My only suggestion is cooking it a little less time because the outer edge was quite hard and eating it gave me jaw pain. Another thing I thought was odd was how everyone's food came out at different times. It was an 8 person book club and some people were not eating at all while others were nearly done. Thoughtful ownership sets the stage for a cozy experience at Flights! While flights is a wine bar, and they have a great selection, the food is a great reason to visit too! It's a fun cozy setting, and the fried chicken Thursday doesnt disappoint (go early!). The team is always attentive and friendly. They also have a great private room where we recently hosted a birthday party for about 25 and it was a great experience. I really appreciated that they let us in early to decorate and it felt like our server was always there when anyone needed her. Highly recommend for a date night, girls night or a gathering. First wine bar in Bend where I felt like they weren't BS'ing their way through it. They know it and know it well. The vibe is immaculate from the music to the decor. Now let's talk food. We ordered calamari and it honestly melts in your mouth. I've had my fair share of calamari and the flavor and texture is just chefs kiss. Too bad I don't have an option for 6 stars. This place is awesome! We wound up here by accident as we were waiting for reservations next door, and we were blown away. Everyone was really friendly and knowledgeable, and the live music; bluesy, classic guitar added so much to the experience. We ordered a flight of the red and all were awesome, and we left with a bottle for a special occasion in the future. We didn't eat due to our previous reservations, (though they gave us a great recommendation for a dish to order next door) but we will definitely be back on our next trip to Bend. What a gem this place is, far from just a wine bar. From service to the ambiance and the food, this place is amazing. Our waitress was very kind and friendly, as we came in at a rather later time and she brought plates out perfectly timed. From the 'snacks & bites' we chose the eggplant Halloumi crostini, fried calamari, simple salad and the warm marinated olives, all of which being equally delicious. My favorite being the crostini, it just hit all the spots. We then moved onto the 'sharables' portion of the menu and went with the pan seared day boat scallops and the soy ginger glazed black cod. I truthfully can't say which was better as both were cooked to perfection. Although, the soy glaze was something I'll be trying to replicate at home. Dessert consisted of the coconut cake and strawberry cheesecake crème brûlée. I wasn't a fan of the strawberry filling at the bottom of the crème brûlée, it was a little too jelly like for my taste buds. We could've eaten the whole coconut cake to ourselves! They also have special events and fried chicken (certain dates) which I'll be back for. Overall great suggestion and place to check out for a date night or just a night out. Based on my experience, all of the wines are "drink now" style, so not huge, complex and age worthy, but pleant to pop and pour. There's a large mix in the $50 range, +\-$10. I went to Flights last week and got sit on the patio with heat lamps. It was whimsical. This place has a great combination of ambiance, food, and drink selection.
