    Beach in front of park

Great rv park. Super clean and nice. Some potholes here and there but it slows people down. RV staff are nice and welcoming!

    Inside the studio cabin

We planned a family camping trip near the beach to just get away and relax so we chose the Long Beach location. We wanted to stay in cabins so this worked for us. I was told that my cabin was a studio and could sleep 6 adults. I personally disagree with this. When I arrived I felt this was a little small for 6 but a family of 4 maybe 5 and that would need to be with kids. The studio did NOT come with a stove. There was a microwave, sink, small refrigerator, table and a bathroom with a small shower. I guess this isn't really a complaint because it beats tent camping where your outside on the ground and walking to a public bathroom. There is ceiling fan and the cabin had 4 different windows that could also let air thru. There was a heater in the cabin as well. The Campsite was fairly full but it was clean and a quiet place to unwind. There was a couple fire pit areas, a small playground area where the kids played and a swimming pool that was actually open. I only stuck my foot in and the water and it was warm. I just preferred to spend my time at the beach that was within walking distance. I did not go into the playhouse but was told there's showers and a bathroom inside. It was about 8 to 10 minute drive to town which I loved being so close to everything. My biggest complaint is the cabins had picnic tables but there was some sort of equipment on them so we would not be able to eat outside on a table. I also didn't like being near the propane filling tank/station. I guess it has to be somewhere on the property right? Overall I'd recommend this place and I will be coming back to this location.

The property feels like a retreat with a lovely atmosphere that feels a world apart from Long Beach despite being so close in proximity to town. We didn't have time to make full use of the pool, sauna, or pickleball courts - but these amenities would be perfect for a rainy day at the coast and when we come back we'll make more time in our schedule to use them. Check-in/check-out was a breeze and staff was very pleasant. They let me borrow a lighter for a birthday cake which was much appreciated! The walk to the beach is very scenic and beautiful in itself. Highly recommend this resort!

Prior to this visit, the rooms were fairly basic, but very adequate. Today, we arrived to find a beautifully updated room, that feels much bigger and much cleaner than they previously were. We have new appliances, new countertop and backsplash, new floors, a larger couch, a huge king bed, a walk-in shower with a new vanity, and everything is just stunning. Very well done! From the bottom units, you have a small deck with a bench, and upper units have a balcony. All rooms overlook the dunes, and the higher ones can catch you a glimpse of the ocean. You spend the evening listening to the roar of the waves. It's so relaxing. In the main office area, you'll find a recreation room, vending machines, and espresso stand with good coffee, and a huge saline pool that's in a solarium type of building. Their fitness center is small but it's something. They love dogs, and it shows. You'll get a welcome pack for your mutt, and there's a lighthouse themed dog house in the parking lot that you can take pictures of your dog with. There's two TVs - you can stream from your device in the bedroom, or watch cable in the living room. You'll have a gas fireplace, a lounge chair, a couch that folds out into a bed with a nice, squishy mattress, and a two person dining table. The staff here have been here a long time, and it's always nice to see a familiar face when we arrive. Shout out to Kevin! Always friendly and helpful. It's about a five minute drive to downtown Long Beach, where you'll find a bakery, an arcade, and lots of shops and restaurants. Don't forget you can even drive on the beach! You'll love it here.

There's definitely a cool, curated vibe, and the coffee/tea setup in the lobby is a nice touch. I also appreciated the complimentary bikes and the ease of using them. That said, the rooms didn't quite live up to the price point (around $400+ for two weekend nights). The building itself feels older and a bit worn beneath the cosmetic updates. Our room, in particular, showed signs of heavy use -- the bed was noticeably worn and dipped in the middle, and some of the finishes felt a bit cheap or improvised. Noise was also an issue. Despite requesting a top-floor room, we were placed directly under the restaurant, and we could hear footsteps, banging, and general activity until about midnight each night. Soundproofing overall seemed pretty minimal, which made it hard to fully relax. There were also a few small inconveniences -- no hotel phone, no central air, limited trash space, and some quirky (but not very functional) design choices like exposed cable management. The spa had potential but fell short during our visit. One sauna door didn't close properly, another wasn't working at all, and the overall experience felt underwhelming given the atmosphere they're going for. I can see the appeal of this place -- especially for families or those drawn to its aesthetic -- but for the price and volume of guests they accommodate, I expected a bit more attention to detail and upkeep. With some improvements, it could really shine.

