Nonetheless, I was shopping around for a good tax professional and came across Tax Pro Plus. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing from the beginning. I called several times trying to get some information and discuss my tax situation, but I was repeatedly placed on hold and, on some occasions, the call was simply disconnected. After finally getting through to someone, I was told that I needed to file an extension. What concerned me was that this was in early February, and I was confused as to why an extension was already being recommended at that point without first taking the time to properly understand my situation. As someone who was actively looking for a reliable tax professional, I expected better communication, professionalism, and customer service. Instead, I felt like I was being rushed through the process and that my questions and concerns weren't being taken seriously. Filing taxes is something people need to feel confident about, and the first impression matters. Unfortunately, my experience with Tax Pro Plus did not give me that confidence. The communication was poor, the process felt disorganized, and I never felt like I was receiving the level of attention or explanation I expected from a professional tax service. I ultimately decided to continue looking elsewhere for a tax professional who is more responsive, communicative, and willing to take the time to properly explain the process and answer questions. I recommend calling and speaking to the EA or CPA or whomever you are planning to use to get an idea of how they can help you with your tax scenario. I made an appointment, spoke to Mady briefly, and then returned a week later to pick up my tax return. My first impression was that Debbie and Mady are both laid back people with good senses of humor and seem to approach their clients and work with friendliness and respect. Debbie who makes the appointments and looks like she helps in many ways, was very nice and managed all the paperwork I emailed. Mady is personable and knowledgeable and I was very happy that he went over my entire tax return with me and answered all my questions. The office has a few different sections so don't be afraid to ask for privacy if you feel more comfortable discussing your taxes (without anyone else in the room waiting). They happily accommodated my request. I got money back and in legit, legal ways. Mady does not seem to cut corners, while still making sure I got all the breaks and benefits I could. Their office also seems organized - important for a tax office. They also always answered the phone when I called. Street parking is easy in the area. Call and make an appointment first. They take checks (or Visa/Mastercard with a $5 service fee). I was charged $250 which I think was reasonable. I was happy with how my return was handled and will definitely be back next year.
