    No carts. Always empty.
    Michael E.

We were so excited when BJ's announced that this club was opening, and we were especially happy to have another option for discounted gas. Sadly, that enthusiasm was misplaced. Everything about this location has proved to be a disappointment. The first thing you'll notice when shopping here is that shopping carts litter the parking lot and the cart corrals are filled beyond their capacity, yet no employees are ever seen to be collecting them. When you get inside, you'll discover if you hadn't grabbed one of the carts from the parking lot, that was a mistake, because there are none to be found inside the store. The area at the entrance where the carts are supposed to be is always empty. In the dozen or so times we've shopped here this has always been the case. Most recently, when we visited this location to put in gas, their gas station was closed. It was 1pm, there was no sign mentioning the closure, and no employees to be seen anywhere. We were understandably annoyed. After all, we were paying for a membership, and the gas station was a part of that. So, we called the store for an explanation and we were told that sometimes they only have a single employee working and if they go for lunch or need a break the gas station will just randomly close. What kind of a way is that to run a business? The manager was apologetic, but said she was powerless to change things, and told us that this location has been through five previous managers since the store's opening, and that BJ's corporate had no interest in hearing about problems. I believe that. Unfortunately, BJ's won't refund memberships. I'd cancel mine if I could. I certainly won't be renewing it.

My experience today was my last at this supermarket. Their deli workers were incompetent and rude…read more They not only got the price for my first order wrong, they told me to "Calm down" when I corrected them. Instead of apologizing for the error, they attack the customer. Who does this? Considering their high prices and lack of choices, you'd think customer service would be paramount. Instead, they overcharge and insult you to boot. I'd suggest never going there. Try the ACME or Whole Foods instead. The prices are lower and the quality is comparable. Kings doesn't live up to the name. You're not treated like one, but rather like a peasant.

I just want to share my experience having had some Thanksgiving dishes "catered" yesterday…read more First of all, everything comes "chilled" (refrigerated or frozen? when was it made? No idea). This is stated in a note at the bottom of the catering tab. At no point in the description of any food or in the process of placing the order is anything stated about the food not arriving hot and needing to be cooked . Should I have read the website more carefully? Should I have called to ask questions? Maybe. But catering is expected to be cooked fresh and hot imo and if that's not the case it should be clearly and boldly stated at every step of the ordering process. Now I was charged $25 for a delivery fee for a delivery that was taken 1 mile down the road. I expected Kings to make the delivery but it was actually handed off to DoorDash. Now, I order from DoorDash all the time and it would not cost me $25 for that delivery so where did the money go? Also, I have my own DoorDash account and a subscription that allows me not to pay delivery fees. If my food was coming through DoorDash, then let me use MY account and save on the delivery fee! It just doesn't make any sense. The food came cold as stated, which was unexpected and annoying. In addition, two side dishes were sent in plastic containers that were not oven safe. So you have to cook it AND you need pans to cook it in. The turkey came in a very cheap tinfoil pan that was oven safe but it had a hole in the bottom, which leaked all the juices. At first I thought they spilled out from the top, but after placing the turkey in the oven with stock (which I needed to have and fortunately did) it started dripping from the bottom, causing my oven to smoke. Overall, the lack of transparency in this transaction was very disappointing and I feel ripped off, especially concerning the delivery. The food, for what it's worth was good, after I took care of preparing it myself.

It's very convenient to have right down the street, no need to pop onto a highway. Some of the reviews say the prices are higher, and that may be true. Lucky Farmers Market is a non-descript bodega perched in a four deep mini-mall on Bloomfield Ave. in Verona (co-occupied by Subway and double Krauszers). Sounds awesome, right? Actually, it is. Inside is where you actually get lucky.* Fresh fruit and vegetables in droves for way less than your not-so-supermarket. From gargantuan Asian pears to three kinds of cucumbers to berries of all kinds, Lucky will not let you down on the fruit and vegetable end. This is not a full market so don't get all, "That dude said this place had everything," because they don't have everything. They just have good produce, a smattering of market items (good, healthy options) and THIS IS WHERE YOU MUST PAY ATTENTION - a full-time sushi chef that churns out the best sushi around, restaurant or not. Yes, a small bodega will give you excellent sushi in a plastic container and you won't have to overpay for it. If you take anything from this, just get the Tuna/Salmon sandwich sushi and thank me later. Lucky is my go-to spot for the items I rely on - fruit, vegetables and sushi. I do the bulk of my shopping at a regular, large and fat market, but I get all my fruit and vegetables here and I get dinner here 2x a week, every week. Everyone who runs this place and works here is super friendly and a pleasure to see every day. In a pinch, you can get flowers here which actually last a while too. What else is there to say? If you don't ever have a reason to go to Lucky Farmers Market, no one will care (not even your Mom), but if you do have a chance to swing by with fruits, vegetables, sushi or something interesting in mind you just might have found your spot. ____________________ *Well, you might not get lucky if you are thinking something other than groceries or sushi, but I get Lucky almost every day.
