to finish, and I'm left with unnecessary expenses, wasted material, and work that still isn't complete. I strongly advise others to look elsewhere if you care about quality, professionalism, or integrity. read more
