My sister and my dear friend enjoyed their time at the café for the first time, they even loved for what they have ordered! I loved the strawberry banana Nutella they had with my white iced mocha. The bread was a bit hard to bite, when I yank it so I used a knife to cut it to be easier for me (with no fork so I used my sister spoon :') The worker is really nice but had a bit of a hard time to understand my accent when I asked for a water bottle three times for my friend which I don't blame her but I did go up and ask for a water bottle since they didn't brought the water down to our table for her. I visited the Black & Brew location inside of the Downtown Lakeland Library. Very small, cute and relaxing area. The employees were very kind and the food looked good. I only ordered a cappuccino. I was not a fan of the coffee; very dark and burnt tasting. It's a nice location to work, but I'm not sure about the coffee. Maybe a different location will have different results. read more

I just got a 24 oz. Chai on ice. it's one of my favorite coffee drinks, if not my favorite. they make a really good one. Especially a lot better than Starbucks and LuckyGoat. The location I went to was my favorite as well which was the one by the Lakeland library. It's a really nice layout especially the patio area. Literally one of the best patio areas in Lakeland of all coffee shops and restaurants. I really enjoy this place! Oh and the service was great, too! read more

Black & Brew- a Lakeland staple! There's two locations in town- a downtown store and this one connected with the public library sitting right along Lake Morton. It totally gives off the cozy library vibes, and it's a wonderful place to sit, chill and do homework or chat. They have a small covered outdoor area to sit and pretty minimal seating inside. But if you can get a spot it's the best. Probably my favorite place in town to go do homework. Coffee here is almost close to unrivaled. They know how to whip up a specialty drink without overdoing it or being underwhelming. Impressive is the word. I always check the board of seasonal drinks because they create some fun ones. One of my favorite is definitely the turmeric chai latte. If you're hungry, we'll that's good because they do have food too. I'm a sucker for a good avocado or nutella toast (not together obviously, are you crazy?), and they have both here. You can get great coffee, good food, there's wifi (yeah the downtown one doesn't have free wifi), and friendly workers? It's all there ready for you! One tip, I'm not sure if it's only on Sundays but I went there before it opened on that day, and they gave the first person in line a free coffee right when they opened up! Located on the side of the library. Which by the way is under construction and had no seating inside. I was thirsty and needed a spot for wifi to get some work done on my laptop. The luxury of working remotely when you are on the east coast and three hours ahead of your Seattle office. It's a cute little spot and had a few tables inside but lots of seating outside, but when it's 98 degrees and humid in Florida you want some AC. Parked myself in a corner and got myself a nonalcoholic mojito. It was tasty and refreshing. I didn't order any food because I wasn't hungry, but maybe next time. read more

The Florida Southern location is tucked away on campus, but the atmosphere is peaceful and perfect for a college student. I highly recommend the gingerbread bred frappe! I love siting outside because it's completely covered and shady but not quiet. The patio area is dog friendly and great to catch up with friends as well! One of the exciting things about the downtown library is the fact that they have Black & Brew attached to it. I love the fact that I can go to the library and then sit at a sophisticated little cafe and have delicious coffee and something to eat. Black & Brew is set up lovely, upscale and sophisticated in appearance but still very comfortable inside, with a lovely outside patio. As soon as I walked in from the library, I was greeted with friendly smiles. All the young people working here were super friendly and appeared to really enjoy their jobs. I ordered a frozen caramel frappe and couldn't resist the Avocado Tartine (open faced sandwich with house made guacamole, olive oil and cilantro). Everything was prepared quickly and delivered to me at my table with a smile with real silverware on real plates. Absolutely delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The bread was from Born & Bread bakery, so it was extra good, the crust chewy but still almost melt in your mouth soft. At the end, I went to bus my dish like one does at a coffee shop, and found out that they do it for you. Nice. I really, really love this and cannot wait to try something else, next time I go to the library! read more

Who doesn't love B&B?! It's the best of the best. Their coffee is excellent. Their salads are 10/10 (RIP the Chorizo Salad ) And they have the vibe, as well. Only complaints: *Baked treats don't live up to the *high* quality of everything else *Often my order is wrong at the Lake Morton spot, which is my fave. I visited Black and Brew's Lake Morton location for the first time this weekend and tried the B.L.T.-ish sandwich. This sandwich was delicious! Soft bread was filled with creamy guacamole, soft hard-boiled egg slices, crisp bacon, juicy tomato slices and fresh spinach. The restaurant was taking Covid precautions seriously with all staff wearing face masks, hand sanitizing stations available for customers, and had outdoor seating available. read more

Coffee flavor is subjective, but this is the best espresso I've ever had, anywhere. Starbucks is not even close! Hillside is pretty close, Concord Coffee is too, but B&B remains my favorite. Today the shop had a test menu of breakfast sandwiches, I tried the praline bacon biscuit, with egg and Monterey Jack. Pretty good, biscuit tender without falling apart, bacon has some sweetness, egg & cheese make for a rich tidbit. I would like some black pepper, & would add Tabasco or Crystal sauce. Excellent food prepared fresh and rather quickly though it was at lunch time. The tea special of the day was fabulous. The waiter was very helpful in describing what was in the items ordered. We had two different sandwiches, both very good tasting combinations. I had the BLTish and it was great. The side, included, of chocolate chip cookie was fabulous, though there were other choices that also would have been good. I would have liked to stay there or go repeatedly to taste every tea or coffee option they make. However we were there just for a day at the museum across the street. read more

Great mini black & brew. Library closed for remodeling but this is still a popular and crowded cafe. Some outdoor seating also available (taken up by people with big dogs taking up floor space when I was there) Enjoyed the Patriot's (coffee) iced latte. Friend enjoyed a blueberry muffin. I would not go back when the place was that packed in and out again (didn't feel safe walking and moving in the small open spaces) but there are items on the menu I'd love to try. Didn't really like the order at one counter, pick up at another "clog" either. People who are loitering with empty cups and no food need to move along. Homeless hanging along the outside wall was a little intimidating as far as parking and entering. I rate the food/drink tastes higher but ambiance, efficiency, crowd control and safety lagged on my first visit. read more

Caution, the line runs out the door at lunch time, plan on an easy 45 minutes between arriving and leaving during that time. I don't care for how their two locations have different menu items - I always seem to want whats at the other location and the Sandwiches are crazy small for the price -- I now stay away from those. But wow! ...the coffee (especially the special seasonal coffees on the board) and their salads are incredible values! I have to say their salads are the best I've ever had; excellent flavors, fresh ingredients and large portions keep me coming back for the best rabbit food Lakeland has to offer. read more
