Karla could not have been a better match for Saturday morning's tattoo experience. I had only been in Idaho for a few days helping a relative move to California. One evening two hours before Bitterroot Tattoo's closing time I called in to see if they were still accepting walk-ins. They told me to come on down and show my reference pictures. I wandered in some time later and sat down with Karla. I was deliberating between two different tattoo interests and she gave me some great advice and by the end of it we had narrowed it down to a throat chakra placed above my shoulder blades over the atlas. She was not able to work on me that night, but she went out of her way to make sure I had an appointment the next day if I was able to make it. I spent the next morning with her so relieved that I was able to make it even through the moving process. She is gentle and genuine. The shop itself is very calm and has interior decorations reminiscent of Cabinet of Curiosities. Karla gently rested her hand on my back to steady the needle, we spoke some of current issues and of ourselves, but grew meditative over the course of our time together. I felt very safe in Karla's hands and was so grateful that for that short time our paths crossed. After the session I felt my energy revitalized. Her art will forever be on my body. I have gone to Bitterroot twice now, once to fix up a tattoo I had done at a previous shop I didn't like, and a second time for an original piece. Both times I worked with Karla. She is super professional, sweet, and as a fellow female she always made me feel super comfortable despite being a bit out of my element. The shop is really clean and has a lot of cool artwork to enjoy. Be sure to go in and have a consultation, the shop was super busy even during the summer so it took me a few weeks to get in, but it was entirely worth the wait. Karla turned the images and thoughts I had in mind to life and I couldn't be happier with what ended up on my body. I got my second piece done on my ribs which is supposed to be really painful so she was even able to numb me and was constantly checking in on me to make sure I was okay and if we needed to stop and take a break. I am so incredibly impressed with this tattoo parlor. It is everything you'd picture as the "ideal" place to go for some new art, because not only is the interior of the building warm and welcoming, this hidden parlor has phenomenal artists. Allen did my artwork and was incredibly attentive and just downright spectacular. The prices are also incredibly low for such great quality, which allows you more space to tip for such great work. This place might be a challenge to find for some people but I promise it is so worth it. I walked straight through Bouchers without even buying a coffee. The atmosphere of this shop is unlike any tattoo studio I have ever visited. It is relaxed, open, and comfortable. The artists at work here are really great and approachable, which seems like a rarity in the tattoo community. Simon was very open to working with a specific design and aesthetic that I wanted and I love the work on my leg. I will, without a doubt, be visiting this shop again in the future. read more

I was out of town visiting a friend and originally only intended to get a consultation on a tattoo. But I ended up calling my friend 15 mins later to ask if he was free to go with me to get a tattoo the next day. My artist was Nick and he did an amazing job. He's a super chill dude, too, and it was nice to talk to him. He also gave me a lower price because he had to take me about 30 mins later than expected. I received my tattoo from Carla, who not only applied it, but also designed it for me. I love her design and I loved the way that I was treated in the store. When I had a dizzy spell at the start of the tattoo application, I had Carla, Simon and a third guy all around me, taking care of me with water, a peach and lots of talk.
