Stayed at the Bitterroot Inn while in town for a friend's wedding. The staff were very helpful. We were very late checking in due to wedding preparation and they called to check on us before we arrived for check-in. I've stayed in a lot of hotels in my life but never had the front desk call to check on us. Also they had cookies out when we got there for check-in. That was nice. Breakfast was on par for similar establishments. Would repeat! read more

I've stayed twice had the most amazing experience both times absolutely family friendly love this hotel Highly recommend

I have stayed at this hotel a handful of times and I believed the customer service was excellent!!! However, when I stayed there most recently I was so disappointed in the customer service that I felt there was no way I would stay there again. I arrived at the hotel and requested a king bed on the 1st floor w/o road noise. Well the king I requested was on roadside so Don said I could have the queen/s on the courtyard side. Priced the same. I looked at the room only to find one queen bed. I went back to to Don to say that normally there are two queen beds in a handicap location to accommodate 2 persons needing more room for their handicap. Husband had knee replaced in January so we would need 2 beds if the king wasn't available courtyard side. So he found a room with 2 beds on patio side and that there would be an up charge of $15 because there was a patio door...... really??? It's winter dude! Whatever!?! And then Don called me during my dinner out to make sure I needed the room with the patio door or did I need the king roadside. Dude, I thought my check in was complete. In the am I went to dispute up charge and some gal from the south ( didn't catch her name) cause she was defensive, fully armed & ready to shoot me as soon as I arrived at the front desk. ( there must have been "pillow talk" between Don & the Southern Belle. She was defending Don's, "ring around the Rosie with me." Well, the southern belle was going to be right. She finally conceded about the up charge after her letting me know she was right and I must be a lousy storyteller and now I should walk around with my head down in shame. I don't recommend this place because of the lack of care and the gossip that goes on about customers during the dark hours over the "upgrade of a patio door".... In the middle of winter......Creepy!! read more

No matter how much I looked around the room, I didn't see anything worth $300 per night! The bed was VERY firm, if that is your thing, this is your place, although the pillows were nice. The chairs were hard and uncomfortable. Everything thing else was basic Super 8 stock. The lobby was beautiful, warm and inviting. The staff was very friendly. The pool, hot tub, & sauna were 25 hrs, which probably factor in and I would have LOVED to use them if it wasn't for the fact that I was so tired. Bottom line: I will not stay here again and nor will I recommend it at this price. Hamilton is beautiful, but this is too much money for what you get. We just stayed in an upscale, posh room in Tri-Cities last month for just over half the price as this. Another positive note is the staff don't pound on your door - that was nice as the "Do Not Disturb" placard was missing from our room. While obviously subject to guest's behavior, the hotel was NOT quiet. Floors pounded and doors slammed and I could hear people knocking on other people's door, waking me up more than once. I am disappointed to say the least....was really looking forward to staying here as we love coming to Hamilton. NOTE: Memorial Day might be an excuse, but this was Thursday night and check out on Friday. Also, I am a Priceline VIP member. read more

Just stayed at this hotel. Absolutely loved it! Everything was so clean and nicely done! Bridget at the front desk was amazing! We had called ahead to find out if there were any restaurants open since it was Easter and she called around for us and called us back with the information. When we arrived, she was so nice and accommodating! We would love to come back and stay!! read more

Stayed in the winter so rates were probably cheaper than the summer season. Which was great for an upgrade with a slider door. Had a small pond out back and access to a trail with a short walk to the river. Also located next to a nice restaurant. Includes a full service breakfast, pool, spa, sauna and laundry facilities. The entrance had a fire place with seating for a nice atmosphere to hang out. Staff is friendly and helpful. All around a great experience and will definitely stay again. read more

The covid warning is cute but this hotel is not doing their best or booking at 70%. They are over booking. Leaving no time to clean in between rooms and if you think you're getting a river view...this is it read more

