Our second time here at the Bistro 93 very happy with everything and I believe it is only going to get better. In short We started with the garlic parm wings they might be some of the best wings we ever had. For an entrée the turkey best melt which was good. Finished with a piece of fresh baked peach pie! That slice of pie was small but full of flavor and really was great, all peaches with a great consistency not all syrup like a lot of places serve. read more

This place is outstanding. My wife and myself arrived early on a Sunday afternoon so we were seated immediately. The waitress informed us of the specials. The menu is intriguing. We both ordered the same special; Caribbean Skirt Steak. The special came with a choice of soup or salad. It was dreary January day so I went with the soup. The African Peanut Butter Soup! It was spiced perfectly. I couldn't wait for the entree. It was very tasty. I overheard the waitress list the dessert options. My tastebuds stood up on their hind legs when she said," Limnoncello mascarpone cake. I ordered it and my tastebuds were rewarded. The black coffee that came at the end of meal was delicious. Upon entering Bistro 93, I noticed its casual and little outdated, however busy with guests in dining room and outdoor igloo. Clearly was busy as bar area hadn't been touched and used glasses were just there! I was walking in for takeout and all of this caught my attention as I stood waiting for our dinner to go. People came and went as I waited by bar and coffee table in front entrance. It was almost as if they've run out of space over years of being in the village of Akron and need a larger restaurant. So I finally paid grabbed food and headed home. I ordered the fish on special, fresh grouper (in orange/mango glaze) served with white rice & refried black beans, I took one bite of the rice & it tasted rancid so I didn't finish, the fish was mushy and didn't have enough of the glaze on it (Glaze was very flavorful, as fish wasn't). Our Pittsburg salad was good, my husband ordered a full rack of strawberry bbq ribs and he said they were some of the best ribs he's ever had. I had ordered a cup of Cream of Mushroom soup with my fish special, it was so salty I couldn't eat it, I think someone spilled a salt shaker in it, the family tried soup and said the same thing. I couldn't finish it! I would go back because it's close and convenient, ordering something different. My parents love their fish fry's from here! So if you stop in or order out, remember their probably going to be busy, order an hour or 2 before your ready to pick up. I'm not sure whether we would have found Bistro 93 if a passerby hadn't stopped us to ask for direction to this eatery. To that passerby, I would always be grateful. Bistro 93 is located "off the beaten path", in the middle of a residential area instead of a commercial district. Even its outside appearance at a glance gives off the vibe of being someone's home However, a step into the building immediately tells a different story. Inside, Bistro 93 is warm, a bit rustic, unpretentious, and welcoming. Most of the indoor tables are designed for small parties. Outdoor seating is also available out on the patio, but I have not checked it out. During both our visits to Bistro 93, there were only two people managing the front as hosts, server, bartender, and cashier. While at one point things seemed to get a tad hectic for our hosts, at no point at all did we feel rushed or not taken care of. On both occasions, our foods and drinks were delivered timely, and we were given full service as if we had been the only people in the entire restaurant. Now to the food. Wow. I have been to fancy restaurants whose dishes pale to the dishes that the chef of Bistro 93 produces. On our first visit, we ordered two bowls of seafood chowder, plus the following dishes to share: a scallop ceviche, the ahi tuna, and a charcuterie board. The seafood chowder was a tad saltier and thinner than I had expected, but it was tasty and generous with seafood chunks. The scallop ceviche was fresh and was gone within seconds of arriving at the table. The ahi tuna was our favorite; it was fresh, with a nice accompaniment of ginger and garlic and basil with every bite. We also could not believe how big the portion was, especially considering it was part of the so-called "Small Plate". The charcuterie board was very generous, again, particularly considering it's part of the so-called "Small Plate". The cheeses were of good quality and very tasty, and the board was also served with jam, dried apricot, and pickled peppers. I ended up taking half of the charcuterie board home for next day's lunch. On the next visit to Bistro 93, as tempted as I was by other items on the menu, I ended up ordering the ahi tuna for my dinner (also ordering only one dish, as I still remembered how big the portion had been). It was as good as I had remembered it, though the wasabi was a tad spicier than last time. My husband opted for the jambalaya, which came in a large steaming bowl (it was then that we realized why the ahi tuna was considered a "Small Plate"). He claimed that the jambalaya was quite good and spicy, but as the portion was so large, he could not finish it in one sitting. Overall, we gave Bistro 93 a solid thumbs up. We will definitely return. PS if you plan to visit in the height of summer: This place does not seem to have any AC and is ventilated by ceiling fans only. read more

