Came on time, diagnosed the problem, removed all the ice, reassembled my freezer unit. Perfect!

My hand-me-down dryer went out a few months ago, and finally getting around to get it fixed. I…read moreshopped around for a few quotes on diagnostics, and this was the company with the best deal. Not only were they a good deal, I called on a Monday and they were out here by Wednesday. Chris the tech came over and the thing was fixed in about an hour and a half! He even made sure to let me know more about my mystery machine, that it had been worked on prior, what parts were changed, and let me know it was a good dryer. He even came with the parts just in case he could fix it during the diagnostic to avoid having to make multiple appointments. The appointment was fast, getting the appointment was easy and could happen in a timely manner so I didn't have to carry multiple loads to the laundry mat. I will be using them again as well as recommending them to my own friends and family. Great experience!

Then the day before our scheduled appt I receive a call asking if we can reschedule our appt for another day because they were going to be in Tahoe the day we had scheduled. I stated no, we planned ahead for this and my wife is taking the day off. She said no problem, she will squeeze us in and make it happen. Conveniently the day of our appt I receive a call from Lindsay saying that we will need to reschedule our appt because the technician is out sick. I told her that doesn't work for us, we already took the day off for this and can't take another day off. I asked if they could send another technician during a different time this day and was told no, they only have one technician. I'd recommend using another appliance repair company that has more than one technician and that values your time.

When he arrived, he was so friendly and willing to teach and explain what he was doing. Justine in the warranty department was equally fantastic and helpful throughout the process. I really appreciated their urgency, communication, and commitment to providing great customer service. I highly recommend Lake Appliance Repair. Ask for Christian!

I hired this company to repair a microwave and prepaid $180 for the initial service call. Based on…read morethe problem description provided in advance, the necessary replacement parts had already been ordered and were available when the technician arrived. Before beginning the repair, the technician advised that an additional $170 would be required to complete the work. Declining the additional charge would have meant forfeiting the initial $180 payment without having the appliance repaired. I authorized the additional charge, bringing the total cost to $350. Following the service, I contacted the office to request clarification regarding the additional fees. I was informed that the initial $180 service charge applied only if the appliance could be repaired without replacement parts. I was also advised that technicians have discretion to assess additional labor charges. These billing conditions had not been clearly communicated before the initial payment was collected. The repair involved replacing two plastic components, and the technician completed the entire visit in less than 50 minutes. When I raised these concerns with the service manager, he stated that the total charge fell within the company's "expected range" and declined to adjust the labor charges. He indicated that my feedback would be shared internally to potentially improve pricing transparency in the future. The manager also implied that other customers had previously been blindsided by unexpected charges. This suggests the company may already be aware of problems with its pricing disclosures, yet those problems remain unresolved. The central issue is not the cost of the repair itself, but the lack of clear disclosure regarding how charges are calculated and when additional fees may apply. If the company considers $350 an expected charge for this type of repair, that information should be communicated before accepting a substantial upfront payment. The technician performed the repair professionally, and I have no complaints regarding the quality of the work. However, the billing structure and lack of upfront disclosure created what I consider a deceptive transaction, leaving the customer financially committed before the full cost was presented. Based on this experience, I would not use this company again or recommend its services. Customers should request a comprehensive written estimate, including all potential labor charges and the conditions governing the initial service fee, before authorizing payment. Transparent pricing should be a standard business practice, not an improvement considered only after a customer raises a complaint.