Last time i was in town this place was awesome. Since then it has been taken over by a new company and I wails suggest staying somewhere else (the Quality Inn connected to the gas station was nicer) although the view is amazing. Well, the view would have been amazing if we had gotten the rooms we booked. Our travel person booked us deluxe king rooms (balcony and view of the mountains), however, when we got there we were told that the week before the manager had decided that government travelers were not going to get deluxe rooms any more. Sho, we did what people do, we asked to speak with her (the manger). The lady at the counter said, "...so would we. She was in vacation for a while then came back but then she was going to some training things." She had no idea when the manager would be back. Ok, so we had suck rooms, but at least we had rooms (they have rooms with windows that look out at a wall about 2 feet away, why!) Hardest bed I have ever slept on, and funny little square pillows. Think sleeping on the floor with yuppie head up on a footstool, and this began a week of hell. Got up in the morning when my phone alarm went off (they had USB charging ports, so that was cool.) Thought I would turn on the heat lamp and jump in the shower. Turned the little timer knob past 10 and on came the light. Not a heat light, just a plain old light (more about this later.) Got dressed, took a look aft the wall outside the window, and went down for breakfast. Have to say, I love having sausage gravy and eggs available, and the peiple working the meal were very nice. Went to the desk to ask about the heat lamp. Imagine my surprise, the manger was there. Nope, just kidding, they still didn't know when she would be in. She had decided, "A while back..." to replace all the heat lamp bulbs with regular ones because the heat ones were too expensive. Went back to my table because one of the other guys had come down. I thought my room sucked, lol comparatively, mine was fine. He had the same Fred Flintstone bed, but his bathroom came with a toilet plunger. In a bag. Covered with dirty toilet paper and....yup, poop. Seems he didn't have USB ports, they were missing and there were no outlets near the bed. So, up he went to the desk. The lady was shocked and told him they would take care of it when they cleaned the room, ok...oversight maybe. And they got him am extension cord because they didn't know if there were any more of the USB things. We goo to work for the day and come back. Plunger is still there and still covered in filth. So, we all walked down to the desk. When he told the lady, she was brilliant. "They probably thought it was your plunger you brought with you." All I could think was, "Yup... we couldn't bring a bottle of water on the plane; but the shit covered plunger was fine." So, "...they will get it when they make up the room." He is a nicer guy than I, I said to bring it down and leave it on the check-in counter. At 7 they put out cookies, so what the heck let's give it a go. Down at the counter there is an older lady checking in who needed help getting her walker out of the trunk. The lady at the counter, who I am sure was trying to continue the level of service we had received so far, told her that she couldn't leave the desk so the lady would have to ask another customer for help. Just wow. Next day, plunger finally left. Next day, we finally left. read more

Locally owned and operated, this is one of the classiest motels in Hamilton. Decor is Montana western with lots of log accents and comfy rooms. Many of the rooms back to the west so you have the Bitterroot mountain range to view and a small balcony on which to sip your favorite beverage in your robe, perhaps with a friend. Watch the moose and deer graze. A very good hot breakfast is served in the mornings including eggs, creamed beef, breakfast meats and the other carbo goodies. The Mildenbergers, a long-time Bitterroot family originally had this facility as a Holiday Inn Express. Holiday Inn did not like the Mildenbergers serving a "non-standard" breakfast and wanted them to downscale it so as to be like all the other Holiday Inn Express locations. Mildenberger said they wanted their guests to have a better breakfast and they would not change. End of story is that they kissed off the Holiday Inn Express franchise and renamed it the Bitterroot River Inn. I am telling you this to make the point that you are getting a lot more, room-wise, conference-wise and amenity-wise from the Mildenbergers. They have a pretty large conference room that they can cater. If you have an executive conference or a smallish group, this is the place. the local realtors regularly use the Inn for classes and board meeting. When we have out-of-town company we book them here. You won't regret it. read more

We checked in and the room they gave us was not clean. There was dust everywhere, the floors were not vacuumed and there was a bottle of used conditioner in the shower. The toilet had black streams in the bowl. We were upset but did not say anything at first. But then we went to turn on the refrigerator and it didn't work. I don't remember but hearing a vacuum running only once on our floor and we were there seven days! That was enough for us...we paid $111 to $119 a night! The room was not the room we booked, it was smaller. The room we saw and thought we were getting when we booked it was a larger room. We went to the front desk and told them about the room and they were apologetic and gave us a different room. The employees at the front desk, like Erica, were always polite and very accommodating. The new room looked more like the one we booked and was clean, although there was a styrofoam cup left on the bathroom counter??? We have stayed there before and the rooms were never like this. Maybe there was a housekeeping change? read more

