Definitely stop at the Black Diamond museum up the road and speak with the volunteer docents. They have many family and community stories about this formative history. Just past the cemetary, there is a small parking area next to the memorial on Cemetary Rd. The road is a combination of dirt and pavement at the time of this review.

I guess I was a bit too young to understand and know about the popular bands in the 60's & 70's, but I have heard this name - "Jimi Hendrix" many times, and especially about his performance of the Star Spangled Banner at Woodstock in 1969. As I got older, luckily there's YouTube, and it's just like I was able to go back in time as I got to watch, and see Jimi Hendrix in action. Gone too soon at a young age of 27, he will be forever remembered by his rare musical talent, and he was one of the greatest guitarist in the 20th century.

Definitely something that's nice to see in person while it's still here and not just a photograph! It's very nicely maintained by the city & the state historical society. Garden is open year-round and it's rentable for day use! Small parking lot for those who just want to check out the house, but for those people using the trail, Hogan Park is a great starting point for a quick and easy walk (you just might be able to catch a glimpse of the eagles on the way!). Not only does the house have beautiful architecture, both it and the grounds are very well maintained and includes a lovely garden that you're welcome to enjoy with plenty of flowers - I like how they've taken the time to clearly label things!

Here is something new. A courthouse with huge colorful Chihuly glass art decoration hanging from…read morethe ceiling right in the middle. How cool is that! First of all, the ancient building itself is quite a masterpiece. I love the big Rome style round roof with beautiful decorations. The rustic red brick and green sculptures reminds you of those old ages. Its old name 'UNION STATION' is still painted at one side of the building reminding people of its old glorious days. The first thing draw your eyes is the huge glass art piece hanging from the ceiling in the center. You can always a Chihuly piece from others by its distinctive beautiful colors and Medusa hair shape. Usually you expected to see one in fancy mall, hotel or museum, but not in a federal court house. You got to admit it sure added some color to this place. And at the second floor there is another Chihuly art piece, lots of color as well, and kind of like herd of tadpoles swimming in a pond. Downstairs is the cafeteria, restroom and some historical exhibitions. The soda machine here is quite cheap, only 50 cents for a can. Over the window you can see the glass museum cross the highway. Please note that bring your Id when visiting the place, because the guard will check it. It's a federal courthouse after all.

The all volunteer staff was helpful in explaining items. Loved that it was open on Sunday for us working people. It's even located in a historical building. Especially liked seeing the antique clothing and the automated turning display case with hundreds of small curios. Perfect fun day trip with a stop at the famous nearby Kettle Restaurant for breakfast. Highly recommend for history buffs and those seeking a relaxing outing. Beautiful country drive to get there. Berlin Wall Marker [Seattle WA]…read more Headed down Troll Avenue and right around the corner from the Fremont Troll is a chunk of concrete... but not just a chunk of concrete but a piece of history. Located under the Aurora Bridge (aka WA-99) and next to Cafe Turko is a priceless narrow piece of wall from the Berlin Wall. There is an inscription next to the slab of wall. It was placed there to commemorate the role of Boeing/Seattle in the 1948 Berlin Airlift... but wait, wasn't the Berlin Wall built in 1961? The piece arrived in Fremont in 2001. Review #3619

I…read morecame here with a friend on the 25th of August 2018 to do some exploring and learn about the watershed in Western Washington. The presentation of information was well done. Some sections were also very interactive! When we entered one area we picked up a ball. We then proceeded through the area putting our ball in different tubes depending on what water pathway we wanted to learn about and the ball would levitate/flow to the next station corresponding to a next stop on the water cycle or something of the like. That was very neat! I could easily see spending a few hours here. We rushed it a little, but it was still fun. The graphics for understanding the local watershed were very cool. Videos complemented a light up topographic model of the area and we got to see where our fresh water supply comes from. There was also information available about individual water towers in the Puget Sound area and we found one of the ones we had both driven past growing up. Informational brochures and handouts were available with water quality reports and tips for different water related issues such managing storm water. A very enjoyable and informative place to visit.

I also didn't have a review for the place previously which over time kind of convinced myself I never came here before. Even after exploring around I didn't really remember anything from before. So regardless if this is my first time or a refresher visit I paid a visit here recently. There is no entrance fee but there is a suggested donation. The little shop here is cute! There are several different sectors to these botanical gardens. Probably my favorite was one area with a lot of plants in bloom. Another area was a bit more wild and took me to a suspension foot bridge. I went across the bridge twice but kind of got a touch of vertigo as it is kind of high and the bridge wobbles a little as you walk. It's perfectly safe... it's just me and having a fear of heights. There are pleasant and tranquil water features as you wonder around and there was one with a pond with koi that I got in a short video. These gardens are very nice to kind of "get lost" in as you bond with nature and hopefully have a bit of peace with your thoughts from everyday life at least for a little while.
