I visited the Black & Brew location inside of the Downtown Lakeland Library. Very small, cute and relaxing area. The employees were very kind and the food looked good. I only ordered a cappuccino. I was not a fan of the coffee; very dark and burnt tasting. It's a nice location to work, but I'm not sure about the coffee. Maybe a different location will have different results.

Black & Brew- a Lakeland staple! There's two locations in town- a downtown store and this one connected with the public library sitting right along Lake Morton. It totally gives off the cozy library vibes, and it's a wonderful place to sit, chill and do homework or chat. They have a small covered outdoor area to sit and pretty minimal seating inside. But if you can get a spot it's the best. Probably my favorite place in town to go do homework. Coffee here is almost close to unrivaled. They know how to whip up a specialty drink without overdoing it or being underwhelming. Impressive is the word. I always check the board of seasonal drinks because they create some fun ones. One of my favorite is definitely the turmeric chai latte. If you're hungry, we'll that's good because they do have food too. I'm a sucker for a good avocado or nutella toast (not together obviously, are you crazy?), and they have both here. You can get great coffee, good food, there's wifi (yeah the downtown one doesn't have free wifi), and friendly workers? It's all there ready for you! One tip, I'm not sure if it's only on Sundays but I went there before it opened on that day, and they gave the first person in line a free coffee right when they opened up! Sometimes being the early bird pays off.

Great views, great food, and great coffee! If you go to black and brew definitely try the chicken pesto and caesar salad combo, as well as, a caramel macchiato! The service was relatively quick and the workers were nice and bright ! 10/10 would recommend!

Located on the side of the library. Which by the way is under construction and had no seating inside. I was thirsty and needed a spot for wifi to get some work done on my laptop. The luxury of working remotely when you are on the east coast and three hours ahead of your Seattle office. It's a cute little spot and had a few tables inside but lots of seating outside, but when it's 98 degrees and humid in Florida you want some AC. Parked myself in a corner and got myself a nonalcoholic mojito. It was tasty and refreshing. I didn't order any food because I wasn't hungry, but maybe next time.

Black and brew is my favorite Lakeland resturant. I go there way too often. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The library location is my favorite and my dog, Chewie loves it too (because he knows he's going to get a pup cup).

The Florida Southern location is tucked away on campus, but the atmosphere is peaceful and perfect for a college student. I highly recommend the gingerbread bred frappe! I love siting outside because it's completely covered and shady but not quiet. The patio area is dog friendly and great to catch up with friends as well! It's also is attached to the Lakeland Public library! So if you want to grab a book and a coffee, the patio is great to sit afterwards!

One of the exciting things about the downtown library is the fact that they have Black & Brew attached to it. I love the fact that I can go to the library and then sit at a sophisticated little cafe and have delicious coffee and something to eat. Black & Brew is set up lovely, upscale and sophisticated in appearance but still very comfortable inside, with a lovely outside patio. As soon as I walked in from the library, I was greeted with friendly smiles. All the young people working here were super friendly and appeared to really enjoy their jobs. I ordered a frozen caramel frappe and couldn't resist the Avocado Tartine (open faced sandwich with house made guacamole, olive oil and cilantro). Everything was prepared quickly and delivered to me at my table with a smile with real silverware on real plates. Absolutely delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The bread was from Born & Bread bakery, so it was extra good, the crust chewy but still almost melt in your mouth soft. At the end, I went to bus my dish like one does at a coffee shop, and found out that they do it for you. Nice. I really, really love this and cannot wait to try something else, next time I go to the library!

Our server described the dishes perfectly. I tried the Beef Wellington and loved it. I was not crazy about the mashed potatoes I felt like they lacked flavor but the Beef Wellington was the star. We also had the Cherry Roasted Duck. Again cooked perfectly I just wish it was a larger portion. This is on the pricey side so be ready to splurge a little.

Small European style bistro on the north end of downtown lakeland, there can't be much more than…read moredozen tables. Reservations are essential on busy days. The menu is french inspired but portions are over the top even by american standards. The cordon blue must have used two chicken breasts as it was easily 10" long and at least 3" across. Honestly, it's enough for dinner, lunch, and dinner again the next day and that's coming from a guy. The cooking was well prepared, chicken and fish were cooked to the correct doneness, but there's a few places for improvement. Too many things were overly salty and the chef seems to favor garlic to the point that it impairs the flavors of the rest of the food. I would never have described the brussel sprouts as "pan fried", they were boiled and then hit a pan for like 30 seconds. One of the heavily salted items, between the texture and the salt, they were nearly inedible. One quick side rant - do restaurants not understand that we all have cell phones and can google the retail price of a bottle of wine? I'm not paying $10/glass for a wine that is $11/bottle (and probably not buying $11 wine anyway). Cut your prices in half and you'll actually sell so much more that you'll make up the profit in volume. Win-win. For a french menu, I didn't see a single french wine on the list. Hmmm Desserts sounded great, the only one we had was the creme brulee. The custard was perfect with a strong vanilla flavor and you could see the beans in it. The caramelized sugar was too thick. You should be able to crack it by tapping it with your spoon, not have to stab it to force it to break. Anything more than 1 mm is too thick. Getting all frenchie and metric on you. Still, a respectable place. I'd like to see a wider variety of herbs and spices used and tone down the the salt and garlic. This place has michelin potential, but is held back by Food Prep 101 mistakes.

I have to say it: I think Crave Cookies is way better than Crumbl. Hot take, possibly unpopular…read moreopinion, but very unashamed statement. The cookies here have so much PERSONALITY. Like, they look and taste exactly how they are named, and I have enjoyed every flavor I've tried. They have a rotating menu every few weeks which they announce on their website and socials. I also like that they don't short you on the toppings and goodies that come with each cookie. Like, if Imma get a chocolate oreo cookie, give me allll the oreo crumbs and chocolate coating on it, not just part of the cookie. Make those calories & sugar overload count! One of my favorites is the red velvet cookie when it comes around. I haven't tried many cookie versions of red velvet that are actually good but let me tell you, this one, this is it. It's soft and rich and has little chocolate chips that give it a nice texture. They also make cookies to order- in other words, they don't add toppings or warm them up until you order them. So they're hot and super fresh on the box, it's just little details like that that give these guys the edge over other cookie places in my eyes. Yes, it's still expensive- close to $20 for a 4-pack. But at least they're really good cookies that all burst with flavor and taste how they're advertised. They do have those special flavored drinks too, I think most people call them dirty sodas nowadays? So if you really want the sugary depot you can do drink & dessert here.

I enjoyed the Rock Start cookie very large and filled with pretzel pieces & chocolate chips. It is a take-out cookie store with a counter for ordering and paying and that's it. Two ladies were making cookies and helpful at answer questions they had 9 cookies on display and various signs explaining what was available. Nice they have a GF selection for those who need it. It was a "once and done" for me for several reasons. These cookies are far sweeter than I enjoy, teeth-curling with too much sugar is not my def of yummy. The cost is prohibitive--$5 for a cookie, $7 for a crookie (stuffed croissant type cookie). My favorite cookie places have artisan cookies balanced in sweetness, for $2. This cookie took me four sittings to finish due to its size and sweetness. I'd rather have had 4 different flavored smaller cookies. Their "craft" drinks all sounded equally over sweet. Saw nothing that was less sugary or less calories and I'm not interested in affording the insulin risks. It would be nice to have a no sugar beverage or two for those of us who are more thrifty with sugar use.
