We flirted on facebook and made a date to meet here on Valentine's day, I kinda wasn't sure if it was definitely a date or not because I'm fucking clueless sometimes but that's a whole other thing. Anyway so my first hike here Valentine's day, I missed the actual loop entrance which is at the intersection of Old Mill Road and Park Ave and ended up parking by an elementary school. It had snowed, it was cold and I prefer warm weather hiking but will do it in the cold and snow. The scenery was beautiful. However myself and the date that I wasn't sure was a date we didn't even make it a mile before we headed back. There was kissing involved with two middle aged people (glad I just made you throw up if you're reading this review) and I'll leave it at that and let your imagination go the rest of the way if you even want to dare. So today I came back before work to handle the hike by myself. I do hike with people sometimes but prefer to be alone in the woods. Sometimes but not always when I'm alone in the woods I come into some pretty hardcore life answers or ideas. I was in a rush to get through the loop as quickly as I could though before work so I didn't take the trail as slowly as I might have. I also got lost and missed the bridge to go over the lake and continue the loop trail, thankfully one of 4 fishermen I saw was able to give me directions. This trail is beautiful and amazing but there are certain parts where you don't have that lost in the woods feeling because of nearby highways, still it's an awesome somewhat easy trail to hit!

While some parks, such as Belmont Lake, really shine during autumn, Twin Lakes is a joy in spring, with many things blooming and a new crop of water fowl. You won't find a better or more dedicated captain and crew anywhere. The regulars are friendly and welcoming. The trips run anywhere from full day fluke to three quarter day sea bass. Tuna season in the canyon is about to begin. This season we go deep sea in 125' of water. I've fished all over Long Island and I always come back to my friends at Capt Lou fleet!

The skip drives the boat out of Freeport into the ocean about 3-4 miles before he tells us to drop our lines. Depending on where the fish are, the skip may move to another area with more fish. Fishing gear and bait are provided. You drop your line to the bottom of the ocean and wait. Besides fluke, you can catch see bass and sea robins. My friend caught an eel when we were above a reef. When the day is sunny, wear shorts, a t-shirt, hat and bring sunscreen. If you get seasick, take Dramamine, otherwise you'd be sick and waste your time on the boat. He made certain that we were fed always providing a box of Popeye chicken with biscuits giving us a bottle of water and soda and walking around the boat asking is everyone okay. Fishing buddies of America has seen a lot of members come and a lot of members go. I was very happy to be a part of a fishing trip that took place in North Carolina on a 24-hour fishing vessel where we caught lots of Vermilion snappers the size limit and the limit for two days as well as Grunt and triggerfish. It was my first experience and a great one. It's sad to say though in 2018 Mr Ernest Fernandez passed away. He does have friends of fishing buddies of America who are running their own charters as a matter of fact there is a trip on June 9th the boat is almost full will be a dedication to miss the earnest Fernandez will we will dedicate to the sea memories of mr. Fernandez. I think that is a great way to pay homage to him. We will also fish on this day in memory of mr. Fernandez for one of his favorite fish porgies. One of the trips was the best fluke fishing I have ever been involved in, with both big fish and a large number of fish being caught. Capt. Mike made good use of his knowledge of the fishing grounds and his array of electronics to put us on the fish time after time. On one of the trips I was fishing with two young cousins and Capt Mike and the mate were very patient with the boys, showing them how to fish and making it a great day for all. The boat was very well kept and both were extremely knowledgeable and helpful as well. They even called Braco's to have them cook our catch when we go back to the dock. We ended up with appx 20-30 fluke (12 keepers) including a 10lb monster! Couldn't thank these guys enough and we look forward to hitting the waters with them again soon.
