I've been going to Paulette for massages for over a decade, I think. In my opinion she truly has magically healing hands.

I was referred to Paulette by a chiropractor who said he couldn't do much to help me with my aliment because I was so tight. He did not recommend getting a massage or stretching out in a sauna... he said I needed to see Paulette. He was right. She is a healer .... And I don't mean that in a mystical way (no chatting or spells here). I just think God has given her a gift to feel what is happening in my body and then she does stuff. All I know is I just finished an hour with her (I recommend the 90 when she can fit it in) and I was not only in a relaxed state, but I just felt happy.... Even joyful, as I slowly breathed and relaxed. She is the best!!! read more

Paulette is the best around! Best massage in the San Diego area, hands down. Her touch is intuitive and you won't be disappointed

Massage for chronic Lyme. Paulette is a miracle worker! I'd never drive this far for a standard healer, but I came here with the recommendation of a fellow Lyme patient, and dove in. I was sure I'd need surgery, I'd had my chiro and orthopedic surgeon in place, but my left hip just got so bad since the pain of the trump years then Covid. I could only sleep on my stomach or right hip, but even those got sore. I don't have three hips so uhoh! That's when I dove in. Paulette is a master healer. I've had plenty of massages but only one changed my life. Trust it. read more

I have now had a total of 5 massages with Paulette, which means I get my 6th massage for free!! This is part of the royalty rewards program. I bought 5 massages (90 min each) for myself (you can give away or use on your own), and have now earned the 6th massage (60 min but eligible for upgrade to 90 min). During the summer, she offered a special 90 min massage for only $70. This can be combined with the royalty rewards program. What a great deal! Again, Paulette was able to work on the tightness on my back and levatur scapula with a full body massage. She was very thorough and I left feeling so much better and with no more knots. Even though she uses lots of pressure, I didn't feel sore afterwards which sometimes happens with deep tissue massage. She even does some stretching during the massage. (As mentioned in my previous reviews, clients should be readily use to deep tissue/sports massage. She is not for newbies or people who like a "light" touch. She is good for the athlete, the person who gets regular massage, the person who likes a firm touch). Paulette is responsive to text and I have always been able to schedule my appointments quickly and at my convenience. read more

I was experiencing back pains over the weekend. I went the Black Magic Massage....the massage was so uplifting. The masseuse that worked on me made sure I was not leaving the way I came. So if, you have any knots in your back, legs or arms. Black Magic Massage is where you need to be if you are looking for quality service. read more

I received a massage as a gift to utilize while I was in San Diego with a friend. I had taken a tumble on bicycle the day before hitting my hip, elbow, and head ....the day after the massage I had no muscle soreness or pain.....she hit all the spots perfectly. If I lived in San Diego I would definitely make her a regular visit. Thank you, Paulette. read more

I've bought a couple of Paulette's packages. Overall highly recommend! Paulette is such a unique individual and has a very unique touch - her philosophy is to have YOUR body move HER hands - it is such a special, and in-tune with the body, way to perform a massage. She feels what is needed and that is how the "black magic" happens! She can be talkative, but if you want to be quiet and just breathe through the massage, she can also respect that. She does use a good amount of pressure, using her body as opposed to just forcing her fingers to do the work - I personally LOVE the pressure! Clean massage bed, clean unit, quiet, relaxing, love the beach sounds she plays. Happy to support her! I always feel healed when she is done. She knows exactly where I need it! I recommend the upgrade to 90 minutes. read more

Paulette is my Super Hero! Wonderworking Woman! She's been my massage therapist for a good decade and never ceases to amaze me. I remember my first massage I asked her if she was an energy worker because she was so intune. She replied, "No, it's just a natural gift." Supernatural is more like it! She can tell what's ailing you by watching you walk in. Then literally feels deep in your muscles and works out the knots of stuck energy. For those of you unfamiliar with this concept heres a simple explanation- everything is energy. Your past traumatic experiences can manifest into the physical, putting the body in a state of dis-ease. Paulette just does her thang and you benefit on the next level. This is no fluff massage. This is serious healing from a beautiful human who truly cares. read more

Totally unprofessional and disrespectful. My mother and I bought this as a groupon - had an emergency (I have a toddler) and called to cancel. When trying to reschedule our massages not only did she YELL at me for "wasting her time - I showed up and didn't get paid" (verbatim) - she also accused us of not calling to cancel. So, you did get paid bc we bought the groupon and we did call to cancel. We are now out money and feel totally disrespected. Word of advice - if you are in customer service treat clients with respect, it'll go a long way. read more

