Saw this place on IG so decided to place a pickup order since I'm always on the hunt for yummy vegan pizza. I was excited to learn they partner with The Butcher's Son for vegan mozzarella and meats. I've been a big fan of The Butcher's Son food for a while, and I love their mozzarella sticks, even though I usually don't like vegan cheese. I went with a medium 1/2 and 1/2 pizza: Vegan Meatzza and Vegan Buffalo Chicken. I also tried the Vegan Cannoli. The pizza was hot and ready when I arrived, and they sealed it with a 100% vegan sticker, which I thought was a nice touch. I really enjoyed both flavors! It's tough to pick a favorite between the two, but the pepperoni on the meatzza was delicious, and the buffalo and ranch combo on the buffalo chicken was tasty. Surprisingly, my favorite was the cannoli. Even though I usually prefer savory over sweet, the cannoli was amazing. I loved every bite, though I think adding chocolate chips to the filling would have made it even better. Overall, it was a 10 out of 10 experience! Located near the event center off of 25th Ave in San Mateo. There are a few designated parking spots for Bizza itself. The shop isn't very big. There are very few tables inside and 1 table outside, so it's a good idea to grab and go if you're not in a hurry to eat. Plenty of options from pizzas to calzones to sandwiches, burgers, desserts and milkshakes. There's definitely something for everyone. The pizza was made fresh, it was delicious and came out fairly quick. The onion rings and waffle fries definitely hit the spot while we waited for our pizza to come out. Although it was empty when we came on Father's Day and we had a chance to dine in, we would definitely order to go next time around. read more

I was just passing through the area and was a little hungry when I passed by Bizza. A quick and inexpensive slice of pizza sounded like just the ticket. The pizza was pretty solid, but the real surprise was how excellent the onion rings were. Honestly some of the better ones I've had out to eat. Came here today to get a diet coke and some fries and no one was there. We waited inside for 10minutes. We tried yelling if anyone was around, and I even called the store while I was inside to see if that would work. Not a soul was inside that store and it was odd. The worker was kind and service was pretty fast - we ordered and then went across the street for coffee and by the time we got back it was ready and waiting for us. I noticed the kitchen area is huge compared to sitting area which is rather small with few tables. I understand that their focus is on to go and delivery orders. Bizza's menu is the most unusual with items with Mediterranean influences. Toppings like lamb meat and Za'atar which is typical in Mediterranean cuisine. Service is polite and quick. It's only took almost ten minutes to receive my order. I ordered Meatza which tasted good but not memorable. Crust was the star of the show with well above average toppings. This review is for the vegan pizza options. I read a lot of the good reviews but was still pretty skeptical based on the photos. I don't know, they just didn't look that good to me. But, I'm glad I tried it! I think the main thing that was off-putting was how thick the crust looked and how many toppings were on the pizzas. It just looked all a little too much. Indeed the crust was thicker than what I prefer, but it was better than I thought and kind of necessary to hold up to all the toppings. I got the vegan buffalo chicken pizza, which was really yummy. The fake chicken and bacon visually did look weird (they did not look anything like chicken or bacon...), but I definitely got that smoky bacon flavor. Bizza is one of my favorite pizza joints in the Bay Area! The menu is quite expansive, featuring a wide variety of meat and vegan options. Their pizza has all of the familiar, satisfying qualities of a traditional pizza but with a Mediterranean twist. The seating there is fairly limited, so we usually prefer to takeout and enjoy in the comfort of our own home. The pizzas are prepared quite swiftly as well - we placed an order online and it was ready for pickup within 20 minutes! We've tried both the lamb gyro pizza and lamb bizza, which are equally delicious! The Wild Wild West is good as well but the BBQ sauce is a bit too sweet for my liking. This place is fire. The first pizza place ever I've been to which is vegan centric, and damn if each of their sandwiches, calzones, sandwiches, and pizzas are not slammin. Seriously tasty. We got their "pepperoni" pizza, not sure how on earth it was gonna taste; we did not miss actual pepperoni, so delish was it. Their "cheesesteak" sandwich, with oozing melting goodness, OMG, so freaking good. Their "meatball" marinara sandwich wow, if we didn't know they weren't vegan, no way would we have guessed, super zesty and yummy with awesome quality rolls. Customer service awesome and super responsive, e.g. we ate there but our aging ears found the music too loud and when we asked them to turn the volume down, they obliged. There are no salt and pepper shakers on the table and they also don't have any, but it was incredibly kind and sweet for someone from the kitchen to come around to our table with the kitchen salt shaker (yes, they did this :-) and temporarily lend us their salt shaker lol :-) The [prices are incredibly reasonable especially for their portion size. Parking was easy out front. My only little bit of feedback: it would be a game changing and inexpensive addition to their business if they buy some salt and pepper shakers for each table, plus some chili flakes and a bottle of hot sauce, maybe some parmesan cheese in a bottle and dried oregano--it would go such a long way in allowing each diner to customer their food. It would be inexpensive because they don't have a lot of tables there, e.g. less than six. This is our go to healthy place for all things pizza :-)! read more

