Unprofessional dentist, rude, no bedside manner, very arrogant. tried telling him I could feel the needle. My mouth was numb, yet I felt that needle! He told me not to put my hand up to stop moving sorry I was kind of screaming and squirming in the damn chair, but I was in some pain as I felt the needle, you rude jerk! I also have vertigo and I can't lie flat. I cannot help that. A dentist office works with the public. I cannot imagine. I am the only patient that cannot lie flat. This is not the problem of the patient. This is the problem of the dentist office if they are not prepared for this and or do you not know how to handle it you do not take it out on the patient. Don't give me attitude about it. If you don't know how to handle someone that isn't 100% healthy and you're a doctor? I don't know what to tell you all I know is I will not be going back and he's lucky. I don't sue him. I felt every bit of that needle! Go elsewhere, save yourself the headache. read more

Went here for a couple years. They are always pushing extra work on you. They said it was even mandatory for me to get deep cleanings and check ups every 3-4 months which I thought was excessive. In addition to the upsells they have an obnoxious check in policy and are always calling for whatever reason. So glad I found somewhere to go after those 2 years because the new place I'm going to has never told me I needed deep cleans and I go just twice a year and everything is always on the up and up. I would never recommend this dentistry to another person ever this dentist has changed greatly since Covid very unprofessional. Extremely poor work had to have a cap completely redone. The cap fell off twice, and he was very rude and unwilling to help had to end up being a report through the dental association and through my insurance fighting it eventually I did win, however not without hours and hours of my time letters, and having to have a whole new cat put in on the same tooth for a third time I would never recommend this place read more

If one word could sum up this dentist office it would be: SCAM. On my first visit here for a basic cleaning they told me I had gum erosion and would have to have costly procedures to fix it. The hygienist and Dr. Ghim were really pushy and pushing me to have the service performed through scare tactics. I told him I could not afford it but he told me he would work out a payment plan. I still was skeptical because after 37 years of consistent dental care I have never been told I had gum erosion. I had two of the three treatments done and had to reschedule my third appointment because of an unexpected work trip. I called the day before to cancel. When I called a few weeks later to schedule my third treatment they would not schedule unless I paid a cancellation fee of $50. I was not told when I canceled the appointment that I would have to pay and I called over 24 hours before. A few months later I got a bill for two cancellations totaling $100 and I was billed for the third treatment I never received plus interest. I went to another dentist who told me my gums were fine and Dr. Ghim performed an unnecessary, costly, and painful procedure. Do not go here because they will lie to you and scam you. I have an active complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

Unnecessary treatment of my gums ... which was very painful, no understanding of his patients . Went to him when he just started up his business , I just had a baby , and was very stressed , he didn't treat me well, and we had disagreements on the treatment and instead of looking for options , he sent me a letter after my visit and said he will no longer treat me or my family . They also overcharged us , and my EOB and their portion were different . Maybe he is knowledgeable as knows his job, but he is definitely will overcharge you and he is not compassionate person. If you like understanding go to someone else. This doctor will make you feel like crap ! You will leave the office thinking that you have the worst teeth ever! Stay away ! read more

I left this office because I wasn't overly pleased with my repeat experiences. They always seemed consistent on sending me bills after I already paid for my office visits because they can't seem to work out what the insurance company's responsibility was. The last straw was when they sent me a bill for an additional amount I owed last December. I immediately wrote a check dated 12/24. It was cashed on the 4th of January. I was sent another attempt to collect a week ago and when I called, guess what? They took my money and put it on another person's account! I don't understand how you do that when the name on the check matches the name on my account. Save yourself frustration and visit another dentist. read more