Close to the beach and walking trails. Lobby has a cafe and great drink selection of juice, soda and alcohol in the coolers. Hotel room 3/5- everything seemed clean at first but closer look the floor was dusty and filled with sand but due to the light color floor boards, so wear sandals or use the broom and dust pan provided in the room. There was no laundry bag or a hotel phone in the room so if you need anything or have any questions gotta head down to the front desk. There's also no central air and the room can get very warm and humid even with our heater off. During our 2 night stay we'd take the opportunity to leave our window cracked when we'd go out so the air can circulate. The mattress was bare-able and we even had conversations with other guests that shared they found the beds uncomfortable. The curtains were hard to open and close because they were broken. The room just felt empty and kinda sad. Pool 5/5- the spa and pool are in a separate building and they provide guests with robes and pool towel that's found in your room. Pool was nicely warm and steam barrels were the highlight of our stay. It was relaxing and provided a cozy ambiance during the winter.

We arrived shortly before check-in time at 4pm. We were provided with site information, parking permit, and wristbands/room cards. Somehow I ended up with a major room upgrade, which was greatly appreciated. I also appreciated the welcoming and congratulatory items: tote bag full of snacks, fresh baked cookies, wine, cider, jam, and various local business discounts. The overall site was large with onsite communal areas. We did not use any of them, but nice to know of its availability, such as: library, DVDs, onsite cafe & mini market, gaming area, workout room, pool and hot tub. Our home away from home for a week had two twin beds, a double Murphy bed, and a king bed, two bathrooms with amenities like extra towels, blowdryer, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash. There was also a washer/dryer, fully equipped kitchen, living room, and dining table & counter seating. There was also a patio with grill, 3 flatscreens, DVD player, fireplace, and overhead fans. Despite the WiFi availability, using our phone service as a hot spot proved to be faster and better connectivity. We felt the property was relatively safe and secure, had proximity to retail, activity venues (movie theater, horse corral, go-karts, kite store, bike rental, and mini golf) & dining sites, and great public beach access. Overall onsite staff were welcoming and professional. So why just three versus five stars? As a long time owner (well before WorldMark, Wyndham, and Travel & Leisure), there were things that weren't quite up to expectations. Dated interiors like faded or chipped trim and sills, visible debris on the window sills (dead fly), carpet (paint chips, bobby pin), dingy towels, sand in the washer, and dirty glassware/flatware. Let's just say we kept our socks on and that also demonstrated that the carpets weren't quite as clean or thoroughly vacuumed. Under the living room sofa cushions, more visible debris. I used Clorox wipes from home on lots of surfaces. I swept floors, put towels in piles by each tub, bagged up our collective trash, and even took our compostable/recyclables back home. We did our best to make it easier on Housekeeping to turn over our room. We even checked out an hour early, 9am instead of 10am. We also waited patiently earlier during our stay to deal with scheduled unit sprinkler system inspection. A few minutes stated on the phone ended up being 90 minutes. Other guests were loud or heavy footed, even after so-called quiet hours. I get it that it's a resort getaway, not a library. Lots of unattended kids on the elevator, running in the hallways. Entire groups taking up communal areas for hours on end. Enough said. Despite attending an owner's meeting last summer at another location, I had to attend yet another one here. Informative, but yet again, I left feeling not quite so VIP because I stood firm to not purchase additional credits and upgrades. Costly enough with owner dues and fees as is. Would I stay here again? Probably not. Other WorldMark properties along the WA & OR coasts have better upkeep. I've stayed at many WM sites in Canada, Washington, Oregon, and Hawaii. This was the first time so many anomalies stood out. Good to get away from it all to decompress and explore, but definitely glad to return home.

