BJ Roasters is hugely popular with the locals. I'm not really sure why. Maybe they were the popular kids in high school and have lots of friends. Who knows? I have a 3-strikes policy towards most places. I know how hard it is for small businesses and really like to give them the benefit of the doubt when I can, but BJ's struck out with me 3 times. Strike 1: On my first visit, it was about 2 hours before posted closing time and they didn't have any chicken left. If you're a place that specializes in chicken and you run out, you should close for the day. Strike 2: My next visit, I ordered some of their ever popular wings. I got served overcooked, dry, leathery, desiccated things that I suppose were chicken parts at one time. Not even any sauce. Even the fries were cooked in a similar fashion. It was hard to tell the two foods apart. Strike 3: Ordered chicken. They had some in stock. I could see my chicken there in the warmer, beckoning me with the siren song of its golden deliciousness. Had to wait 20-30 minutes while another order via phone (or twelve) was filled. Must've been their high school pals. When I finally got the chicken and sat down in their "dining room", it was merely average. Sorry BJ's. You're out as far as I'm concerned. Life's too short for mediocre of just plain disappointing meals. Like I said, I love to support my local businesses. Tried to place and order via Grubhub and called to verify order . People were absolutely rude then order got delayed 1hr then called back to cancel order all within 9mins. A lady answer then phone like she was just in a argument and began to tell me that I can't call the restaurant, and that my food was already being made. BJ's Roasters is okay in a pinch. For a place that specializes in roasted chicken, they don't really do anything special with it. The roasted chickens they sell at Shoprite and Pathmark are just as good, if not better. BJ's dining room is very... ahem... understated (think pizza joint.) I was very disappointed with the sides as well. I think BJ's is one of those places that you either like or you don't. This place just didn't do it for me. Just moved into town and tried these wings and loved them.. went to place my own order not once but twice and had the WORST experience with the lady on the phone and at the counter. So I've been to BJs roosters before and from what I remember a year ago it was great. I had the roast chicken with a couple sides and it wasn't that bad. Pretty good. The price was fair too. Positive in that aspect. But as far as the service, though they're nice people they stink at customer service. For instance I went in today and they clearly saw me because I was the only one at the counter standing like a dummy for what felt like 20 minutes. I guess it was my fault for waiting that long. They didn't even bother to take my order let alone acknowledge me. I guess they were off today. So not cool. I'm in the customer service business and I know that the product is not always 100% the reason you go somewhere but for the customer service or the experience. And they don't have either of them. I can get the product somewhere else. Overall horrible experience and I won't be going there again. read more

I went into BJ's to try their wings. The first thing I noticed when I got my order was that the lady who served it was pretty rude. I had asked her why the wings only came with one small container of sauce. A simple question that anyone would ask if they order 50 wings but only received enough sauce for like 20-30 wings. The serving lady rolled her eyes as if she has repeated this answer 12 times that day and told me that it said on the menu that it only came with one sauce. I understand she probably explains this a lot, but she could have been a lot nicer about it. It was an honest question and if I didn't know the answer I wouldn't have asked. Finally, the wings were not tasty at all. The seasoning just ruined the wings and the skin felt like crunchy pork rinds and the chicken was dry and tasteless. Maybe it was because I wasn't too hungry for wings but I can imagine that they wouldn't have tasted any better if I was. To put it bluntly, my experience sucked and I most likely won't be going back.