Ahi-MAZING. If food is your love language, go here because it is obviously theirs. The ahi nachos were perfect. The shark special was spot on. What I find even more important was that kindness overflowed to our 3 year old, who was a tad bit loud. Two Hawain Punch pickles later, and she had made best friends with the chef. Very good food, great service and nice atmosphere. First time here and I came because everyone local has said the food is excellent. A real mix for the menu some great seafood choices but also has some comfort foods. I would recommend checking it out. Prices are very fair. Many have said that the sea bass, scallops, swordfish is good. But the burgers and salads are great too. Check it out something for everyone on the menu. read more

Driving home from Buffalo we stopped here for a late lunch early dinner after reading the reviews on Yelp. The staff is super friendly and won't steer you wrong with their suggestions! We had one of their fall specials....pork schnitzel with cabbage and noodles. It was delicious. Also tried Devils on horseback as an appetizer to be adventurous. (Dates with bacon and a special sauce!) even though we didn't have room for it we ordered a piece of the homage pie...yum yum yum! We will definitely come here again! Don't judge a book by its cover! The exterior reminds me of any other neighborhood bar & grill. The interior is comfortable. The menu and the food are out of this world! I was not prepared for the menu at all. It's filled with originality, creativity and not your average bar & grill food. You can tell that the menu was designed by a culinary expert and the cook is pretty darn good as well! My lunch was #3 on the Grilled Cheese menu was my choice and the only thing that disappointed me was that I ate it too fast! I selected rye for my bread. It was a feast of flavor! Marble rye, goat cheese, red peppers, provolone, and avacado! Unbelievable flavor! Smooth, crunchy, salty, savory all at once. The fries were so tasty and the pickle was a surprise! I love dill pickles and always 'rate' my meal in part based on the quality and taste of the pickle. The pickle is red. Yes red. I thought I tasted raspberry. I asked the owner and she told me the secret behind the house brine. Original and tasty! It took the bite out of the pickle and added a slight fruity taste. The summer seafood pasta dish with shrimp, clams, and mussels was superb as was the Hawaiian Seafood Dynamite. Absolutely excellent food - decor is blah but the great interesting menu makes up for it! Had a delicious duck confit (small plate) and my friend had delicious scallops with delectable corn. Loved that there were many small plate options, which were actually more than adequate size wise. Wish the specialty salads were available in small sizes but the dinner salad was good. Reisling was delicious- bread was ok (needed to be warm) but the flavored butter was delicious. Will most definitely be back - a real find! read more

Wow! What a great restaurant find with farm to table greatness. The salmon brie avocado grilled cheese takes grilled cheese to new heights of deliciousness. My boyfriend had the pineapple avocado goat cheese burger and raved about it with every bite. And the house-cured pickles are amazing. The owners (one of which is the chef) are friendly and have lots of restaurant experience. The menu is filled with great food staples along with wonderful specials. Fresh and delicious food. Okay, kind of hate to share this, but you'all need to go! Bistro 93 in Akron! These people took over the old village inn and it is divine! Still a bar but food out of this world. I had lunch there today and had the special, ingredients just delivered this morning and fresh made... crawfish and alligator gumbo. It was so good I got an order to go to take Home and maybe or maybe not, share with my husband. They have a very unique and interesting menu with comfort or adventurous offers and several daily specials. I would have liked to try their dessert, but could not get another bite in! A wonderful experience and totally unexpected for Akron. The chef is really creative and uses the freshest ingredients. We all had seafood entrees and the fish and scallops were fresh caught. The owners are the wait staff and they are friendly and attentive. The wine offering needs some enhancement but the few choices were complimentary to the food and all are very reasonably priced.
