i stopped by to order a pie for takeout on a weekend afternoon. it's a small place, no seating, but the people behind the counter were all friendly and attentive. we placed our order, and while we waited, we saw several people coming in to pick up orders that had just been made fresh. it was pretty quick, maybe 10-15 minutes, and came out piping hot! i see they're known for detroit-style, but we ordered a regular hand-tossed crust. the pizza is cheesy, which i love, but a word of caution if it's not your thing. i am a native new yorker, so it obviously wasn't new york pizza, but it also doesn't bill itself to be and it was a super satisfying pizza meal. i'd love to go back and sample their other offerings and specialties. i didn't notice the same issues some other reviews mention--maybe it's dependent on the team or time of day, but based on my experience, i'll be back! sorry, no photos because we were too excited to eat it lol read more

I've never actually been inside because we always order it as delivery. However, the pizza is Detroit style and so filling and good! They cut them into squares. I have never had an issue with service. Definitely recommend especially if you're wanting to try a new style of pizza. read more

The round pizza was disappointing. I wasn't loving it. It was below mid and tasted pretty soggy. I wasn't impressed with the texture and I wish I ordered elsewhere. I have been super curious about this chain for a while now. And while I'm glad I tried it, I don't feel the need to ever eat here again. I love their online ordering system. It's super intuitive, allows for customizations, and gives you the option to schedule your pick up time and pay in person. The scheduling of pick up time is soooo key. The corners and edges are what they're all about with that slight "Detroit style" approach. And maaaaaybe that's just not for me? The bread is thicker and so the slices are on the small side. I personally thought the pizza was quite pricey for how small it was. The rectangle "large" was $17 dollars and it just didn't feel like a lot of food. All in all, I didn't love the taste of the pizza anyway. The sauce, the bread, it just didn't totally do it for me. On Thursday's they do have a special for large pizza with 5 toppings, if you are going to customize your pizza I would really suggest you order Thursday to save the 3 bucks. read more

We ordered Detroit Style (4/5) because it's their signature pizza and what they're best known for - square cut pizza with personal ingredients that included onions, spinach, ground beef, sausage, mushrooms & mozzarella cheese. My fav. was the onion - honestly, who doesn't LOVE onion? The rest of the ingredients were finely diced up, so I couldn't really taste them as well, which included the mushrooms and it could've used more meat - don't confuse the browned cheese with misconception that it was a ton of sausage & ground beef. I pick up Blackjack for my family at least once a week, it is the only place we get pizza anymore! The wings are also great and their Greek salad is absolutely delicious. They also make their own dressings and sauces, and their buttermilk ranch is awesome! But even more than anything on the menu, I've always had the best customer service here. In January I called in to ask if they could make a heart shaped pizza for my anniversary (our weeknight dinner before our weekend celebration) and they asked the manager and said they could place my pepperoni in a heart shape and I was more than thrilled since they are always so busy. Then when I arrived, I was surprised with the pepperoni's EACH being hand cut into hearts, and then placed in a heart shape on my large pizza!!! I tried this for the first time when my boss bought us all pizza. I had the Hawaiian and personally loved it so I'm disappointed to see a 3.5 star rating overall for this place. They don't refund money. This location goes crazy with the cheese, so if that's your thing, enjoy! I don't like too much cheese, so started ordering light cheese. They still pile on the extra cheese. The cheese on my pizza was thicker than the thin crust. Called and they won't refund but will send another or credit. This has happened too many times, so that's a waste. The thin crust might as well been a grocery store tombstone and the normal crust was nearly identical to a digornio or papa John's. But hey you don't know till you try. On top of those two things. First, time to order and delivery as expected and food was hot Wings, cooked well however not enough hot wing sauce despite asking for sauce on the side. If there is a place to avoid it's this place. Food is greasy and service sucks. It all starts the moment you walk in. Very dirty. There was food and flour all over the side of the glass in the customer waiting area. The other nasty thing is they pre-prep pizza dough and place it in holding racks right in front of waiting customers, no glass partition. Anyone could cough or sneeze on your pie. Their counter help sucks. No one seems to be trained. Told them who I was, auto response was "Ok, 10mins" even though I placed my order 30mins prior and they never checked for my pizza or looked at an order in the computer. Won't go back. Typically have always had decent service. And I don't know how the error happened since I've had issues with the old app dropping off the 'perks' in the past, but no matter if it was the app or an oversight, how it was handled was rude. The young man cooking the pizzas was obviously feeling overwhelmed when I told him that I also had a cheesy bread. His curt response was "You'll have to take that up with Patrick", as he stormed off. I looked at Patrick and told him it was an app deal for spending over $25. It didn't appear that he said anything to any staff, and then he grabbed some pans and headed to the back never to speak or face me thereafter. I then heard the pizza guy bark at the two other staff about essentially being the only one doing all the work. After a good five minutes or so, one of the staff asked if I was waiting for the cheesy bread, to which I said "Yes". I then heard pizza guy say something about going to have to wait another 7 minutes. After another few minutes pizza guy came over and apologized and blamed it on it being hectic and then offered me a soda, which I declined. Eventually one of the other staff brought me the cheesy bread and offered sauces, which once again I declined since I hang requested any. If the pressures of a pizza shop are so stressful, maybe another job needs to be considered. And Patrick never ever did come back around...not much of a leader, IMO...wonder what he does if someone starts yelling at him. Giving 3 stars because food is still good.