Quick to get you setup, professional in every way, amazingly intuitive approach to finding what ails you, Paulette is a massage genius. I have already (3 days post massage) recommended her to friends and family, and now, I recommend her massage services to you. She found my torn rotator cuff without prompting from me and moved it back where it belonged. Not that it will stay there, that's a bit too hopeful, but that she found it and manipulated it on her own. Ditto scar tissue associated with hip surgery. Her hands learn what your body tells her. If this is what "Black Magic" is, I'm a believer. Become a believer yourself. read more

Paulette Harris is a magician and true healer without rival. I have been receiving therapeutic massages for 41 years and she is the best massage therapist I have ever been to. I just finished an 8 month road trip through 47 states and had massages in many states and even in Egypt. None of the massage therapists in America or in Egypt compared to Paulette!!! She has massage moves that I have never received elsewhere such as her work on my IT band. This area is always sore due to my bicycling, walking/hiking and swimming workouts. I have been received therapeutic massage from Paulette since 2014 and she has helped me through numerous injuries and conditions such as my back going out, my rotator cuff surgery recovery and scar tissue from a large surgical incision. She eased my severe joint pain after several vaccinations such as Shingles 2 and Covid 2. After a treatment, I experience the best sleep, including a 13 hour sleep session after my last massage. That is amazing because I have insomnia and generally only sleep 4 to 6 hours per night If you are serious about addressing and resolving the muscle aches and pains in your body, I highly recommend Paulette Harris of Black Magic Massage. She will work her magic on your stress and pain, increase circulation and provide relaxation like no other massage therapist. One the best testaments to her skills is that I have purchased numerous gift certificates to provide my family, friends and co-workers the gift of relaxation and well being. I cannot think of a better gift to give during these stressful, Covid times. read more

How have I never posted a review before?! I've been going to Paulette for around 6 years. I walk out feeling taller, calmer, and straighter. It's hard to put into words how much Paulette's healing hands (and heart!) have meant to me over the past few years. I am suffering from chronic Lyme Disease and she is a *major player* in my healing journey. I can never thank her enough for the gift of healing that she is giving me. My husband also adores her. He couldn't play volleyball for months after a shoulder injury. He didn't tell her about it, but he walked out of her room and suddenly his shoulder was fixed and he was able to play again. Full of gratitude for the gift she brings into this world. Thank you, Paulette. read more

Paulette is great. I had a Groupon and was so excited to get an extra 30 minutes for just $20 more. That's a great deal! The pressure might be intense for some. At times, it hurt a bit, but I loved that because I knew it was releasing so much pent up stress and tension I've accumulated as a UC student. I was in 10 weeks of summer school classes this summer and had some health challenges so I was extremely overwhelmed and burnt out once it was all over. This experience melted all of that away and really brought me back to a peaceful center and I am so appreciative of that! She is such a caring person and I loved the experience. read more

I hate saying this but this was the worst massage that I have ever had. I came really close to walking out but thought it would get better (it didn't). I've always been able to communicate with massage therapists to go softer or add pressure but Paulette doesn't listen. I wish I didn't pay the extra $ to go to a 90 minute massage (was really 75 minutes but hell, I would have paid more $$ just to have gotten the fuck out!). I don't really mind that I wasted $$$ but I just wish it was a relaxing experience but it wasn't. I came in wanting a light Swedish but felt like I had an extremely deep pressure massage. I mean if you like deep tissue (and like pain!) I'm sure she is good for you. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 star because Paulette is a character and she was able to fit me in right after I called her. This just wasn't a good experience for me. The massage was painful. I was sore for 2 days. and I wasn't relaxed at all. read more

I bought 2 groupon: one for my girlfriend and I. We called Black Magic Massage numerous times and not a single response back from them. I immediately requested a refund. At this point, they deserve no star, but yelp won't let me post the review without a star. read more

Horrible experience. I had used a groupon here a year or 2 ago and wound up purchasing another when I noticed that they ran another deal. Booked my appointment (she recognized me from before) and showed up only for her to tell me that it's one groupon per person and that I should take it up with groupon. As far as policy is concerned that's fine, but maybe it would have been better to communicate this over the phone BEFORE I made plans for the appointment and drove all the way down there? Extremely rude. Do not recommend. read more

