Bella went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable! She exhibited incredible attention to detail and after one look at my inspo pic went straight to work and nailed it! She had her work cut out for her (I have long thick hair) but she worked efficiently and was so kind throughout the whole process. I have NEVER written a negative review in my life but my experience BJs Salon with my teenage daughter was so un-fair and wrong I feel the need to share it. This business is way to expensive, there are much cheaper and better quality salons to go to in Springfield. DO NOT buy the hype. They rip their customers off, especially the most vulnerable senior citizens. The min you walk through the doors you might as well burn a few hundred dollars. Our experience was very negative and we ended up losing over $300 my teenage daughter had saved by babysitting. She has frizzy hair and paid for what they told her was a straightening procedure. It did not work, it was not left in for the required time and my daughter left the salon (losing $300) of her own money with no change to her hair. Initially, it was late and we left, I tipped. I was too shy to point it out. The next day my daughter expressed her sadness over "wasting all her money." For the 1st time in my life I contacted a business to complain. I shy away from that. However, this was my awkward, acne prown teenage daughter's money so we went in and talked to the manager. They clearly saw her hair was curly, frizzy and the 300$ straightening TX did not work. Yet, they made us come in again (during a very busy school week) so "test" her hair. They saw it in its true state (frizzy, waves) and said that they needed to wash it to prove the TX had taken. Basically they scammed us. The stylist washed her hair, put in a temporary straighting product, blow dried it, and then said that this TX doesnt make your hair more straight, she needs to blow dry it (bf they said it would be straight air dried) and now they said that it needed $50 heat protectant and she has to blowdry it. My daughter is devasted. Out $300 of babysitting money and the staff was out right rude. $300 is nothing for a large corporation like BJS but a lot to a 15 year old girl. They were very rude and we were nothing but polite. We left quietly despite her hair still looking the same. I did not purchase their $50 product and hope to reimbuse my daughter soon. We lost money and I didn't fight it bc I didn't want to cause a scene. They were wrong though. The BJS on 6th street is terrible, and they truly don't care about retaining customers. I've probably spent 1,000$ on hair highlights, cuts, products over the years but after seeing them rip off a kid? Who they also charged $70 for a straight haircut you could get for $PL12 at Sports Clips. NO morals, no class, no ethics. PLEASE tell others their are better options such as: Trends Terra Bella Mekei The moment you walk in the door you are ripped off. Never will I do business with them. Deplorable. Appt scheduled for 7/18 was cancelled BY BJG. Rescheduled for the following Friday when i had a work emergency so I cancelled and got charged $50 for cancelling. When I called they said "you've cancelled 3 times". First time i paid the $50 charge because it was my fault. 2nd time a tornado struck the area and we were all without power. Not my fault. 3rd time should have been a wash since they cancelled on me and had to reschedule. Wouldn't even consider the circumstances. Willow and Birch here I come. read more

Came here a few days ago to get some color done. I was put with Celina and we talked about what I wanted and kinda what the outcome would be. Needless to say I absolutely love what she did, the color turned out beautiful and she gave a great scalp massage during the washing process. I don't feel she added any service that wasn't necessary. She trimmed my hair very well I love the length, I asked for someone who was great with color and they gave me that! SO happy I got Celina, if you go there ask for Celina she is amazing! This place deserves a zero star rating. Staff did not listen. I showed pictures of what I wanted. Staff said it could be done. Initially it looked nice and then was told to come back for toner. Toner was put on and my hair had a green look to it and was a blended color of browns, sure as hell a far cry from blonde. Would not recommend this salon at all. read more

Called yesterday to make an appointment for a partial body massage by Dani. Was told by Mya that the cost was going to be $66. After my massage today, I checked out and the cost was $86. Explained that I was told it was going to $66. Was told that $66 was a starting price and it depends on who you see. If Mya knew I was seeing Dani, then she should have known to quote me the correct price for this service. BJ'S owes me an apology and at least a $20 refund. read more

Bre D. always does a fantastic job with my hair and Astrid is THE BEST with my eyebrows. They both listen to what I want, and always deliver exactly what I ask for. The front desk also does an amazing job. I feel like I'm constantly changing times and dates for appointments and they never get annoyed with me (at least they don't show it!) and are very accommodating. read more

