Their website touts "20+ years in the pool business" and custom pool design, build, remodel, and repair services in Paso Robles, Templeton, Atascadero, and the Central Coast. However, my experience was extremely negative and serves as a serious warning to other homeowners considering hiring this contractor. What Happened in My Case Before hiring him, my loan company refused financing because he was on a contractor blacklist due to active lawsuits -- a red flag I later confirmed after issues began. I was given an alternative financing method and, trusting his explanation, entered a contract for a full pool build. Payments were tied to construction milestones because I had no traditional pool loan oversight. During the build, many construction errors occurred, clearly due to poor supervision and bad direction from Mark. Multiple portions of the build are out of building code, which means they must be demolished and redone before final inspection can pass. He was absent during most of the build, showing up mainly when money was due. He promised to install a saltwater system but claimed it should wait until water chemistry was balanced -- then changed his number and disappeared. If anything is not right, I as the homeowner have to ask why (why is the water cloudy?) and the response is (shrugs shoulders) call the office and have the send a repair person out to investigate. I've been paying this company to come weekly (even in the dead of Winter when no one is using the pool) because I was sold on "we need be there weekly to stay on top of any issues." That is far from what has been happening -- homeowner should not have troubleshoot water quality issues. The chlorine levels were dangerously high (pool company said DO NOT GO INTO THE POOL) and the salt was too high which I knew because he dumped too much salt into the pool. It had already been diluted by rain water which was pumped out and was still too high. I encourage all customers who are reading that are being serviced by Gold Coast Pool "Pro's" ..sic.. to get a sample of their to Leslie's pool store and get a free test. I had also suspected that Casey was Justin's gf. She wrote a 5-star review in Google and then wrote a 5-star review in Yelp after my 1-star review. Here's her 5-star review of her bf's company: "Casey Gomez 2 reviews 6 months ago Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value I use his services for my vacation homes. I would not recommend Justin and I agree with the other one star review posted. In my opinion Justin does not have enough knowledge of hot tubs but charges more than any other business I have looked into. We have parted ways after I questioned his recurrent repeated charges. Ex: $75 to clean our filter which entails spraying the filter and letting it dry. This in addition to the $100.00 monthly he charges. The spa frog he uses he charges $55.00 for one yet you can buy these on amazon for a pack of 4 for $51.00-$75.00. Justin does not inform you of charges before he performs what he calls "extra services," rather we just receive a charge and if you don't like it, he tells you to find someone else. There is no logical justification for his services and charges, its pretty much "its that much because I say it is." As I read the other negative review it seems as if I have had the exact same experience. A pattern indeed. Hot tub constantly dirty and foggy, had to specifically ask for him to clean the grime and build up on the hot tub yet we are being charged as if we have the cleanest, most high maintenance hot tub around. The final straw for him was me questioning his prices via text. He called me very angrily and told me I would need to find another technician and that prices are his prices. In my opinion I have been nickled and dimed by this man who does not have the skill he charges so much for. Would not recommend. Also take note that every time someone posts a 1 star review, the same day someone else posts a 5 star review lol. Nice to have people who have your back I guess.