I received a groupon from a friend to have a massage by Ms Paulette. She got back to me after leaving her a message to schedule an appointment. Very polite & professional. The room and atmosphere was very nice and relaxing. She then said that if it becomes to rough to let her know. She took her time and made sure she reached every area of my body and kept a friendly conversation with me the whole time. She made me feel very comfortable and relaxed during my session. I feel so loose and relaxed, it was the best massage I've had and I'm very happy with my experience. Ms Paulette and her hands are AMAZING read more

Paulette was hands down the best I've ever had for deep tissue. I purchased her Groupon and called to make an appointment. She set me up the same week and also offered an additional 30mins option on top of what I had purchased and I took it because my body def needs it and the price she offered ridiculous deal. The address is 3065 rosecran place suite 103, your gps will take you to the backside of some building off the road. I ended up parking my car there and walking across two lots to find the building. Anyways, my overall experience was amazing. She was intuitive with what needed attention on my body without me even saying anything. She was sweet and accommodating and I would highly recommend because you cannot find value like this anywhere else. I booked a massage for my husband as well. I feel great. read more

Black Magic Massage - Massage Therapy Near Me - San Diego, California

I was feeling tight so I was crusin around groupon and found this awesome deal so I couldn't help but snatch it up! Called her a few days later and had an apt scheduled for the following week. The building is to the south of the shell station on old town ave. Go up the stairs and around the back-suite 205. So I open the door and was warmly greeted by Paulette. Filled out my paperwork and we were ready to roll. OH.MY.GOSH. I was in love at first rub! I've gotten countless massages but none like this. I love how she got in deep and really worked out all of my stiffness. I've NEVER had a therapist work on my butt or armpits, but she did and she was DAMN good at it. I just left and I feel like a million bucks. Can't wait to go back soon! If you go in, tell her Leah sent you :) read more

Black Magic is legit.. Miss Paulette keeps it real and has the perfect touch that melts away the tightest of tensions! By background, I suffer from high anxiety and as part of my stress management, I have turned to deep tissue massages as an outlet. Accordingly, Paulette did a great job putting my mind at ease and helping me relax. There wasn't any of that light-touch sissy massage nonsense.. She has more of medium/ deep pressured touch and was able to smooth away a lot of the tension I carry in my back and shoulders alone. She was able to hit hot spots I didn't even know existed.. You know, the spots where you press and it hurts so bad yet feels so good? Yea.. that kind ;) Overall, I am so thankful I was able to experience her touch as she is truly gifted. I am looking forward to my next session with her.. So go big or go home & treat yo self people.. 90 min session here I come!! read more

I have visited Paulette on three occasions, and every time she met and exceeded my expectation. Chronic issues that lingered awhile, now have dissipated or diminished to the point of barely noticeable. I am quite confident that few more visits would allow me to rid of my aches and pains entirely. Highly recommend! Two thumbs up. read more

5 star experience!! When I went into blackmagic massage and worked with paulette she made me feel right at home! She was nice and funny but genuinely concerned in helping me. I hurt my back in the gym and playing tennis so bad to the point where I could hardly walk! It was a struggle to bend over to put my shoes on or anything on for a matter of fact. Paulette Listened To my problems and immediately got right to work! She was very informative and let me know what and why she was working on areas and she always made sure I feeling relaxed. Paulette is not your average run on the mill massage therapist she is special! She has magic hands!! I don't know how she did it but I went from could barely walk on Wednesday to feeling as free as a bird on Friday! I did two sessions and it helped me so much! Thank you so much paulette you are awesome! I would definitely recommend blackmagic massage! read more

This was by far one of the best massages I've ever received. Paulette was 100% present during the entire massage. She is very intuitive and I could tell that she was undistracted and completely focused on what my body needed. I highly recommend upgrading to the 90 minute massage. I will be making this part of my monthly routine in self-care. read more

Oh yes, she has MAGIC! Magic hands, Paulette is amazing! Best massage I have had in a while! Paulette is so warm and friendly, she made me feel very comfortable immediately. I have had many massages, she gets right into where you need it the most. She was working on areas no one has really worked on and getting knots out that I never knew were there. I left feeling so relaxed, and the pain in my neck and shoulders is gone :) Great experience! She is so personable, I left feeling like I had known her much longer. She has a sincere passion and it shows when she works on you! I will definitely be going back and referring others!! read more

