There's plenty of grassy fields, trees, and more, offering nearly every site plenty of privacy. If however you're in a RV rig, and looking for a full hookup, they decided to place all 7 hookup spots right next to each other on a gravel island. You and your neighbors will be crammed like sardines, with no room for table, fire pits, nothing. Also, the facilities are in dire need of some TLC. Really too bad, since the campground itself has truly tremendous potential, but clearly lacks any incentive to up its game. If the county ever sells this park to a driven and creative entrepreneur, then this could become one of the best parks out there.

Well that's not the case at all with Cape Disappointment State Park. It is truly an amazing place. You get to see two lighthouses, beautiful views, the ocean and if you're lucky maybe even a whale. Which is exactly what we did see. We saw a Gray Whale lazing about in the water with it's fin treading water before quietly disappearing into the water. Of course taking in nature walks and hikes are a good option here too if it suits your fancy. I can definitely recommend very highly in regards to visiting this lovely park. It's truly a great one for the state!

We only did the Ecola Point viewpoint which has some short trails from the parking lot. You can see the lighthouse a little bit from some of the views, but probably not as well as grub the lighthouse view trail. Still amazing views tho down into Cannon Beach, haystack rock, etc. If you're going to visit a lot of state parks, I recommend getting the state park pass. Worth the price!

The beaches are absolutely gorgeous, even when it rains, and the beach access path is clearly defined and manicured. Goat head weeds are prevalent in this area, but the staff here takes the time to keep several areas well-maintained, manicured and weed-free so your pups have a comfy place to walk and play. It was in the low 60's but the pool was still great, used both days we were there. For a RV place it was nice and had trees in some spots. The spots are close together. About 5' of grass btw each spot. There are some spots with large grass areas, I imagine those are the premium spots. Reservations are best made by calling and leaving a message. Annie is very nice and a great host while there. Beach walk isn't too long, hose off area back at camp entrance.

We were passing through after visiting Olympic Park and looking for a hiking spot in the area. Lake…read moreSylvia seemed like a possibility so we stopped off last Sunday around 10am. There were a few hikers there, but otherwise mostly those preparing to fish. We didn't visit the camping section, but they've got a decent sized day-use area with a good amount of parking, tables, and restrooms. We took the forest loop trail that leads from the lake along the stream through the forest and back around to the day-use, about 2 1/2 miles. There are sections of the trail that are simply gorgeous, and other parts not quite as pretty. But the trail is pretty fun, ups and downs, winding with steps and bridges. While the path is completely passable right now, it was very muddy in many places. A bit precarious at times, as some of the soupiest, slickest spots happened to be on inclines and declines. You'll definitely need waterproof shoes and prepare to get dirty, but Sylvia is good for a quick hike. They've got some interesting educational info along the trail too...and the lake has a very peaceful feeling.

The waves weren't as big and dramatic as they could get but it was still very cool to see the ocean rolling so much. Normally we go when it's nice and tranquil but we finally took it in with a storm coming in to boot along with the tides which created a cool but really intense experience. The wind was very strong and it was raining so staying outside for a long time wasn't really an option. Still it was really a fun experience and this sandy beach is normally a great place to go to in the summer!

The park is clean, there is a laundry and bathroom/shower facility, as well as a soda machine. Close to town and the beach. I couldn't be happier with my choice of a place to stay. Also VERY dog friendly, which is a huge plus for me. I love dogs and my dog loves everybody here, and everyone is so nice to him.