I go to BJ for a full-removal wax. And I extremely recommend seeing Beckah. Last visit, I saw Ashley and it was the worst experience I had ever. Her pulls were hesitant, making the experience more painful and stressful. She was also very messy with the wax. She got some on my dress and when I got home, there was large chunks of blue wax still on me. It was painful pulling it off myself. I was very disappointed with the visit. Whatever you do, do not see Ashley when you want a wax! read more

I was recently in Springfield a short trip and desperately needed my hair colored. I have been going to the same person in KC for several years, so I was extremely nervous about trying someone new. I'm so glad I took the risk because I found Karen Pyle who was amazing! She really knew what she was doing and colored my hair perfectly which is hard because I have dark hair so it can turn brassy very easily. The staff was great and the place was really nice inside. I've experienced different services at BJ Grand and everyone I've had a appointment with has been very professional and courteous. I've recently been seeing Liza at the 3055 Professional Drive location and can definitely say she is one of my favorite stylists I have ever had cut and style my hair. I have wavy to curly hair and it is very difficult to feel comfortable and happy with a stylist and the end results of a haircut but Liza styles my hair exactly how I have always wanted it to be cut and I am always happy with the end result. read more

I came here again--this time just for a Shellac manicure--and Carmita did an excellent job once again. I scheduled two other appointments for my friends, and the techs were very accommodating by letting us sit together so we could chat. All of us loved our techs, and one of my friends made an appointment two days later for a pedicure. I mentioned the receptionists last time, and I'll mention them again. This is a fabulous place for a facial and for hair care. Ashly did a wonderful job on my facial. She was professional and knowledgeable, and I left her feeling great. My friend had her hair cut and colored; it turned out well too. The facials and hair deserve 5 stars. However, the massage was terrible; it gets a zero. It wasn't actually a massage but more of a rubbing. The girl that gave the massage had almost 0 upper body strength. She physically just couldn't do it well. I enjoyed the aroma therapy aspect of it though. They use scented massage oil; you get to pick your own scent. Skip the massage here--you're better off going to the mall and getting one from the people who do chair massages. Seriously. read more

WORST PLACE EVER. I'm a male with longer hair and was juts looking for a clean up. I was growing it out but wanted the dead ends cut off.I made an appointment with their master stylist Jill Allen. She was HORRIBLE ! I could tell she had no idea what she was doing while she was butchering my hair.The outcome was TERRIBLE, I could not help but look into the mirror and scream inside. She gave me a WOMENS BOB CUT, and not a good one either! On top of it,this horrible service cost me $41 plus tip. Total rip off!!!! She was terrible and got paid for full service. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE!!!! She have no idea what they are doing. I would have appreciated it much more if she would have told me she didn't know how to cut men's hair in the beginning. After a long search for a great hair stylist in Springfield, IL that is not going to pry into my personal life while at the mercy of their scissors, I found Courtney. Courtney was recommended to me by a friend, whose hair is always fantastic. She raved about how much she loved her stylist. After my experience with Courtney, I will never go to anyone else. She is the only person I let do whatever they want to my hair. She has a great sincere personality, and her positive energy makes the length of time to do a color and style easy and smooth. She never gossips , she does not dig for gossip, and she is a lot of fun. Courtney is a true artist and a true professional. She charges fair market rates for the area. read more

I give BJs only two stars for several reasons, but mainly because they are NOT CONSISTENT. You can on some days get a nice receptionist but more often than not you get young, immature girls who lack any customer service savvy. They think asking "how was everything" is all that is required. I'd tell them to read a book, but most of them don't look they read, and I'm all out of crayons and sock puppets, so........ Additionally, I am offended at having them ask so that everyone else in ear shot of the front desk can hear, "do you need an envelope for tip?" Seriously? How rude. The two BJs are VERY different in personality. BJs on Professional Drive is just snooty. BJs on Robbins can offer you some nice folks and others who are 'over nice" as in trying to win your business and then there are others that are aloof and/or weird. Best facial/waxing can be given by Andrea. Best nails by Summer and/or Kathy K. BJs claims to be like high prices Chicago SPAs but I'm wondering if any of them have ever been to a high priced Chicago Salon/SPA because they are NOT anything like those Salons. Those SPAs have freshly flavored waters, fruit, FRESH coffee. They have equipment that is not ripped or broken. They give a neck rub with a hair cut. Their pedicures include a warmed neck wrap or a warmed hand wrap. Their pedis are not any better than what you might get at one of the chop shops in the area. All in all BJs is just an average hair salon trying to purport itself as something more. read more
