I had a terrible experience at this shop on MLK Street. My usual tire shop, NTB in Havelock, was out of stock in my tire size and couldn't help me before the holiday, so I stopped here on a whim, hoping for a quick solution. Brad assured me they had comparable tires at a good price and could get me in and out in 90 minutes--much faster than the 3 hours NTB quoted me. I thought I was saving time and money, but the reality was far from it. On my drive home, my car warned me about high tire pressure--43 and 42 PSI on the front tires when my car's recommended range is 30-35 PSI. Worse, the tires weren't even rotated, despite Brad specifically explaining why rotation was necessary to have the new tires with the most tread in the back. The pricing wasn't great either--turns out, the same tires are $20 cheaper at their competitor. On top of that, they performed an alignment I didn't authorize. I had an alignment done just three months ago, and it's typically recommended only once a year. I wasn't even given a courtesy call to let me know they were doing it--they just went ahead without asking. The whole experience left me feeling like I'd been taken advantage of. Poor attention to detail, lack of transparency, and questionable upselling practices make it hard for me to recommend this shop to anyone. I'd strongly suggest going elsewhere. read more

We use Black's Tires on ML King Boulevard in New Bern NC--Exclusively! Ron Thompson and his staff go above and beyond with their service. Clear explainations of the problem and they show you the damaged parts so you clearly see and understand what is needed. Their pricing is the best around. We had a problem with the tire pressure light going on and Ron himself told us to come in and he takes the tires off and finds the problem and fixes it! He and his staff really care about our safety and it is a great feeling to know when we travel ( which is extensive as my husband is a musician) we can set out knowing our car is in great shape.Job well done Ron and Staff Bernard & Celia Purdie read more

I always have a good experience when I visit Blacks Tire on East Palmetto St. I have dealt with them for years and before that my grandpa who raised me did. One thing I also like is that there seems to be a low turnover rate of employees, so there is years among years of experience there from intake and customer service to the more technical positions in the shop. Most know me by name upon walking through the door. There is also a high level of trust. I know that I can leave whatever I need to in my vehicle without worry or concern of missing property. That level of trust has taken YEARS to build and that level of service is priceless. read more

I use to use Black's because they were next door to my work, friendly and have great customer service. They always had time to work on my car and I've NEVER had a problem with any work that they have done on my car. I now work an hour away from Black's and STILL drive to let them work on my car. Ron Thompson is amazing! He treats you like one of his family and you always feel confident that the work that is done on your vehicle is top quality!! I would recommend Black's to any of my friends and family. read more

Very friendly, efficient, and honest. I thought there was something wrong with my brakes and they told me they were fine and why I may have thought something was wrong. I was charged nothing for their help. I appreciate their integrity because I don't have any knowledge of cars and would believe/pay for anything I was told. I 100% recommend based on the entire experience and will definitely go back there if I need to. read more

I received excellent customer services from Black tires. Abby was very patient and happy to help. She took time to explain the different prices for the oil change, based on the high Mileages. She called and let me know that my car was ready, and she was willing to wait a few minutes until I arrived to pick it up. I highly recommend family and friends to Black tires! read more

I've been a customer for over 20 years. The level of customer care and service is outstanding! Pricing is always a major concern, but the correctness, good quality service, and an aur of genuine concern reasonably justify! It. Ie. you are getting what you pay for!! read more