Otherwise, the only time I recall actually enjoying pizza when I wasn't feeling under the weather was when I ate it in Italy (and yes, I am fully aware of how entitled that sounds). In my defense, most pizza in the US is just too greasy for me. Enter Bizza. Not only do they have non-oily pizza, they also have a TON of vegan/vegetarian options! I also love how you can customize it - you can even do half/half of 2 different combos. Not only that, but the service is stellar. This family-owned pizzeria knows what they're doing and it shows. I recently had an issue with an order and the owner, Sam, quickly remedied it. He took excellent care of me and I will definitely be a returning customer. Been reading great reviews about this place so my family went there tonight to give it a try. The rave reviews were correct! The parking lot right next door was very convenient and the restaurant itself was very bright, clean and inviting. My family of 4 luckily was able to grab the only 4 chairs at the side dining bench. The other customers that came in while we ate there were all take out/delivery orders. The menu of pizza choices was very unique and we settled on a half/half medium pie of Tony's Supreme and Go Green. We also got a personal size cheese and pepperoni for the kids. These pizzas cooked up real fast in their special pizza ovens. Found out it only takes 6 minutes after the pies are prepared. The Tony's Supreme was full of flavor and very hearty with all the meats. The Go Green was lighter but still very good. My fave of the 3 flavors was actually the cheese and pepperoni because I loved the simple taste of the cheese and pepperoni. The crust was also crispier with less ingredients. The crispy cornmeal crust really stood out and made an impression on me. We chatted with Sam who turned out to be the owner and he was very nice and friendly! He said they are planning to expand the indoor dining area in the future. Learned that this location was about to turn 1 year old and also learned about the SF Haight/Ashbury location as well. When I asked why I was being charged $9 extra, I was told that the board had old prices and price was not able to be adjusted. Came here expecting for birria pizza because.. Bizza! We thought it was birria and pizza combined = bizza :') safe to say I was caught off guard when I saw a bunch of Mediterranean themed menu. The menu was a tad confusing because there's gyro pizza and lamb pizza. We are not a big fan of tomato sauce so we ordered the lamb gyro pizza instead. The pizza is AMAAAZING. I love the elasticity of the dough, the softness of the cheese, and the creaminess of the sauce. It's truly lovely. The downside of it was that the gyro doesn't seem to be that much. Service was ok, the guy doesn't seem to be able to understand us very well when I asked him about birria or gyro, but they were really nice and making the pizza really quickly. Love the individual slice pizzas from this place. The thin crust isn't soggy or floppy like some of the other places that I've gotten an individual slice from. Having the Mediterranean options is also good especially the lamb gyro. Another good item would be the wings. We walked in to no greeting. Then we looked at the menu and decided what to order and stood at the counter for about 5 more minutes wondering if someone was going to help us. Finally someone acknowledged us but got caught up joking around with a coworker for about 2 more minutes before coming to the counter to help us. We ordered what we wanted and I told him that we had a Groupon. He took a picture of it and sent it to his manager who immediately replied and said we don't accept Groupon vouchers anymore. I just bought it 2 weeks ago and was excited to try it because I heard that the pizza was pretty good. We left without trying the pizza and will not return. It was a double whammy between being ignored and treated unimportantly and getting rejected on our discount. They have some customer service issues to work out. We ordered online and it was really easy, it was easier than ordering through Doordash. We ordered the supreme pizza with vegan cheese and added some more vegetables. The pizza crust was crispy and flavorful, the cheese wasn't was not overly gooey for being vegan cheese, there were enough vegetables and other toppings. They are not shy about the toppings. The pizza was supposed to get here within 45- 50 minutes, but ended up getting to our house within 30 minutes. We got there early and hung out for a few minutes inside, there's a nice spot to sit to wait and maybe 2 seats if you're staying and eating. The interior is very welcoming and well-decorated, I love the branding! This business is clearly passionate about their product. Employees were friendly and efficient, we got our order in no time. The pizza itself is delicious! Brought it home and put on some Netflix, but we could barely select a show before finishing half the slices. it's so addicting!
