Last Friday was my first time at this location of Therapy Day Spa, and my first time having a…read morefacial at any of the locations. I like that I was able to schedule a facial for 5:30. Lots of places don't have time slots that work for 9-5ers like myself. Anyway, parking can be a bit challenging in that area near the beach, but I found a spot close by. I was warmly greeted at the door. The lobby area has a large wall of products for sale. Also, there was cute artsy jewelry to look through. There is also a relaxing lounge to wait in, but I didn't have to wait at all. They were ready for me, even though I was a few minutes early. I don't remember the name of the person who gave me the facial, but she was great. She asked me a few questions about my skin. She also made some simple conversation in the beginning, but then was quiet so I could relax. I really liked the different masks and products they used. I felt like my skin was soft and hydrated at the end. The stuff smelled great too! I also like that I didn't feel pressured to get additional treatments or to buy anything in the end. The only thing that was a bit disappointing is that from the questions asked, I didn't really feel like they reviewed that questionnaire that you fill out before I come in. Maybe they did, but forgot some things. Regardless, it did not take away from my experience

I did not want to have to write this. I've been a loyal client of Therapy since 2014 and was…read moreunderstanding when prices went up a few times, especially since everything else has gotten more expensive. I believed the new owners were using the extra funds to upgrade the spa, buy new equipment and pay employees better, at least according to their emails. Sadly, there's been a rapid decline in the business. The spa now looks dingy and neglected, and there's a foul odor throughout. The quality of facial and massage services dropped so much due to the constant turnover that I had to stop coming altogether. I had been seeing Chelsea Bowman and the master facialist Ami Sheneman for years. Both left, and no one contacted me to let me know I wouldn't be seeing them for my next appointment. I only found out when I showed up and discovered I'd be seeing someone else. The new girl Kendall, bless her heart--she tried her best, but it just wasn't the same. On top of it when I asked the girls at the desk where Chelsea and Ami went, each time they looked scared and uncomfortable answering. For anyone wondering where Ami went: I found her! She's now at Pier to Point down the street at the other end of Voltaire. I've already been there and signed up for multiple memberships. I highly recommend you do the same. It's such a shame about this spa since it's been part of the community for so long. Edit in response to the owner's comment: Thank you for your response. I want to clarify that my review was written in good faith based solely on my personal experience as a long-time client of your spa. I did not create my account with any intention of coordinating negative reviews or promoting a competitor. I have never had a Yelp account prior to this, which is why it is new. I've also never left a Google review prior to this either. My intention was to share my honest disappointment about the recent changes and lack of transparency when my preferred practitioners left, which significantly impacted my experience. I understand privacy policies, but as a loyal client, I felt it would have been more considerate to inform me prior to my appointment that my practitioners would no longer be there, enabling me to make the decision if I wanted to see someone new or not. This would have allowed me to cancel, so I could continue my services with the professionals I had established trust with. I stand by my original review and hope future communication with clients will be handled with greater openness and respect. Thank you.

April is one of a kind…read more I had the unfortunate experience of moving away from this area. At our last session April said I would find another. I am here to say, after a year of searching, no one has come within striking distance of April. As corporate girlie and reluctant driver I spend a lot of time in the same position. Bra straps are not padded for some reason. Additionally, I am one of those people who enjoys being tenderized. I know that is not for everyone but I have never requested light pressure. April is intuitive, her strategy is flawless and restorative. I would float back to work from our sessions, glowing brighter than the sun in OB. I visited other therapists there, April is worth shifting your schedule. My biggest regret is not having at least one 90 minute session but she was easily my favorite biweekly self care appointment. I would teeter on the edge of awareness and sleep with her ability to release the tension from my neck, shoulders and hands. I'm sure I did sleep a few times because I was finally able to relax. "Everyone wants to work in tech"/s for me it is stressful mitigating a constant state of panic over beep boops. I have difficulty letting go and focusing on myself even for a moment. April gave me that. Until I visit San Diego again I will be endlessly searching for an irreplaceable experience. Thank you April. I hope all your days are filled with joy.

My husband and I use them for birthday and anniversary pampering and they have been consistently excellent. They come early to set up and are always friendly. It also saves time when we have limited time without out kiddo. The tables, heating pads, sheets, blankets, etc. make the experience very similar to what you'd get going out, and they bring the music, essential oils, everything needed-I'm always so impressed at their efficiency! Honestly, I don't know if I will ever go out for a massage again. The quality, convenience, and competitive pricing make it just too good to go anywhere else! Highly HIGHLY recommend if you like massages.
