A great new breakfast/coffee shop in Grayton Beach near 30a. My wife and I heard about this place opening up recently, so we had to see what the hype was about when we were down at the beach. From a first glance, I had lower expectations because it didn't seem the portion sizes were very large and the prices were a little higher. However, don't let that fool you. Both of us decided on a biscuit because we were hungry, and the portion size was HUGE for only $7! I had the Benton's Bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit and my wife had the egg and cheese biscuit(which also had lettuce). They were delicious and we both felt satisfied after eating (each sandwich is almost the size of 2 biscuits). We really enjoyed the coffee offered from Stumptown too. Both of us ordered an Americano and it was super smooth and full of flavor(as well as a nice caffeine jolt). I was surprised each cup was only $3! The staff was friendly, and our food and coffee were brought out within 5-10 minutes. That made a good impression on me. This place definitely competes with my favorite coffee/breakfast place that is in Birmingham. I will come back here when beach at the beach. read more

The only reason I'm giving Black Bear less than 5 stars is their coffee :( it just wasn't quite as good as their delightful pastries! I would highly recommend their cinnamon rolls, scones, and chocolate chip cookies! The bread of course is what they are known for so don't forget to pick up a loaf when you stop by! So many great choices, so little time! If visiting Seaside, you have to make this one of your breakfast tries. Baked items are the best around. Try the Morning Bun or the blueberry scones. Quite possibly the best fish dinner I had on 30-A this trip. It was a perfect balance of flavors between the succotash, purple rice grits and fish. Highly recommend any meal at Black Bear Bread but dinner there might have just turned into my favorite! read more

This is hands down the best bakery on 30A. We really love their bear claws and sweet croissants. Their own version of Pop Tarts also are a great variation on something the kids already like. Better get here early. They sell the good stuff fast after opening on the morning. read more

Good food. But was standing in front of the computer to order and the guy took a minute to acknowledge us (which is fine) but then he proceeded to say "sorry I was putting my lunch order in." Lol shoulda said anything other than that to your guests, buddy. Very weird staff attitude the whole time we were eating. Like "why are you asking me for things" look on their faces. I'm in the service industry and places like this who just bring you food and you do everything else, even get your own silverware and salt, and then expect people to tip 20% is so stupid. read more

Black bear is one of my favorite coffee shops in the area. They have the best Oatmeal I've ever had and delicious bagels. The drinks and food are little overpriced for example a side of fruit is $6 but I would rather come here then any Starbucks. The service is spotty sometimes it's great other times not so great but I know everyone is doing there best. They environment is very relaxed and it's a great spot to get some work done on the laptop. read more

We enjoyed brunch on a Sunday. The food was fresh and cooked to order. The coffee was good, but the Hummingbird Latte was excellent.

I waited about 20 minutes for smoked salmon toast. Did they have to smoke the salmon right then? Did they have to catch the salmon? I don't know. But I do know that people who got to the place way after me were sitting, getting served, and were finished before I got my food. Once my boyfriend politely let them know, they told us they lost our ticket then it took another like 4-5 minutes to get my food for a total of 25mins to get salmon toast - something you don't even have to cook. If they would have offered us something in return for the trouble they'd be getting 4 stars but they did not. For the price point this place doesn't have the customer service. Oh and cherry on top - there was a ticket INSIDE my to-go box atop my food (please see photo.) That's gross. happy Holidays. read more

The breakfast croissant sandwich was wonderful, as was the warm ricotta and honey on fresh sourdough toast. They sprinkled fresh mint and chili over the banana slices and honey. What an absolute TREASURE to find in Grayton! Stumptown coffee, friendly staff, and insanely good breakfast. Saw this place on yelp while on vacation and was determined to go. On our way back home we stopped for coffee and breakfast. Wish we could've stayed and eaten breakfast but we needed to catch the road. Ordered the Benton's Bacon Biscuit- the bacon was crazy good. crispy but not crunchy- and I loved the corn styled biscuit! I got one of the specials for my drink with almond milk- it was so tasty- will edit this when I find out what it was! such a cute little spot- perfect for a cozy day in, or to go for a day of driving. Omg this place is sooo good. A gem in the pandhandle area. Gréât breakfast spot for fresh croissants, cinnamon bons and tartines. Gréât also for lunch. They make all their bread fresh including the baguettes. The sandwiches are big and use the baguette and fill them with ham and cheese. The smoked salmon in wheat bread was amazing as well as their home made focaccia. Quite expensive (expect to pay $25 per person with drinks) but worth it! read more

Stopped in to pick up something sweet. We got the peanut butter, molasses, chocolate chip, and double chocolate cookies. All cookies were amazing! My husband slipped over to there bar area. We joined him and ended try all three oysters, apple cider mimosa and peanut butter stout. Oysters were the best we had on this trip, staff was friendly answered so many questions about the area. Our favorite weekend spot! Wide assortment of pastries, breads, and small bites/breakfast/lunch options. I've never been disappointed. Across from the cafe they also have a bar that offers drinks and other small bites. I always bring my little dog and no one seems to mind. This place is incredible. With so many places to choose from in this part of the 30A area, Black Bear Bread is a real find. Many of the local restaurants get their baked goods from these guys, so if the locals think it's good, it's probably pretty good. Only thing that was a little bit of concern is their location. Considering how popular they are they'd benefit from a larger space. They also have at least twice the number people working than they really need. I'm not complaning though. With all those people working, you never have to wait for service....except when ordering. Overall, their baked goods are awesome, service is top notch and their coffee bar is too. We were there twice during our recent summer vacation and we'll definitely return during future visits to this part of the 30A experience. read more

The menu is pretty extensive, and they have a lot of great options. The portion sizes are huge though so definitely share if you don't have a large appetite. This place is so cute! There are two small buildings with an outside seating area between. One side is the coffee shop and the other has a raw bar, cocktails and lounge seating. The ambiance was great, the place was beautifully decorated and it definitely has the "craft bar" feel. I ordered a cappuccino, mimosa and avocado toast. I, unfortunately, found the food and drinks to be overpriced and underwhelming. I would still revisit this place just for the atmosphere and I'd love to come back at night for cocktails and appetizers. read more

Appalled with the sanitation here. Baristas were clearly bored (even with a huge line) and were rubbing their hair, their eyes, faces, shirts, using their cell phones, etc (I saw all of this) while waiting on orders to come in (and drinking their own personal coffee). Then one barista sprinkled sea salt directly on her hand to dump into the coffee drink....absolutely disgusting and zero regard for not spreading germs. This was our very last stop on the trip and by far the worst experience. Now I have 18 dollars worth of coffee that I feel too grossed out to drink. read more

I'm very offended by this small coffee shop adding a mandatory 15% gratuity to simple takeout orders. Handing me a drip coffee, and a croissant, does not constitute service. I think it is ridiculous that they are that arrogant to demand 15% on every sale. And when it processes your credit card, and you need to sign, they even request more of a tip. read more
