We very much enjoyed our time on Sunday with Shira getting one of her flash tattoos for April! It was very great to be able to feel comfortable and prepared before getting the tattoo. I appreciate that Shira was willing to give me different sizes, directions, and even placements to help make sure it's where I really wanted to have it (forever) before starting. The whole process was also great, she took the time to make sure that there weren't any gaps, missed spots, and everything was great. Also, big shout out to the WHOLE shop for being such a clean and inviting place! read more

This is my favorite tattoo shop! I've been to several and this has been the best experience so far. We had Shira tattoo her April flash designs, I got the flower and my husband got the monstera plant. The process goes: complete an interest form online, they call to chat and set you up an appointment time with your preferred artist, go in and pay the down payment (CASH ONLY), they fill you in on the day-of process, and you go for your appointment. They were super clear and communicative about the process for everything, and very kind the whole time. Shira was fabulous, she didn't rush us even when my husband couldn't decide on size or placement. She was thorough, her designs incredible, did a great job, and even consulted about a cover up I want done. We're looking forward to having her do future tattoos! The shop is so cool, I loved just walking around. They have tons of merch and other cool stuff, but another warning it's all cash-only. They have an ATM on site if you need one. Look on their Instagram page for parking guidance, there's a map of where you can and can't park around the shop. read more

Highly recommend Mel! i Got my very tattoo with her a few days ago. She's very professional and down to earth. She was thorough when explaining the process & aftercare. I was hesitant when I saw the sketch but trusted the process. I'm so glad that I did! She exceeded my expectations! I've received so many compliments on the work itself but also the coloring! I can't stop staring at it! Beyond satisfied! read more

Just got my second tattoo at Black Squirrel - which is my second tattoo ever :) Both times it was a smooth process and the shop is very welcoming. Plus the artists were patient with me as I'm pretty wimpy when it comes to pain tolerance. Love both the tattoos. I'm a cat mom so I had to get something kitty related. The paw tattoo was done by Jake just this Saturday at the Muddy Paws fundraiser they were hosting (and I found out the design I selected was Claire's who is a former student!). The kitty with the flowers was done by Shari a couple of years ago. Six flowers for six cats I've had over the years. The pics aren't super clear, but I'm very happy with my tattoos. read more

Clean studio, friendly and professional staff. My first tattoo experience was so great! I scheduled in advance, coming from the east coast to my late husband's hometown, Omaha. I was immediately welcomed and put at ease - I had never stepped foot into a tattoo place before, and didn't know what to expect. I had some ideas for a very personal tribute piece and Jake Parsons was AWESOME. Very chill vibe, listened carefully, cracked jokes and incorporated my ideas into a beautiful piece of art. I have had so many compliments since returning home. I wear this tribute with so much pride. NO REGRETS. If you're on the fence, get off it and book now. Thanks, Jake and Black Squirrel Omaha team. You guys ROCK! read more

Best Tattoo Studio in the Omaha area. Lyndon, the artist who did my tattoo was amazing. So communicative, and talented. You can tell the whole time how much he cares about doing his best work and making the tattoo an overall great experience. By far the best artist i've had tattoo me. 11/10 experience. read more

I started my tattoo journey at Big Brain to get a quote. First of all, I came in and was treated as if they were doing me a favor. After being quoted they didn't even offer to help me get what I wanted within my price range. The same day, I came into Black Squirrel. They told me the same price but they also tried to help me find something in my price range. I finally ended up getting my tattoo on April 7th. Kenny did my tattoo and he did amazingly. I'm completely in love and I'll be coming back! read more

called last minute for a new tattoo. without going into crazy detail Eric went above and beyond, great artist, great vibe, left so much calmer and way euphoric that can only come with genuine people. read more

I've been in the process of getting a cover-up chest piece done here by Penny Stahr for about 3 months now, and I've gotta say as someone with a good amount of ink, this is one of if not the best shop I've been to. Now with tattoo shops you expect a certain amount of attitude and a specific personality when you walk through the door, but this really isn't much the case here. The staff is friendly and professional, and the work is fantastic. Please be aware that with tattoos you get what you pay for. Sure you can go somewhere and pay 30 bucks and get a scratcher to put a half-assed butterfly on your hip, and have it fade and heal weird, and possibly still be raised a year later. OR, you can go to a good shop like black squirrel and you'll pay ~120/hour, but the quality of the work is so well worth it. Can't recommend this shop enough. read more

The best in Omaha. They have clear lines- which I hate when I see a tattoo that doesn't have clear and concise lines. Steady hands. The place is very clean. Prices were great. read more

Thanks Mike for helping my daughter & I with our amazing bee tattoos you were professional and made the time in the chair easy

I got my first tattoo at Black Squirrel and it was such an awesome experience. I was nervous because it was my first tattoo but Patrick walked me through the whole process and made me feel at home. All of the artists are EXTREMELY talented. I would highly recommend this place to everyone looking to get a tattoo done in Omaha. read more

I went in and got great customer service from the front desk, very polite and specific. The tattoo i I got was very well done and detailed and I only payed 90$ for a pretty good sized tattoo on my forearm. read more

I had a FANTASTIC experience here. I was in town visiting a girlfriend when we decided on a whim to get matching deathstar tattoos (because Galactic empire rules). After reading several reviews we ended up at Black Squirrel. They took our walk-in right away and we worked with James, who was stellar. The staff & the whole experience was great. I got a chance to look at several of the artists portfolios and they are extremely impressive. If I lived in Omaha I would certainly come here for a custom piece. read more

