Coffee above average I got the cowboy plate as you will see in the pic. All this for around $13 after-tax. We were hungry coming out of the dinosaur museum, and my boyfriend's parents had recommended the Black Bear. For a Monday afternoon, I think we were lucky to have popped in when we did! I believe they close at 3pm, so plan accordingly! Anyway! We were warmly greeted by the waitress inside, and sat at a cute window table so we could look outside at the beautiful but still too chilly day outside. The menu is simple, but is fantastically traditional in the apple pie sense! The food is homemade and tastes like you would expect to see grandma in the back (sorry granny, I'll wash of you cook!). I got a BLT, and my boyfriend got the turkey sandwich special one croissant. Both were fantastic and his was served with a "special sauce" which I think was a tomato aoli. It was great!!! Finally, we got a slice (big!!!) of lemon meringue pie which was amazing. Ultimately, the recommendation was found absolutely due and I am happpy to pass it on to anyone else passing through or spending a day in Thermopolis! read more

By chance we stopped in for breakfast when the place we thought we wanted to go was closed. It was delicious! We got one of their breakfast burritos in a corn shell and it was possibly the largest we've ever seen. We also got the chicken friend steak and home fries ( which are sliced red potatoes fried with onion and garlic) and it was delicious and filled the plate. Service was fast and friendly and it wasn't expensive. As a bonus, the portions were so large we each got two meals out of our dish. Have been to the Black Bear Cafe frequently and never had a bad meal. Generous portions at both breakfast and lunch, served by friendly staff. We always feel comfortable bringing our out-of-town guests because the menu has such a great selection, each of us finds just what we want to eat. We appreciate that they open bright and early as we love morning hikes up Round Top and T Hill. Black Bear can get pretty busy on Sunday at brunch time but they manage to get everyone satisfied! read more