The dentist reviewed my x-rays saw a crack in my crown. He said hey I can replace that for you I'll schedule you for next week. Next week rolls around I come in for the replacement crown he shoots me with Novocaine and then says I changed my mind I don't want to do the crown. While sitting there with my face numbed up wondering why, it's because he tried to upsell more treatment that was unnecessary. This Dentist has proven time and time again to be a great student of his profession, translating to being current in his techniques. He doesn't owe patients his details of training and courses, but through easygoing conversations, he shares that he welcomes mentoring from specialists in his services. He may not be a titled-oral surgeon, but he learns and gets advice from oral surgeons to perform at the level of a titled-oral surgeon. I can't imagine what dentists do to keep up with the equipment/techniques revolutions, while up against the costs of maintaining the equipment, in order to ensure accurate and up to date results.....but......Dr. Ghim seems to have figured it out! I've been his patient for 15 years or so, and watched him evolve from the lay-person patient view, regarding his equipment, his available services, his office protocols, his use of technology and patient tracking and checkins, and more. I'm a techi-of sorts, and my college degree is in Aerospace Structural Design; even though I'm not in the aero career field today, I have a desire to be current when it comes to technical stuff in life. His office personnel? We all know that if the office staff is rude, then 'its a rap'! We are going elsewhere, no matter how good the dentist is. In 15 years or so, Dr. Ghim has had a few changes, but not many, regarding his office staff...Guess what! I'm 100% in all of my visits, when it comes to being treated well (assistants, front desk, and The Important One-The Billing person).... Dr. Ghim? Personality is important! Again it can be a game changer, right? He is into sports, he has kids, he is married, he is not super young but not super old, he can smile, he has a sense of humor, and he doesn't make you feel like a failure if you slip up in your dental hygiene care.....this equates to a dentist who can talk about anything if it is what comforts your spirit while in the Feared Dental Office. Today, i had a major quadruple implant session, and the assistant and Dr. Ghim, continuosly, asked how I was doing, and totally, made sure that I was ok-and willing to continue, vs 'throwing the towel'. To top it off, he called me, at the of the day, to check on the inevitable pain-game, post dental work.... his scripts went in normal course...but pain is pain and you have to do what the tells you ...to manage it... Soooo, pricing? I kinda should recuse myself, since I have insurance...here is my attempt to share....I know that if you don't have insurance, all health services can be challenging. I would say, from my perspective with a middle class-ish income, with bills and with life happening around me, that he is kinda like NIKE, for it seems as if he has a range of options, that range in costs....again I'm not sure if my yelp helps in the area of costs. Conclusion!!!! I always leave, knowing that I am leaving in better shape than when I came into the office. 15 years, he is my ex's dentist, my son's as well....for the same period of time. I would avoid this business at all costs. I recently cracked a tooth and went to this dentist because it was near my home. I was told after the X-rays that I needed a root canal. I had already informed the dentist of my intense dental fears and he said he could prescribe a sedative to take prior so I wouldn't be so anxious. Went to the pharmacy to have the RX filled and was told it was missing some required info.called the dentist who told me, "Yeah, I can't prescribe those kinds of drugs." I asked why he knowingly wrote me a RX for a controlled substance when he cannot legally prescribe it and he said we could try the procedure without it. The staff were extremely pleasant during my visit, but this dentist has zero integrity and I question the legality of his actions. I do not recommend at all! read more

Upon arrival at the clinic I was impressed with the Covid - 19 protocol established and followed by Black Mountain Dental to protect both patient and employees. The facility is extremely clean and very well organized. Employees are very polite, caring and professional. I had a tooth extracted along with bone graft in preparation for an implant. Dr. Ghim extracted the tooth in a pain free procedure. His dental assistant (Mary) worked extremely well with Dr. Ghim. The two of them worked as one, an excellent example of team work. Dr Ghim and his staff kept me informed of procedures both verbally and in writing as what to expect as well as answering any question I had. In addition, the dental hygienist performed a fabulous cleaning prior to my tooth extraction. I highly recommend Dr. Ghim's practice. read more

