Brett Meuret came to my home today to take care of a clogged shower drain. Brett arrived on time, greeted me in a polite, pleasant , professional manner. We discussed the problem and Brett got right to work. Brett helped me with the ceiling tiles in the basement that had been damaged when the shower overflowed onto the floor and leaked down into the basement. Then he went to the shower and power rodded the drain and discovered a giant wad of hair that had been obstructing the drain. He made sure that the drain was free flowing and then cleaned everything up so it was all neat and tidy. Brett was very knowledgeable and explained everything in a thorough manner. I would happily recommend Brett and Black-Haak Heating and Plumbing for any work of that nature that you need to have done. I've had good service from Black-Haak before, but this appointment was disappointing. I scheduled weeks ahead, left work early, and brought my kids to our tornado-damaged home. We waited outside for an hour, and no technician came. At the appointment time, I received a text saying I had to confirm or no one would come. I didn't get it until well after the tech was supposed to be there. I was later told they'd tried calling and had sent the technician home, but I received no calls or voicemails. Why wouldn't they just show up for the appointment? I wasn't told a second confirmation was required. I hope Black-Haak reviews what happened. read more

I had Black-Haak cut down my radiator, and upon a more detailed inspection after they left, Brennan the tech did not cut the radiator symmetrically under the window. Now I am unable to install my new cabinetry. When I asked Eric at Black-HAAK to come out and fix it, he initially quoted me at $250 to come fix their mistake. When I asked about this, he had to do an "investigation", then came back to me and said he would only charge me $100. To fix their mistake! The crazy thing is, I was about to move forward with $2000+ of work with them. Because of this, I very reasonably asked if they could waive the fee since it was their mistake they were fixing. They then began to ignore me! Completely unprofessional company that does not stand by the quality of their work. read more

I've literally never done this, and really don't want to, but here goes. On June 16th, 2026 someone from Black Haak came to our house to fix a backed up garbage disposal. Me and the kids went outside to play while the work was being done. About an hour-hour and a half of him being inside, he comes out to get me. He then brings me down to our basement, and explains that while he was working in the pipe something kind of "exploded" leading to garbage disposal remnants covering an entire section of our basement. I do think he cleaned up a good portion of it, but there was still so much damage. I have a small business selling secondhand clothes (not just any old thing- high end, quality, name brand pieces). I store them downstairs neatly folded in bins. At the time Black Haak came, a lot of the lids were off the bins, because frankly they were almost overflowing and I need more bins. With that in mind, when I came downstairs I saw several large piles of my clothes scattered around the floor, and I was honestly kind of in shock. He apologized, saying he did his best to get everything out of the way, and not even knowing what to say in the moment, I basically said "Oh, it's okay, you didn't mean to!" ‍ I'm not confrontational at all, and I also had no idea how bad it actually was at the time. It ended up being almost $1000 worth of inventory that was affected. I had to do 5 loads of laundry to wash everything that had stuff on it. Around $200 worth of inventory was completely ruined and had to be thrown out. To clarify, I wasn't upset that the explosion happened. I understand that things happen. I was upset that I was never informed of where he would be working in the basement, because I would've moved all of that away from him. I also feel like he should've made some attempt to clear things away before working, knowing that there was at least a possibility of things being damaged. By far the most disappointing thing about all of this has been the complete lack of communication from Black Haak about this. In the last 4 months, me and my husband have both made multiple attempts reaching out. We are always told that someone will be giving us a call back, but neither of us have been called back. This is probably long overdue, but we were really, REALLY hoping for some sort of resolution. We are all about extending grace to people, but there needs to be some accountability here. We are hoping for some communication, accountability, and a fair resolution to the damage that occurred. read more