Found this place on groupon, decided to take a chance. Paulette is a fantstic masseuse. Her style of massage is slightly different than the massages I typically get from a spa. Her technique really helped removed tension and knots. I felt so relaxed afterwards. Great service. read more

I have to update my review because it is long due. I have seen Paulette for almost 2 years now and I would not change her for anyone else. I found out I was pregnant 9 months ago (due in a few days) and, after consulting with mt OB who cleared me for prenatal massages, I decided to see Paulette on a weekly basis not only to relax but also to help with the fluid retention which many women experience during pregnancy and I definitely fell into that category. It was one of the best investments I have done for me and for my soon-t-be-born baby. The weekly massage really helped with the fluid retention but, most importantly, they helped me relax during a time when I had continuous nausea and sometimes headaches (luckily these did not last long). I definitely recommend Paulette not only for relaxing massages but for prenatal ones as well. She does a fantastic job with her clients and meets you where you are at. She is super professional, flexible and works in a very nice studio. I definitely recommend her to anyone who wants to experience a truly wonderful massage. read more

Had the 90 minute massage with Paulette. She really is amazing. She takes her time with you and concentrates on any "special needs" you may have. She has a beautiful personality. I live 100 miles away, but would travel to San Diego to get another massage from her. Best I've ever had. Carolyn G. read more

I purchased this Groupon for a friend as a gift. After my friend shared with me how uncomfortable she felt there I can only give this place a 2 rating. read more

Paulette is a Dream come True! She is so-- thorough and it seems to me as though she also uses acupressure in addition to the rub down. She is one of a kind and simply amazing. I even felt taller when I walked out which this has never happened to me before. I didn't have to wait long for my appointment either. I believe her specialty is a deep massage, but, she is more than willing to accommodate whatever you prefer. I highly, highly recommend her and I feel very grateful I found her! read more

-1 star for not starting my appointment on time. 20 minutes late! She went over twenty minutes to make up for it but I had other things to do so I was no late. There was no one at reception so I just stood there confused as to whether or not I was in the correct unit. The sign on the door does not say "Black Magic Massage". It says some other women's name. -1 star for have rough hands. It was like having a rub down from a brick layer. -1 star for smelling like menthol cigarettes. -1 star for just a bad massage. Parts of it were relaxing but I walked away with a VERY sore and stiff neck and a pain in my hip from her. A day and a half later and my neck still hurts. + 1 star for a decent ocean waves white noise soundtrack. read more

AH-MAZING!!!! I'm so beyond glad I purchased the groupon, because I would have never experienced such amazingness! I've had so many disappointing massages that I went in kind of expecting the same. Boy I'm glad that wasn't the case. She definitely knows what's she's doing and you can tell that helping people is a passion. I left feeling refreshed and lite. I highly recommend getting a massage by Paulette and you'll leave feeling so much better. Thanks, Paulette! read more

Paulette definitely has magic! She worked my back sooo good. Best massage experience ive ever had. Im so glad i found her. I am absolutely becoming one of her regulars. Ive had many massages and Paulette has natural talent. Ive already told all of my family n friends n coworkers about her. Im a hairstylist and im on my feet all day. So she knew exactly where i needed her to work out my knots. I cant wait to go back. Shes the best. The best. read more

Unprofessional! Mentioned the word 'masseuse' instead of 'massage therapist' and she started rambling and ranting about the differences as if i'm supposed to know, also insinuating i wanted something other than a massage. Ridiculous attempt to book a massage. Skip this therapist, plenty others out there. read more

I had an amazing massage with Paulette! She is very personable and I feel 20 times better in my shoulders after her wonderful massage!

I've been to many massage therapists and have finally found someone I'd like to see regularly who is personable, convenient to get to, affordable, and knows what they're doing. Paulette is super sweet and greets you with a big smile. The room is nice and cozy with aromatherapy and she really cares about her clients and giving them the best experience. Paulette was very sweet and personable when I first came to see her about the horrible pain/discomfort I was experiencing. She was quick to decipher where the pain stemmed from and focused all her efforts and energy into healing. She was very kind and made me feel like I was completely taken care of without a care in the world. She worked on me for 90 minutes and even did stomach work, which I wasn't necessarily a huge fan of; however I know there will benefits from her doing so. I will certainly book another massage with Paulette again! read more