Very disappointed with my recent visits here. I have been going here for a little over the year and need quite a bit of work on my teeth. Each time I come in for a filing it's like it's always worse than what they originally thought. I came in for two crowns and asked the ladies at the front to clarify, one on the right and one on the left. I was reassured several times by the ladies up front that one is a root canal and crown and one is a build up and crown. Went in and they started with the root canal and the file split. I now have to go to a root canal specialist, I understand that this happens. However, they did not do the second crown which is still needed and just sent me home. I have now lost the opportunity for my insurance to cover this work and will have to take it out of this years coverage which limits how much work I will be able to accomplish. It's unfortunate that I really needed help and felt like I was heading toward that smile I always wanted and now feel like this place is money hungry and not interested in my well being. When confronted about it I was told that it's because it was late in the year, but I should have left with at least one crown that day whether the root canal could be done or not. I have done so much work here and they don't follow up on anything from the last visits. The office is very nice and they have new equipment and can make crowns in house. I was so excited going to a good dentist after past experiences but I can no longer afford this place. This bit of miscommunication has now cost me hundreds of dollars. One star for office staff which is great. Zero for doctor who has no compassion for someone fearful of dental procedures. Condescending to my teenage son and to me the three times I've seen him. He has to have the last word and doesn't have any sympathy for fears or concerns. Today was the final straw. I told him i was afraid as i felt like i got an over dose of novocaine at my last visit, he said if i did, i would of been passed out in lobby. I told him actually i had to sit in the lobby for an hour before i felt like driving, he said next time he will call me an uber .....it wasnt until i called him out, that he started acting like he cared......he did apologize and say his personality is too make jokes. I am only terrified by one thing in life "THE DENTIST" Dr Ghim and his staff was so patient with me and made me feel at ease. Dr. Ghim spent more time explaining my situation to me than any other dentist I have known. The office and staff are outstanding and I had almost a zero wait time, 5 minutes max on both visits. This is a state of the art dentist with one day one visit crowns, no messing with temps and going back a week later to finish. I had two fillings to take care of and the whole procedure took 30 minutes without any pain. I was surprised. I've never done a review on Yelp but I had to come on here and say that this office is AMAZING! I was nervous because I haven't seen a dentist in sooo long, but Dr. Ghim is very professional and honest. My last dentist told me I needed a deep cleaning and periodontal treatments which would have been $400+. At that point I just didn't have that money. Upon inspection, Dr. Ghim told me I absolutely did not need any of that. He said everything looked good, especially considering I haven't been to a dentist in so long, and I just needed a good cleaning. He also has a fun chair side manner, cracking a few jokes with me. Everyone that I talked to from the time I got there to the time I left was so pleasant and awesome (I'm awful with names but I'll remember next time!). Best part: I initially came in only for my first visit/exams but they had a last minute opening for a cleaning and got me right in. I was in and out within 2 hours! Second best part: All new patient paperwork is done online through their website, making the process quick and easy. Bottom line, I will absolutely be returning. This place is not at all as what the reviews say. My husband was just there today and he said the xrays hurt his gums, the dentist was arrogant and pushy and basically putting down every other dentist out there. He wanted to do work that basically he has never heard of and the office lady kept pushing to get him to do the work too. We are new to the area and decided to try this office because of all the wonderful reviews. But its a different story when you are actually there in the office. I called the office just now to cancel all appointments I had scheduled there and she could care less! very cold snippy attitude. I don't know who they think they are but they are just a little office in Henderson that no one is this horrible town knows about! You are really NO BIG DEAL to anyone but yourselves! So sad. People here lack integrity and just basic kindness. If you are going to be a dentist you should be kind and patient and caring and be there to serve others...not yourself. I came to this dentist because I was having severe tooth pain. Turns out I needed a root canal. I was a nervous wreck after hearing from family root canals are horrible and very painful. Well I must say. I didn't feel a thing. He was wonderful and so was the stuff. There was practically no wait. I was so relaxed during my procedure I was just listening to Tom petty the whole time.
