I made a deal with my daughter that if we went and donated blood (at Nebraska Community Blood Bank! Not here!), then we could come here and get holes punched in our ears. So we did. I got a cartilage piercing and she got a flat. Lizzy was our piercer and she was great. I totally recommend her. It was $50 to have this done, unless you want to upgrade the jewelry. There were ample choices of the regular ones though so that wasn't a problem, I did not check prices at other places so I don't know if this is typical. They recommended coming in after a few weeks so they can resize the piece, after swelling goes down. There is no extra charge for this. Any future adjustments are free as well, even if you purchase the jewelry elsewhere. read more

i came in recently to get a tattoo and it's honestly bad. The lines are crooked, the shading is off, the placement is off centered, and the quality is very bad. I have to wait 12 weeks for it to heal and get it lasered off. I wouldn't recommend getting a tattoo here, I came in for my piercings and it was honestly a good experience, but the tattoo is just not good. Don't go to tattoo chains like these because they will hire anyone, almost like a McDonald's. read more

I walked in and they had people at the front desk, so I began to browse. Once it was my turn, they were super friendly. I let them know I was just shopping for new jewelry and how my nose stud had fallen out. They said that was fine and asked questions about how long it had been out, reassuring me it would be fine. They then sent over a wonderful girly-pop who was very knowledgeable about these piercings and what the difference was. After that, I went to the piercer to have them professionally installed because I didn't want to risk doing something wrong or losing my brand new stud. The piercer was great and we made jokes and just talked through the whole process. I'm so glad my vacation ended with me also treating myself. My experience wasn't awful at Big Brain, the people were fine, but the result of my piercing is not ideal. I had gone in to get a nostril piercing and the piercer used Q-Tip's to brace my nostril instead of a clamp or a receiving tube, which is the standard practice for piercing a nostril. I did question this as a q-tip is not standard practice I have ever received before, and I have two other nostril piercings on the other side of my nose from a different shop. The piercer at big brain told me that this was a method she was taught in her apprenticeship. I'm certain the instability of the Q-Tip's made the piercing crooked as it is not straight in my nose, in addition to being placed too high. I did appreciate that they provided me a discount, but in my opinion this service should have been free due to the improper piercing technique and the placement being incorrect. When we looked at the marking on my nose before my nostril was actually pierced it was in-line with my other nostril piercing that I wanted it lined up with, so I again am assuming the misplacement is due to the instability of Q-tips being used in place of the clamps or receiving tube. The piercer also offered to redo the piercing and move it down, but with the improper technique I was not confident in the piercer's abilities, nor did I want her to pierce it again. I also know how to care for piercings, as I have my fair share of them, but I was not informed of any aftercare for the piercing, which is also a malpractice from a piercing shop. I would definitely recommend picking another shop for piercings if you are wanting to get one. read more

They are ignorant of the law, which is no excuse for not complying with it. NO ONE CAN LEGALLY ASK ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR SERVICE ANIMAL OR YOUR DISABILITY. My GFs and I decided to get triplet nose piercings, several places I called, you either had to book an appointment, was out of jewelry (kinda sketch) or not doing them because of COVID. I went here to get my conch pierced. All of my college friends stated that this was the best place to get it done at in Omaha. Little did I know this piercing would get an extreme infection and cause me to go to the hospital. They told me to clean my piercing with antibacterial soap and there was pudding coming out. I messaged them explaining how I was worried about the discharge and they told me it was normal with a new piercing. So I kept doing my daily activities until it hurt so bad one day and had to get the piercing removed and brought to the ER to help drain the infection out. Now I have a bolster in my ear to help it go to normal size. I'm upset that I was told it was normal when in fact it was not normal. At this point buy a fake earring off of Etsy. read more

