I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding my recent experience at your clinic…read more Prior to my appointment, I sent multiple emails containing extensive medical records, specialist reports, and a detailed summary of my dog's condition. I spent considerable time gathering and organizing this information so that the veterinary team would have a clear understanding of the case before the visit. On the day of the appointment, I took time off work and drove approximately one hour to your clinic. Upon entering the examination room, the technician asked what was wrong with my dog. Given the volume of records and summaries that had been submitted in advance, I asked whether those materials had been reviewed. The technician informed me that they had not. I then requested that the records be reviewed before proceeding, as they contained extensive information from specialists and would provide important context for the appointment. A few minutes later, another staff member entered the room and informed me that I had been rude to the assistant and that the clinic would not be seeing my dog. I was shocked by this decision. At no point did I raise my voice, use inappropriate language, or behave in a disrespectful manner. I simply asked whether the records I had submitted had been reviewed and requested that they be considered before the appointment continued. As a result of this decision, I lost a day of work, spent significant time traveling to your clinic, and was denied care after making every effort to provide your staff with the information necessary to prepare for the appointment. This incident was particularly disappointing because it follows a previous experience at your clinic that left me concerned about communication, attention to detail, and the overall quality of the client experience. Unfortunately, this latest interaction has completely eliminated my confidence in your practice I believe clients should be able to respectfully ask whether medical records have been reviewed without fear of having their appointment terminated.

You can improve on the attitude of that nasty doctor I met with! He was rude and had a passive demeanor, i want d to smack the smirk off his face, so his attitude needs adjusting. I was sent there by my vet because my Yorkie had a couple little bumps on her back BUT no itching and her regular vet gave her an allergy shot I came home with a dog that is uncontrollably itching. We are going on a month and a half now I have done everything oatmeal bath chamomile bath baths. I brought them to this establishment $300 just for a consultation for him to tell me that he thinks I need to put her on Next guard and I had just administered her topical medication. I didn't buy the nexguard from them. I ended up buying it from chewys because I refuse to give this establishment any more of my money. She's 2 weeks since with Nex guard and still itching like crazy. Save your money and go somewhere else. We're actually people are educated not just sitting there for the $300 consultation for a 10 minute visit and absolute waste of information. Complete morons. And trust me I know EVERYBODY IN LA!! I have warned all my valley dog parent friends! I think there is a massive problem with our entire medical system, there ar doctors they aren't really trained the way that they are in another countries, why we do things that Europeans wouldn't or people in Japan wouldn't, they're reasons for that. It's a money making business as long as that doctor pushes that medication that company gives him a commission he up charges. I've worked for a doctor before I know exactly how this works but at some point, you've got people that are suffering and they're spending tons of money for a doctors opinion, all I'm saying is I want to see the certificate!

I explained to her assistant, Aisha, that would be unaffordable. I then mentioned to Aisha that I was a low-income disabled senior citizen with ESA animals, all of which I could prove. Aisha clearly stated that I qualified for a 15% discount for me being a senior citizen. That 15% was lower than other clinics offer, but I accepted it. However, Aisha then came back into the examining room and said that her offer was only good for one time, and just the $235 doctor visit, nothing else. That was unacceptable, especially since Aisha had just guaranteed otherwise. So, I paid for the doctor visit and left. I then emailed Chris, the office manager, explaining everything. Chris responded with a patronizing email, basically stating that if I didn't like I could go somewhere else. I then mailed Animal Dermatology Headquarters in Newport Beach, explaining everything. They just ignored me. These are greedy, nasty, disrespectful people who feel that they have the corner of the market in animal dermatology in the Southern California area. They therefore try to squeeze every dollar for their patients. I suggest staying away from all of their locations and trying to find other doctors who specialize in this field and will hopefully be more reasonable and understanding to their client's needs.