Today was the third time over the last six years I've stayed at the bitterroot river inn and conference center. They have consistently maintained a high level of quality and cleanliness. Their customer service at the front desk is off the charts with friendliness, energy, and willingness to please. Breakfast is included and one of the best I've come across over the years. read more

My husband stopped by and asked the manager, Bonnie Sue, about rates for extended stay. She told him "a stay for more than 28 days makes us a landlord, and I'm not a landlord". A little bit rude but okay... Next, he asked about the weekly rate/rate for 28 days, to which her reply was "you probably can't afford it". That was her answer!!! She actually said that!!!! She quickly tried backpedaling when he asked her how she knows what he can and can't afford, but the damage was already done, and the customer standing behind my husband was shocked as well. I've posted this on google.com and received a half-baked response from the owner apologizing for "any misunderstanding there may have been about our rates and availability". Dear Owner, how about you explain to me why your manager insulted my husband instead of doing her job and answering a simple question - earn my trust back by reaching out to me, we are Hamilton residents for 10+ years, we would love an in person apology. read more

Nice hotel, room was comfortable and clean, staff was very friendly. They allow pets without an additional fee (huge win), pool was nice (and clean) and hot tub was hot, workout room was also very nice. A little more money than the Super8 down the street but not by much when you account for the pet fee and well worth it. The kids had fun, thank you. read more

The pros: the staff is very nice. The rooms are clean. There are microwaves and mini fridge's in every room. They put cookies out at 7pm. You get free breakfast. The pool is open 24 hours. The cons: the beds aren't so comfortable, a bit on the overly firm side. Their tv channel selection sucks. read more

We are currently staying here for a wedding weekend. Clean, quiet and adequate. However, we specifically picked this location (Out of several. They aren't the only gig in town) so our toddler could swim. They apparently according to front desk "Forgot to turn the pool heat on" which means the pool is glacier cold for our little guy. He won't and can't go in. Hot tub is busted. Sauna isn't working. We bought a bottle of wine for the room, and they DON'T have ONE glass in the house. Everything is styrofoam! We had to go to KMart down the street and purchase wine glasses. It's "high season" so they are charging a premium for low quality service. Shame on you. Kristie Sotelo Great Falls read more

Nice place for the price, beautiful view of the mountains. Indoor pool is nice but could be a little warmer. I had a genuine laugh at the review that stated this place has a "Great" breakfast. The breakfast "buffet" as it is advertised is uninspired. That person needs to probably get out more and explore the world, or is perhaps a friend of the owners. But the lackluster stale toast, wet, cold, hard boiled eggs and 2 gallon tubs of FRUIT LOOPS and Cheerios does very little to detract from an otherwise very nice hotel with most of the amenities. I visit Montana once a year for a little over a week and this is my place of choice. Better than anything you will find in Hamilton, hands down. read more

We spent a night at this location and found the property to be quiet, clean and comfortable. We were greeted by a friendly staff and our check in experience was handled with efficiency and professionalism. On this trip we were traveling with a small dog and we were very happy that our room was clean and did not have dog odors, as been our experience in other locations. The room had basic amenities (hair dryer, shampoo, soap, lotion). The bed and linens were descent quality. Our room had both beautiful mountain and river views. This hotel is in my opinion the best in Hamilton. The bonus is it's pet friendly! read more

Pulled into parking lot to rest from a long drive for a minute before checking in. After about 2 minutes the maintenance man walked up and told us that the Manager had instructed him to ask us to instruct us to move our vehicle indicating that it appeared that we were trespassing. I indicated that we were about to walk over to check it but he persisted in telling us we should move along. I went in and told the "Manager" who had ordered the maintenance man to tell us to leave that we had stayed at the hotel a few days earlier and that we were preparing to check in for a stay after a long road trip. The "Manager" was rude and belligerent with the attitude of a total a-hole. I let her know in no uncertain terms that we would not be staying there again and that I'd be sure to let everyone that I know to avoid this dump. I advise the same for any others considering staying at this place. read more

