There's something magical about wandering the old Gold Rush streets of Nevada City. Me and the boy…read morewere strolling through the historic downtown, poking our heads into little shops, when we stumbled across Treat. Talk about perfect timing. The sun was out, we'd done our fair share of walking, and an ice cream cone sounded like just what the doctor ordered. I grabbed a fresh waffle cone loaded with some kind of almond fudge mocha masterpiece don't ask me the official name because I was too busy enjoying it! The boy got something different, and judging by how fast it disappeared, I'd say he approved too. The waffle cone was fresh, the ice cream was rich and creamy, and every bite hit the spot. It's one of those little places that fits Nevada City perfectly simple, welcoming, and exactly what you hope to find while exploring an old mining town. If you're strolling through downtown on a warm afternoon, do yourself a favor and stop at Treat. Cool off, grab a cone, sit on a bench, and watch the world go by. First class all the way. After all... they didn't name it Treat for nothing. Go ahead treat yourself.

Coming to three forks was such a treat being able to get something yummy that's also locally…read moresourced. We ordered a house sausage pizza and to add the salami to the pizza which was a great choice loved the pizza we watched it get made right in front of us and their bacon and cheddar melt. I personally though the bacon and cheddar melt was fine I probably wouldn't order it again looking back on it just simply on the fact it was $21 and the pizza was $23 it just felt very boring and overpriced in comparison to the pizza. I do love the sustainability of this place but find it odd the water cups are plastic after all the effort put into reusable, sustainable, organic, and farm fresh It definitely eat here again especially with the fact the menu is always changing the pastries here were a hit every other table had something from the bakery or a pizza. This is a great spot to come on a date or with a bunch of friends. I haven't tried the brews here yet but I'm looking forward to it. The staff here are very sweet and food comes out quickly. Parking is right outside of Three forks and plentiful even on a Sunday afternoon.

I stopped at Three Forks during my lunch break from jury duty because it was close and convenient…read more I ordered a BLT and a small iced mocha and was honestly shocked when the total came to $34. I paid because I only had an hour for lunch and needed to eat. I got my mocha and sat down to wait for my sandwich. As I waited, I noticed several people who ordered after me receiving their food while I was still sitting there. About 15 minutes later, I finally received my to-go sandwich. When I opened the container, it was obvious it had been sitting there for a while. The sandwich was sweaty, and half of it was soggy. Apparently, they had forgotten to bring it to me. By that point, my mocha was already gone before I had even started eating. The BLT itself was made on regular-sized sandwich bread, and the tomatoes and bacon were good. But $34 for a basic BLT and a small iced mocha is outrageous, especially considering the wait and the condition of the sandwich when I finally received it. I will not be going back. The prices are simply far too high for what you get.

The cutest little shop perfect for a light lunch!…read more They were open on Sunday for the Christmas market but had a limited menu so we ordered pork tamales and veggie tamales, which were so fresh and tasty! The pork was much heavier than the veggie so choose according to hunger. We also tried the rye oatmeal chocolate chip cookie (hearty and rustic) and a unique masa cookie with hibiscus glaze, which is one of the most interesting desserts I've eaten recently. The subtle earthiness of the masa was offset by the hibiscus tang and sugar glaze Logistics: - one table for 4 inside only, there might have been a back patio but unclear - limited street parking nearby - I think tamales and masa cookie were gluten free but double check

Glad that The Truffle Shop was open on Monday when I stopped in looking for some shade an a cooler spot to be for a bit. The collection of hand-crafted truffles was not only beautiful and wildly unique with its flavor profiles, but complimented by the artistic space of the petite shop. It was all a visual delight, before even getting to choosing the chocolates. As it was a warm day, I didn't order as many as I might have otherwise as I was sure that the truffle treats would melt before we could enjoy them properly - savoring each tasty bite. I did get a dark chocolate/cherry one for me, and Matcha tea flavor for Dear Hubby, who wasn't with me at the time. I had a nice chat with the gentleman running the shop. He may have been the owner, coming from the back with a tray of more truffles to fill out the display cases. Thankfully on a warm afternoon, they had chilled bottled water for sale, too. After making my purchase and taking a few photos of the whimsical interior, I sat and enjoyed my truffle at the little bistro table in the outside hallway. It was a perfect little respite before more strolling on Broad Street again.