Upon arrival to check-in, I observed one person at the reception desk being helped by the sole staff member, plus several folks hanging out in the lobby. After checking that no one else was waiting, I sat down to wait. They all left and I was the only person waiting. Of course, a white woman strolled right up to the desk from outside just as the other guest left, and instead of telling her I was there first, or even acknowledging me at all, the white staff person just helped her. 2. They say that pets names are on a welcome board when you arrive. My dog's name was not there and the board was tucked away against a wall. 3. I'm traveling alone with a dog, so I unload everything before bringing my dog into the room. After lugging everything to the door, my key cards did not work. When I went back to reception, there was no apology, or anything about accountability. Simply "oh let me fix that." 4. The room says that the TV is equipped with AppleTV, and even has a special button for it. Does not actually work. 5. They say they provided cookies in the lobby between 4-6pm. I checked in just after 4pm and there were none. 6. I took my dog out to sightsee and when we same back, again with my hands full, the key cards did not work again. So, I have to leave my belongings at the door, and run to the lobby with my dog in tow, to get the fixed AGAIN. funny how that happened again. 7. When we did open the door to the room the first few times, the smell of "old lady perfume" was so strong. I asked the front desk if that was intentional and she said it must be a cleaning product. It is way too strong and I can still smell it on day 2, even after airing the room out as much as possible. 8. The shower head is covered with lime, and the spray options do not all fully function due to how clogged the shower head is. 9. The bedding is way too light for the climate. So then you run the heater, and get too hot in the night. 10. The outdated fridge runs loudly at random times in the night. I'm on a long road trip with my dog as we move to Canada, and we've been on the road for 2 weeks and been to 5 states. I decided to splash out on this hotel because I'm a huge Goonies fan, and my dog loves the beach. Overall, I'm disappointed and I'd say this hotel is not worth it at all. I will not stay here again. For this amount of $$$, plus dog fees for me, this value is abysmal.

So: no need to worry about getting stuck with a unit that does not face the bay. *There are only 18 units in the whole hotel, each of them the same size: one bedroom, one bathroom, a living room with an electric fireplace, and a kitchenette. We always seek out places with kitchens or kitchenettes so we can cook in our unit are won't have to eat out every meal. One slight word of caution, though: these kitchenettes have a microwave and a stove top but no oven; and the refrigerator is pretty small. *The living room couch is also a hideabed, so the rooms technically sleep four each. There is a TV in both the living room and the bedroom. *The view of the bay is NOT a view of a beach, but there are some very positive things about this. First, the nightly rates are reasonable regardless of the time of year. Second, beyond a grassy area in front of the motel are tide flats, which fill up with water twice every 24 hours, at high tide. It's really fun to see the change when you're paying attention. Beyond the tide flats is the man-made Shoalwater Bay Berm, created to save Tokeland from the long term effects of increasingly severe weather events. The tide flats area between the hotel and the berm, that gets filled with water, is called Empire Spit. Google the area's tides for the day(s) you are there and you will know when to look for when the tide flats fill with sea water, as it doesn't stay full for very long. *The hotel is owned by the Shoalwater Bay Tribe and is on their land, as is the Shoalwater Bay Casino (the smallest casino I have ever been in). If you get a Players Club Card from the casino, which you do not have to do any gambling in the casino to get, you can use it to get 10% off your hotel booking. *The hotel has an outdoor pool that is heated, and a hot tub that is protected from the elements by a clear dome. There were no storms the two nights we stayed there, but I bet it would be fun to watch one from that hot tub. There is also a communal kitchen space for larger parties that can be booked for an extra fee. *I have seen other reviews complain about the lack of regular housekeeping, but this was not a big deal to us. And if you need fresh linens or toiletries, all you have to do is ask and the incredibly friendly staff will happily hook you up. In short, Tradewinds on the Bay is a modest place to stay that is also quite the hidden gem.
