I'll focus mainly on the heath itself as this would turn out to be a review of some considerable length if I incorporate the whole inner suburban village of Blackheath.
The heath is really nice.
Not much to it, just big patches of grass but still really nice. A spired church is the only building upon the heath and even that's right in a corner.
A nice place to visit in the warm months with it's grassy loveliness and even in the cold months the heath holds a haunting beauty, especially at night. It can get a bit breezy though.
When one is in the town streets it's easy to forget you're still in London. Blackheath looks and feels like a separate village to the rest of the city but in fact, from the heath, you'll be about a 20-30 minute walk to the East of Greenwich (technically, Blackheath is in Greenwich AND Lewisham).
I enjoy visiting Blackheath, a beautiful place and a number of delightful and pleasing cafe's, pubs, shops etc. Just try to forget about the untold numbers of the dead beneath your feet.