We scheduled a service appointment for an assessment/inspection of our air conditioning unit to diagnose an issue and determine whether repairs were needed. During the visit, the technician performed repair work, including replacing wiring on the unit. No member of my household authorized repairs, approved an estimate, signed a work order, or authorization form. We were subsequently charged and required to pay immediately. Following the service call, we never received an invoice or documentation supporting the charges. I contacted the company multiple times requesting an invoice and to speak with management. My first two attempts were unsuccessful. It was not until I informed the receptionist that I intended to file a complaint that management finally returned my call. I requested that management contact me directly, as I was handling the matter. Instead, they contacted my husband, who then had me speak with them. During that conversation, management did not provide a name to me and stated that repairs had been made, which was the reason for the charge. Throughout the conversation, the manager was rude, dismissive, and repeatedly interrupted me. Rather than addressing my concerns regarding the lack of authorization, he repeatedly attempted to justify the charges by stating that repairs had been completed. I acknowledge that I raised my voice out of frustration from being continuously interrupted, only to then be told that I was not acting appropriately. I explained that I had not used vulgar language, was not being condescending, and had repeatedly asked him to stop interrupting me. There was no acknowledgment from management that performing and charging for repairs without authorization was improper. When I expressed concern that failing to provide an invoice was unethical, the manager argued with me rather than addressing the issue. I informed him that I have video footage of the interaction between my husband and the technician, which shows that no authorization was signed or verbally provided for repairs to be performed. The manager stated that the company would issue a refund and send someone to retrieve the materials that had been installed. Due to management's constant interruption, dismissive and unprofessional conduct, it became impossible to have a productive discussion. I did not feel comfortable continuing the conversation. I informed them that I would be filing a complaint with the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) and ended the call. I still have not received any invoice, work order, estimate, or other documentation related to the service call. Wisconsin consumer guidance states that businesses may not charge for unauthorized goods or services under Wis. Stat. § 100.195 read more

Black-Haak came out in the middle of an extreme cold snap to fix our broken furnace. The responded quickly to our request and were excellent communicators. Their technician, Johnny, was highly professional and knowledgeable. While he offered great advice and concerns to look for in the future, he did not try to up-sale us. We needed an estimate on connecting our wood burning furnace to our gas furnace. We called Black-Haak and they came out right away. The service guy was very knowledgeable and honest. In our situation he wouldn't recommend us to go forward with the project due to potentially causing more problems with our gas furnace and water heater. Unfortunately we didn't need their service but they do plumbing and because of their service today we will definitely give them a call to do our plumbing. Really nice company. read more

This company was great! We called last night. They came this morning and fixed everything by 3 today. The communication of the company was superb. They text pictures of the people coming to service the house. It made me feel comfortable letting the person Inside. All staff members wore masks, booties and gloves. They were all friendly. They made sure to solve the problem and install a new air conditioner Immediately. I highly recommend this company. I will use them again and refer them to my friends. Had them take my ac unit out to get a egress window put in. Called them back to reinstall the unit. The technician put it back in and when he tried to start it up he told me a thermostat was bad I needed a new one. He left and I got a new one and still didn't work. Called them back and said they couldn't come back for 4-7 days. I called another company they came over within a few hours took the technician less than 10 minutes to look at it and told me I had a blown fuze. read more

I really wanted to give this company a better review just because my first impression(s) was the 1st dealings I had with the customer service and the technician. No complaints with the 1st people I spoke with on the phone and the technician was really great. Reason for 1 star is because of price (like a previous reviewer also stated). My job...$40 part (OEM online), literally 5 minute fix and they wanted to charge $360 something!!! Can you please in all common sense tell me why it would cost that much?!! The girl I spoke with on the phone stated "Well thats what the price is!". Will not use them again. What an absolute rip off! This company was setup to come fix our furnace after it went out. The weather was -11 and wind chill -29. I explained I had two small children in the home and our house was 47 degrees and dropping. Unable to dispatch on New Year's Day due to holiday and being booked. Technician advised I would be in queue for day after. Never got a call in the morning, I had to call them. She then advised they would be unable to come to our house!!!! So please don't count on this company they will leave you and your family in the cold! read more

Black Haak Heating charged my son over $503 for a part that cost about $50. It was winter, late in the afternoon and very cold. They had him over a barrel and the took advantage of him. They also charged $149.95 just to come to his house. It cost $685.60 with tax to have a $50 part put in his furnace. read more