My wife and I decided to get matching tattoos... LOVE THEM!!!!! The Good: Big Brain is a well established parlor with great artists and i had a tat done there about 17 years ago. The work was great and our artist, Jason Brandon, did a wonderful job with his tools. Setting the appointment and refining our art was also very easy and all the staff we dealt with was very nice and accommodating. The Bad: Not really bad I guess but having to wait almost 6 weeks to get an appointment felt like a year lol. The only downside of the whole experience was that our artist, after giving us feedback on the design and us rejecting his input, kept stressing to us how we would regret our decision down the road and beg him to change it. It had to do with having 3 feathers on one side and 4 on the other of the 2 arrows (these represent how many kids my wife had and how many kids I have). He felt it should be even on each side. Our decision to keep it at 3 and 4 to represent our kids was very important Tony's and somewhat of a turnoff that he tried for 10 minutes to convince us to change it and told us "fine sink it yourself then..." The Ugly Truth: Our artist did a great job!!! He was a treat to work with once we got on the chair and it didn't take long to get it done. Setting up the appointment and refining the art we wanted also was a breeze and they made sure we would be satisfied with our ink. We are glad we stuck to our guns and defended our position as to why we wanted it done the way we did. I know he only did his job of making sure we would not be dissatisfied once its done and can't be changed. We will come back for more tattoos and will be happy to work with Jason Brandon again. I got my triple lobes and double helix here, both times it hurt more than I think it should have and I wasn't given proper care directions (the earrings fell out 3 weeks after piercing because I didn't know I had to tighten them). I've gotten technically 2 tattoos here but the second one was just expanding the first. I honestly forget who did them since this was 8 years ago, but the color is still vibrant and solid on them and the experience (my first tattoo) was pretty good. The guy who did them was kind and It really didn't hurt. Maybe that was due to the fact it's on my upper shoulder? Who knows. My ONLY complaint is the price. the first one was the flower itself he charged me $80 for it, I dunno if he cut me a deal because he felt sorry for me or what but when I went back to have my husband's name and 3 lines added he changed me another $80 saying it was a fair price. The piercing staff os extremely professional, very knowledgeable, and doesnt charge outrageous "handling" fees like some shops do. The shop is clean, bright, and doesnt feel dingy in the slightest. If i didnt already have an artist for my ink I would absolutely look at big brain for a tattoo studio -- they are legendary locally after all. Met the artist, described the tattoo on my ring finger to represent my marriage to my wife and how important this ring tattoo was being that I have a brachial plexus injury and cannot feel that hand or I cannot wear a regular ring wedding band. Made the appointment and left my $40 deposit. Come the morning of the appointment. My wife and I were in the emergency room the night prior and found out that she is going into emergency surgery The following day and we are stuck at the hospital for one more night. The surgery is related to the heart. Went to Big Brain and explain to The girl behind the counter who had no sympathy and was actually kind of a bitch would not reschedule my appointment without having me leave another $40 deposit and losing my $40 deposit. I understand that they have policies but in this situation when it comes to heart surgery and being in the hospital there should be exceptions. The attitude and non-sympathy from the girl at the counter and the artist are unacceptable. I will not go back there for piercings or any other tattoos and would not recommend anyone else for their non-professionalism. read more

The staff here are true professionals and artists. They give honest opinions of tattoo ideas and truly advise people on how to get a tattoo that will last for years, and continue to look good over time. So far I have gotten two tattoos and have been incredibly impressed. Brandon Adams was my tattoo artist and not only can he tattoo he's a great guy to talk to and spend time with. Ear piercing was done great! I understand piercings are walk-in only, however, everyone that was there before us were helped, obviously. After basically the entire building was empty they still had more people coming and were helped before us (they might've had an appointment for a tattoo, but I don't think tattoos last 3 minutes as the people arrived after us came back up almost immediately). There was a board to choose the jewelry for the piercing, I'm pointing at them, slightly touching it as well as my bf, to which the piercer goes, don't touch those, we use those for piercings. I'm sorry? Not too knowledgeable on piercings but I can't imagine that's sanitary in any way? Hundreds of people looking at the same board to choose from, how do you know what's been touched? I would not want my piercing to come from that board. Everything else seemed greatly sanitized, a part from the infested earring board. read more

When I worked downtown I got to know some of the guys here and so I got a tattoo when I was 18. At the time I was obviously thrilled... now that I know a little more about the process I suspect that I was tattooed by someone still learning... which, maybe I should have been told upfront. But like I said, when I was 18 I probably wouldn't have cared anyway. Long story short, that particular tattoo is visibly raised up from those around it (which I've gotten since then). Did it not heal right, is it the result of the ultra heavy lines and tons of black ink it contains? Who knows, all I know is that I was impressed at the time... not so much now but I definitely don't regret it. I don't really have any other experience or insight (that I can remember) about BB and have heard good things about them since. That being said, everyone has different taste. So visit a couple of shops and talk with various artists until you find someone who fits in with your taste and can meet your needs. read more

I walked in on Valentine's Day to get my nostril pierced. I was told it would be about a 15 minute wait but it was less than that. The piercer took me back and asked if I had any questions. I asked if they only pierced with studs and he said yes and explained why, thoroughly but quickly which I appreciate. He marked where he was going to pierce and I asked if I'd be able to put a small hoop there that would be snug against my nostril and he said yes. But he also brought out a tool to measure the distance from the hole to the edge of my nostril and showed me exactly why he placed it there, and the size hoop I would need. I like that he backed his reasoning with actually measuring my face lol. Little things like that, I really appreciate! That was also the least painful piercing I have ever gotten!
