My drivers seat developed a small tear in the perforated area in the center of the seat, which grew to take up most of the seating area, I contacted Brad via email, sent him a picture, VIN # etc and got a quote, Brad recommended replacing the foam as well as the material. Brought my truck in first thing in the AM and had it back by noon. Could not be happier, new foam made the truck like new, had to adjust my mirrors, had no idea the foam had broken down that much. Absolutely fantastic place, and Brad was awesome to work with. I have a BMW 1 series that had peeling leather inserts in the doors and rear panel. BMW uses a spongey kind of glue that causes a sticky mess when it fails and starts disintegrating. I took it to several other places before finding BK. All of them said the door had to be taken completely apart, all of the old glue scraped off, and new glue reapplied. Some wouldn't do the work at all because they said it would be too much work. Some would do it, but the cost of that much work was just too expensive. Brad had a great solution that no one else had been able to figure out for some reason - instead of taking the everything apart and scraping the old foam out of the entire panel, he just cleaned up the edges of the leather and glued them down. It was a truly great solution - it worked perfectly, looks fantastic, and the price was more than reasonable. I sincerely couldn't be happier with the result, and absolutely recommended BK! read more

The leather front bucket seats in my jeep were 18 years old and had over 250k miles on them. The wear on them left them flaking, badly cracked, and stiff in areas. The padding was flattened on the bolsters next to the doors where entry was made on both driver and passenger sides and on the seat itself. Mechanically I keep my vehicle in great shape, but the look and feel of my seats has really bothered me for several years. Checking eBay I found several used sets, but they looked as bad as mine and were priced at $750-900. My mechanic told me to check with Brad at BK. My seats were leather on the seats, backs, and bolsters with cloth and vinyl around the edges and behind the backs. Brad quoted me a price less than $500 over the worn used seats on eBay and said he would do them the same (cloth and vinyl on the edges). He told me he could get them done in a day and a half and that's exactly what he did. A pleasant surprise, he didn't use any cloth sections but did the edges in vinyl. The seats look like they are full leather. He rebuilt the bolsters and replaced the padding throughout the seats. Man, I feel like I'm in a new Cherokee XJ! read more

This is the second time I've tried to post a review for BK Upholstery. Not sure why Yelp seems unable to leave my reviews up, but I do want to try once again, because this shop is such a gem. I took my 11-year-old Mercedes SUV in yesterday to get a fabric panel reattached on the driver's side windshield panel. Mercedes in Marin had already given me an estimate of around $500. Not to be discouraged by that, I found my way up to BK, and met with the owner, who gave me two repair options, one around $200 for both side panels to be reinstalled with new fabric, one for around $60 just to repair the one that was loose. I chose the less-expensive one and he offered to do the work immediately. Not only did he finish way ahead of his projected hour, but he ultimately charged me only $40, $20 less than his original quote. The work was done beautifully. The shop is clean, comfortable, and filled with vintage cars, prints and other interesting memorabilia. The owner is easy to talk with, friendly, down-to-earth, and the entire experience was completely problem-free. I will go back there for any further auto upholstery needs and recommend others do the same! read more

I think auto upholstery shops work on a different time basis than the rest of us. Promised completion days/weeks usually turn into months. That is why BK got my business, instead of my local shop. I went on a Thursday, and discussed the turnaround time with Brad, and he was able to immediately remove my saggy headliner within 1/2 hour, so I could leave. The next Wednesday, after waiting for matching materials, Brad called to have me return, where the headliner was installed much better than factory, and within 1/2 hour. I couldn't believe how painless this was, even after a 45 mile drive. Excellent work as well, I love my new headliner. Wasn't cheap, but well worth it considering the convenience.
