All kinds of fun stuff. Gold panning (but I think we were off-season for gold panning). We stayed there just last week. You can build a fire. Our cabin had a gas grill that cooked very well. The cons: The flies were pretty bad -- inside and outside the cabin. Mostly inside the cabin it seemed! Their internet didn't work where our cabin was -- the furthest from the main office. Also, the bathrooms seemed a little far but maybe I am just picky about that. You had to walk over a bridge and past 3 cabins to get to it. That being said, we really enjoyed our time. This KOA made us spoiled because the next KOA wasn't half as good as this one.

They also have these very cool 2 level treehouses for some group sites there and they are really nice too. Gas grills included, fire pits, everything! Just put your trash out front and they come and grab it daily. Need ice?, a firewood bundle?..or maybe a pizza? All these things are a phone call away and they will deliver them right to your site. Pretty impressive. Nice little general store as well, a pool and a very nice area for the kids to play at. They sell propane, almost anything you need. I throughly enjoyed my stay at Larsson's and the Black Hills of South Dakota.

Riders beware before you book READ THIS!…read more We booked this spot based on the website stating "trail access" . I ended up calling due to questions around the permit needed to access trails. I was told to purchase one in town at the Conoco or somewhere else that sells them, ok fine no problem any other places that sell them?? Silence on the phone....crickets...ok ...then I asked about the trail access, hoping to get a site close to it because we have a side by side and I was told, and I quote "oh that trail is very small ", ok, how do we access the the other trails, "I am not sure you would have to call and find out ", really, you don't know the trail system but advertise trail access and have utv/atv pictures plastered on your website. Frustrating. When I said let me speak with my husband we may cancel if we can't access the trails, response was "ok"....huh?!? I mean, your not even going to ask me how you can help or get me a number or I mean just anything helpful? NOPE! She then went on about possible snow at the tree line and that we most likely couldn't ride, but to call and find out, nothing provided to help me find this out! How do you NOT know this, you have trail access? So again, why doesn't it say "seasonal" trail access or a disclaimer to verify trail access with maybe a link or something....anything!?? She then tells me, your UTV has to be licensed, street legal to ride the road to the other trails, but still doesn't know where they are but most likely closed. Small trail map on thier website but when I asked about this trail, wasn't sure if that was a trailhead or the small one she told me about, frustrating. Now, I fully understand, the person who was speaking to me, who was very nice and very pleasant, could be wrong or not understand trails, but for $65 dollars a night and a permit fee on a "hope" to ride, just no. I feel the website is misleading, staff not informed about trail system, SMH. Now, on the site they have a small trail map, is that the trail they are referring to the is small or is this a trail head, is there another trail, THEY HAD NO CLUE. I am aware that as a rider you have to do research, ultimately it's up to us to find trail maps, know the laws etc...but don't advertise trail access and you can't tell me where, how to access, how far is the trail, is it open.....basic questions, should have answers. We have been on a ton of trails, ORV parks, traveling through the US riding and each place provided so much more information, extremely helpful. We canceled at this Campsite due to lack of help or information. Booked today at 9:50am, called with questions then decided to cancel at 12:30pm same-day, still charged $25 dollars to cancel, I understand about covering cost and time, but honestly your staff is not well informed to help riders feel confident in booking/staying.

In any direction you go, you'll find signs to mark hiking trails. It is literally on the Mickelson Trail. It is also 15-60 minutes from other cities/towns that have attractions.

The kitchenette has a full size fridge, coffee pot (drip with mesh filter), dishware & utensils, microwave, and 2 burner cooktop. Bathroom has walk-in shower, towels, and hair dryer.TV has Roku and there's a picnic table & grill outside the front door. There's no place to hang clothes and the dusty old antique dresser has tiny drawers, so plan to live out of your suitcase. It's a quick 5 minute drive to Hill City which has several good restaurants and a grocery store. The hosts live and work onsite, always around, and are very good with communicating. Being close to the road is both good and bad since in the morning you could hear vehicles pass by. We found this place through Pass Port America & it's conviniently located close to Mount Rushmore (just a few minutes, about 20!?) & Hill City. The camp sites are pretty close together but you still get a picnic table. Their business sign has no lights so it's hard to find. Also, the camp site is really really dark at night, make sure you take a flashlight if you arrive at night to set up your hookups. We used Ken as our method of transportation since we had no car & didnt feel like hooking/unhooking the RV every night. Ken the only cab driver in Hill City is AWESOME! very nice & friendly.

Her three dogs are harmless but nonetheless scared the daylights out of me as they bounded toward me. There is a noisy highway close by -- since it's fairly close to Sturgis don't come near this place in August. If there is another place to stay I would suggest doing it. $25 with PA. It's fairly close to Crazy Horse and the town of Hill City.

There were trees providing some shade so it was nice not to sit and bake in the sun. The view is beautiful - you're really on the Needles Highway (87). The bathroom facilities are top notch. I was told they have been remodeled over the past year. If I had to say one negative, it was that we were unable to get a late checkout time so we paid for an extra evening to checkout 2.5 hours late. We will be staying here next year!

There are 3 big speed bumps in the main entrance and 4 smaller speed bumps. Maybe instead of that many speed bumps, a pool would have been wonderful. I called holy smoke resort to cancel the reservation 3 days after he made it. the reservation date was July 24 of this year. some 7 weeks from now. they kept $50.00 for the trouble of canceling the reservation even after I explained why we had to cancel. then I started reading some of the reviews and discovered that any review that gave a complaint or had a problem was discounted by management as if it were the customers fault.