Yelp's reviews have mostly been helpful, until this time. My cat's blood test came back with…read moreextremely low cell count. His vet arranged for him to go to E.R. immediately. He received necessary procedures including blood transfusion to stabilize his condition. I did not want to leave him at ER for more tests and observations because I have never had any pets survived ER stays. We did receive blood transfusion and medications which seemed to be working and were told that he needed medical attention in order to survive. Since his regular vet was helpless, I decided to look into alternatives. I found this place on Yelp with raving reviews, and like most pet owners in desperate situations, I decided to give it a try. I first spoke with I believe her name was Lyric. She was very charming and well spoken, and made an appointment immediately. I also recieved a call from Yael after I emailed over my cat's medical records and was told that she thinks my cat simply had urinary track infection and she can help. During our visit, Yael and Lyric worked together and performed a basic exam, then I was told that we need a biofeedback scan which will tell us exactly what's going on. This " procedure " consist of sticking two wet pads somewhere on the underside of my cat, and the wires connected the wet pads to a laptop which supposedly would feed all the information to a program. I thought that seemed overly simple, but I was in a state of panic, I chose to believe it's some advanced science that I didn't understand. I was told that they will rush the result but it will be later that evening or next day. Then Yael proceeded to prescribe a list of remedies which is mostly supplements including a jar of homemade yogurt. The visit, including all the remedies I was told were necessary, came to just under $700. They also only accept cash or Zelle payments, no credit cards. The instruction I was given was to stop the medicationd from ER immediately and only take what was prescribed by Yael, and I did. At home, shortly after I gave my cat what Yael prescribed, he started vomiting violently and was visibly weaker. I call and told Yael what was happening and was met with loud, non-stop yelling, telling me that her remedies were right and I must follow her instructions. The biofeedback report showed pages of colorful breakdown and included readings of "pepsine secretion coefficient" and "small intestine peristalsis function" values, plus "protien metabolism value", "liver fat content value", plus kidney, lung function analysis, even blood circulation system analysis, etc. This program of theirs can read all these from two wet pad sticked to the skin of my cat? I ultimately decided to consult with a licensed vet, and luckily I found Dr. Sharp from a referral, and my cat's conditions improved without complications within days at a quarter of the cost. He is healthy and happy today. As pet parents, we are vulnerable to be taken advantage of when our pets become critically ill. I hope my experience can be helpful to anyone in similar situation and can make proper decisions for both your pets and you.

I had a very distressing experience with this eye clinic and feel compelled to share it…read more My dog Zip was prescribed prednisone along with diclofenac. I specifically raised concerns about this combination, as my partner is a physician and was worried about the risks of using these medications together long term. Despite this, the treatment was continued. Shortly after, my dog developed a painful corneal ulcer -- something that can be exacerbated by steroid use. Watching her in discomfort was heartbreaking. When I called the clinic asking to bring her in the same day due to this urgent complication, I was told I would need to pay a $500 emergency exam fee -- just to be seen, not including any treatment. Given that this issue arose after their prescribed treatment, I found this response incredibly insensitive and lacking in accountability. At a time when a pet owner is scared and their animal is in pain, compassion and clinical judgment matter. Instead, I felt dismissed and taken advantage of. Update: After the events described above, my dog's condition continued to deteriorate. Her eye ultimately ruptured, and she endured severe pain in her final days. Despite efforts to manage the complication, she passed shortly thereafter. This has been devastating, and it is especially difficult knowing that concerns about the treatment approach were raised early on. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this clinic.

If you are a resident of Sherman Oaks and are a critical thinker, think twice about this local veterinarian. It came highly recommended by a neighbor. I had high hopes and wanted to support this female centric place, however, as a dog mom I would never recommend it due to poor communication, lack of accountability and customer service and a defensive/ hostile stance when questioned. I went back for a recheck of my dog's allergies and skin growths. Note that there are two problems I was seen for initially and the follow up was to include both. This was not the case. I had to remind Dr. Cortez to remeasure my dog's growths. Not all of the growths were measured and there were no recommendations communicated for care. She was focused on his allergies, which had not resolved. I received VERBAL directions for 4 DIFFERENT TASKS and was told she would email me. In the days that followed I called the office and asked for my summary and instructions. I' was told they would be emailed. This happened three times. Nothing was emailed. I was not informed that Dr. Cortez was sick until I was also being instructed not to come back in the email shown below. It's sad that Southpaw won't take any accountability for the excessive wait, poor communication and lacking customer service. I think customer service is a thing of the past, but it's a quality that's important to me. There was no apology or anything that even approached an apology. If you value the ability to ask questions and discuss issues about your fur baby as they arise then this is not your veterinarian either.