I have been here 3 times for myself and 1 time for a friend. I have to say I will always be returning here. I had 2 of mine done by Shari and my biggest one done by Stacey. Shari gave me my first tattoo and she was very informative on the step by step and made sure I was as comfortable as possible. And she also did my second tattoo and during the process made sure I was doing okay. My biggest tattoo was done by Stacey which was about a 4-5 hour process. Very comfortable! She did so good! I am very pleased with the results and everything surrounding my appointments. When planning my tattoos, the communication was amazing and very responsive and even the in person consulting was absolutely a gem. I cannot wait to plan my next tattoo here! read more

Honestly love this place, all of the workers are very friendly and make you feel very comfortable. Also my tattoo is amazing thank you guys! read more

I recommended my sister to this shop because I've only ever heard good things about it and was planning on getting a part of my sleeve done there. She went in today, and her artist acted like he wanted nothing less than to tattoo her. She left without any sort of aftercare instruction, and she felt uncomfortable the whole time. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because of the other great things I've heard. I would NEVER go there after what happened today. There is no reason a tattoo artist should treat you poorly when you are making a decision that will be in your skin for the rest of your life. I have never been so disappointed in my life. read more

I've gotten most of my tattoos here by Matt D. and one by Mel. I have had a few large pieces done. I came in a few months before I wanted to get tattooed as I know a talented artist will be booked well over a month at a time. I always make an appointment for a consultation as I like to talk directly with the artist. This is a must or you are going to go through the receptionist and have her take it to the artist. Which is OK because I feel she is very knowledgeable on the subject of tattoos. I usually bring in a portfolio of references that pertain to my idea. Matt is very aware as to what will work and what does not. It doesn't mean he does not want to tattoo you. Remember this is a lifetime commitment. Matt and Mel have put together some unique and beautiful work for me. I am always treated with respect. This is a very upscale shop with private rooms. I've been to a few of the other well known shops and I have to say I only trust Black Squirrel as I know they are honest and stand by their work. read more

James Martin started my second tattoo on Sunday. After 4 hours it already looks spectacular. He is a true artist and puts a great deal of thought into his pieces. He took my ideas and incorporated them into an incredible design. Can't wait for the second sitting to finish it up! The staff are all really friendly even though I am older than ALL of them. No attitude here at all, just people that appreciate great art. Looking for a tattoo? Look no farther! read more

Incredibly talented artists and a very friendly atmosphere. Very comfortable the whole time. I recommend to all my friends.

Came here after getting snubbed by Big Brain. The venue is impressive but the staff blew me away with their willingness to work with my sister and me on our designs. It was my first tattoo, and they never made me feel stupid for asking lots of questions. 100% would recommend. read more

I've had every tattoo done by one BS artist or another, and they've all been great to work with. Highly recommend! These guys are awesome.

This shop was a life saver! Very clean, the artists are super friendly. A friend and myself walked in last minute on a Wednesday to get very small matching tattoos. They got us in and out in less than half an hour. The shop minimum was $50 and I tipped my artist 10 because it was fast, clean, and exactly what I wanted. I would go there again! read more

Mel, is awesome!! I got work done by her when she was still at her previous shop. She started a sleeve for me (that i still need to get finished) but she did an amazing job. Came in on a day off and wanted a customized tattoo done. I had been thinking about getting this specific piece for years, but kept putting it off. Chris asked about my ideas and I gave him a few examples I had printed off. He asked for an hour to draw it up, so I came back an hour later and he started the tattoo. It came out better than I had even imagined it in my mind. I highly recommend the shop and Chris!! read more

Matt and Mel are as trusted as can be when it comes to Omaha tattoo artists! I recently finished my back piece with Mel and I have to say it's amazing. For not knowing excatly what I wanted but having a vauge idea, she created a master piece!!! The shop it's self is beautiful, very high end. The rooms are private, clean and beautifully decorated. I can't wait to start my next tattoo. If your looking for a unique tattoo, may be you have an idea but your not quite sure? This is the place to go!!!! read more

This is by far my favorite tattoo shop in Omaha. I'm incredibly picky when it comes to somebody putting ink on my skin; so after looking at countless portfolios Matt turned out to be my top choice. He has done three tattoos on my arm so far and I couldn't be happier with the results (hence the reason I go back). I haven't personally had any work done by Mel, but I've seen her impressive work on others. These artists can't seem to disappoint. The shop is very clean and in a great location in the heart of midtown. I recently moved to Chicago, but could easily see myself driving back for more work done! read more

I chose Black Squirrel based on my sister's recommendation and ended up very happy. Chris did a fantastic job for my first tattoo. Very respectful staff - easy appointment scheduling - very immersive environment. Though I would like to leave a bland vague 2 star comment stating how much I disliked the place - I cannot :). Thanks Chris & Black Squirrel for a great experience. read more

Mel was referred to me by a friend who has awesome tattoos. The minute I sat in the chair I felt at home. Mel had taken my thoughts and designed exactly what I was looking for. I got work done by Matt D. I have numerous other tattoos but his work is, hands down, the best. Not only are his pieces amazing, he is also reliable. And the shops atmosphere is just as impressive. I highly recommend them and know I won't be going anywhere else in the future. read more

I have gotten 6 out of the 7 tattoos I have here and I have gone to multiple artists and have never had a bad experience. The staff is always willing to help you out and make you feel welcome!
