This is the largest open space in the Borough of Bexley and lends itself to the variety of wildlife habitats .It consists of a rolling landscape, ancient woodland, the River Cray and its adjacent woodlands and wildflower margins.
Large areas of Footscray Meadows are now managed as wildflower meadows, but this has still left large areas available for ball games, kite flying & picnicking. Visitors are attracted to the site for a number of reasons but the majority is to enjoy the diverse wildlife here from the aquatic wildlife in the large lake and the River Cray to the woodland wildlife in the vast areas of woodland. Within the meadows spanning the River Cray is Five Arches Bridge.
There are many walks to be had around here and some longer walks pass through. read more
