I took my leaf blowers in for repair. It would not start. After 3 days, I was advised it was repaired. Charge was just shy of $100. Repair consisted of replacing the spark plug and air filter. Took it home, started it once, used briefly. Tried to use it a second time- would not start. Took it back for second repair. Operator was not embarrassed about the problem and would not commit to a time for second attempt at repair. I had expected I might be given priority since the first attempt at repair had not been successful. After 2 days, I called to enquire about the status of repair and was advised nothing had been done yet. I then enquired when I might expect it to be done and could not get any commitment from the operator. I sensed an ambivalence and this was not the first time at this business. I retrieved the blower and have taken it to another service centre. read more

He offers a free pick-up/drop-off service for bike & lawn mower tube ups as well. Wait times (days to a week) depends upon the demand but we've always been super happy with his service. I brought my child's used bike in because the rear tire wasn't spinning properly. I spoke to the owner at the store and he said it looks like a tune-up would fix the issue. I then asked him and was clear that if the issue ends up requiring more than a cost of a tune-up to call me since the second-hand CCM bike was so cheap it may not be fixing. I got a call that the bike was ready for pick up a few days later and when I arrived they said it was $140 for new parts and wheel. I asked them why no one called me for authorization before proceeded in repairing the bike and the counter woman just stared at me not saying a word. I asked what are my options and she said he can take the new parts/wheel off, but I would have to pay for the labour!! They make no effort to correct their mistake and wanted me to pay for the work and parts I never authorized. I had to leave my kid's bike there. Now my kid has no bike. It was not right - they have zero customer service. read more

REALLY wish I had checked other reviews prior to taking my business to BJ's Fix-It Shop (Yellow Pages 1.4/5; Canpages 1.5/5; Homestars 2.3/10). Took my pressure washer into BJ's for repair. After about a week I get a call that it's done and ready to go. I run down and pick it up and about a week later go to use it - and it doesn't work. In fact, it has the exact same problem that I took it in for. So, I load it up and take it back. When I get there and I explain to Brian that the pressure washer still doesn't work, he immediately becomes confrontational. He rolls it outside starts the engine and says, "what do you mean it doesn't work". I explained to him that the problem occurs when you hook the water up to the machine. He then says (with as much indignation as he can muster), "well you have a pump problem". I said that I really didn't care what the problem was, I needed it fixed. He then tells me (again as ignorantly as he can) that "he doesn't fix pumps" and I would have to "take it across the street" and he points to Bishop Pump. I then asked him why he charged me $100 if he couldn't fix it, and he says "it needed a carburetor cleaning". So I then had to take it over to Bishop to get the actual repair done (and they did an awesome job by the way). I phoned BJ's when I got the fixed pressure washer from Bishop and asked him for my money back. He immediately gets argumentative and then hangs the phone up on me. From reading other reviews it seams like that's his go-to move. Bottom line - I could have not fixed my pressure washer myself for free. Apparently when Brian can't fix something he just "cleans the carburetor" so he can bill you $100 and kick you out the door. From reading the other reviews this is also a reoccurring theme. Don't waste your time or money. read more

Still awaiting for a call from Brian so i can return the riding lawnmower so he can repair the mower correctly. Sent a registered letter to him July 9/19 allowing hm time to repair or legal proceedings to take place. If he has serviced the area for over 30 years is unbellevable. My legal advice states it would be in his best interest to resolve this situation or it could cost him more for expenses than anticipating. read more

I dropped my vacuum off on November 8th. I phoned Brian about a week later and asked how my vacuum was coming along. He hadn't even looked at it. Said he would look at it the next day. I waited another week and a half and called him again. He said he thought it was a diode or something and that he had to order it. It would take a week or two. I waited about 3 weeks and called him. He rather rudely told me that he would call me when it was ready. I told him that I needed my vacuum. He said "yeah, you and about 5 others". What kind of customer service is that?? I waited about another week and then just went and picked up my vacuum. It was there almost 7 weeks!! Not our first bad experience with Brian, either. It will be our last, though. Take my advice and go to someone in Edmonton. read more

I took my Norco bike for tune up. I thought tune up includes degreasing and cleaning the chain,cassette, sprockets that whole area before lubing. Well i picked up my bike and after trying it the chain was making some noises. After checking to see why, found gunk upon gunk like they BJ fix it just poured lube on a dirty chain. I had to take a degreaser and flathead screwdriver to remove the gunk. After doing my own degreasing and cleaning gunk and lubing-which i had paid $60 to get done in a shop- My bike was shifting and turning smoothly. I will not go back. read more

I brought my vacuum cleaner in for repair estimate. I was charged $60 for a simple repair and was not phoned to approve first. He took apart the hose and gave me back a bag of parts. He didn't put the hose back together. And the replacement part was so expensive I chose not to get it. But still had to pay for a repair I didn't authorize. read more

BJ's Fix it, is awesome! If you are thinking of tossing that item out, as its not working, take it to Brian Im sure he can fix it. I had a 20 year old mix master, and a 8 year old snowman that were no longer working. I was told by Sunbeam and Home Depot to toss them out, done. Of course I thought if Brian can't fix it then I will toss it out. Brian repaired both, and they are still in full operation today!!! Highly recommend BJS Fix it!!!! read more