Hotel is not terrible, but you can easily tell it is an older facility that recently received a facelift. Was upset when I specifically asked about status of pool/hot tub on the phone before booking and was either blatantly lied to or spoke with someone who had no clue what they were talking about; both were out of order. Won't be staying here again. The Best Western down the street is as nice and an has an established reputation. read more

I'm not sure why all the bad reviews of this place. My mother in law booked us a room here for a family reunion. We travel frequently with three boys ages 9, 10 & 13. That can be a challenge in itself . The room we had was a spa suite and it was perfect! First, it was so nice and clean with a bed almost as comfortable as mine at home. And mine is an $8000 bed! There was a vanity outside the bathroom so I could have my own space. The room also had a little kitchen area, larger than most. Our living area had a couch, coffee table AND two comfy chairs to sit in and watch the Olympics. There was a nice restaurant we could walk to and Dairy Queen for desert. Breakfast was just like all the other free breakfast menus that hotels offer and they served homemade cookies at night! Love this place and I will definitely stay here again if I am ever in Hamilton. read more

This hotel is definitely a nice place to stay a night or two. As mentioned, the decor is "Montana Western" in the main part of the lobby. The rooms are well furnished and the beds are incredibly comfortable. Everything was clean and spacious, plus you get free breakfast in the morning. The kids had a great time in the pool, plus there was a hot tub and a sauna...all open 24 hours. There are beautiful views in the entire valley and there is a lovely, large park right next to the hotel with a pond (and fish). Right across the parking area is Hamilton Wine and Liquor, so if you want a night cap, you don't have far to go! read more

While passing through on a vacation, we stopped here and spent the night. My wife and I both thought it was a nice place. Plusses were nice beds, clean rooms and helpful front desk staff. The breakfast was average for a hotel with breakfast included. The only minus was the hot tub, it didn't have much "jet force". We'll likely be back. read more

I was very pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was, after randomly picking in on a booking website. The place is very clean and nicely decorated. The front desk lady was nice and helpful, and got us into our room before check-in time. Our room was great, with a comfortable king sized bed, fridge and microwave. The pool, hottub and work out room were open 24 hours, a definite plus for the night owls. Pets are allowed for no extra charge and there's a huge park right across the parking lot which is so nice for those traveling with dogs. The continental breakfast was about the same as at most hotels, with the usual offerings of cereal, toast, juice and coffee. The only negative thing I can think of is the walls seemed quite thin. We could hear our neighbor snoring all night. But that's to be expected in most hotels. Other than that, our stay at this place was great. It's rare to find this nice of a place for this price. We will definitely stay here again. read more

This is probably the BEST hotel in the area and at a very affordable rate. Great views of the mountains, comfortable room, and good continental breakfast. The staff were very friendly too! read more

we enjoyed our stay here. we didn't have an advance reservation, we just walked in off the street and were offered the largest suite in the house for an extremely reasonable price (under $100 if i remember correctly). the room was a bit outdated, under-furnished and had a few maintenance issues, but clean and comfortable. the staff was extra friendly. there was a bar/restaurant/casino/liquor store next door that we had drinks at after dinner. the view of the mountains was beautiful and there was river access on the premises, but somehow we never wandered down the trail. this isn't luxury, but it is clean and comfy and that's all that really matters, right? read more

I had the pleasure of staying here 4 different nights this year as I travelled here from Seattle for medical sales. Everything is fine with the place, and is probably the nicest play to stay in Hamilton. I will say this, though. On my last trip I got to town at 1am, pulled into the Bitterroot River Inn where there was only 10 cars staying there. This was on a Sunday night, mind you. Well, the employee, David, tried to charge me $45 MORE than what I previously payed in each of my last 4 visits. At 1am and hardly anyone staying there and he insults me with a price so high that I would only pay at the NICEST hotels in Seattle. Even after I explained to him the previous rates I had been charged, he still tried to explain to me why the price is so high this time. On a Sunday night at 1AM with hardly anyone staying there!!! Every employee seems nice and accomodating, but due to the insult of employee David I will never stay here again. I'll just stay in Missoula at the Hampton, maybe get a suite for what David tried to charge. read more

We spent 2 nights and had 2 rooms it was a nice room clean and moderately priced. The first night the smoke alarm needed new batteries. The noise making it impossible to sleep.
