Nasty. Unfriendly to small children. Never actually got to look at glasses. Oh well.

Went to my new eye doc, Dr. Davison at YourVision Resource. I'm supposed to get a medical diabetes…read moreeye exam. I'm also supposed to get a free pair of frames with this appt through my (excellent) insurance. I get there at 1:00 (my appt is 1:15) and I am the ONLY patient there. One old guy was there, but I'm sure he was waiting for his wife. I get brought inside quickly and the tech does a few prelim things (she's awesome, and the receptionish was awesome; both were very friendly). I waited a bit, and the wet-blanket doc comes in. He does a few things. He barely says a word, never cracks a smile, barely even looks at me when I say anything. He puts drops in my eyes to dilate my pupils. This was about 1:30. The tech comes back by 1:50, and my pupils are ready to go. "The doctor will be in in a few mins.," she says. At 2:15 I pop out into the hall. "He had an emergency," the same tech says. "He'll be in very soon." What emergency? As far as I'm concerned, unless someone's eyeball is hanging by a thread, I'm just as important as any other patient. Meanwhile, I've been hearing him talking (and laughing!) with other patients as he flits in and out of rooms. I peek into the hall. No sign of him or anyone. I wait again. And I'm getting angrier and angrier ... and in all this time I'm actually meditating to keep calm! At 2:30, after being there for an hour and a half and having basically nothing done -- and knowing the exam and being fitted for glasses will take *at least* another hour, I grab my purse and leave. I pass the tech in the hall; she says nothing. I pass the receptionist; she says nothing. My eyes are still fully dilated, but luckily I brought my mother to drive me. (Poor Mom's waiting all this time too!) I call my ins. co. to make sure I can schedule with another eye doc (I can) and to lodge a complaint. It's almost 6:00 and I'm still waiting for a call: "What happened? We're SOOOO sorry!" Yeah, right. They probably think I'm still in there waiting.
