It was late. It was open. We went in.
Close to midnight in Triana, a wonderous dinner gently filling our tummies, a perfect romantic night wandering the back streets across the river from Sevilla; there was only one thing missing.....dessert.
As we rounded a corner the bright lights of Bar Bistec (Steak Bar) lit up the street and our imagination. Slipping in we were the only customers in the joint and the folks working there looked like they were winding down for the evening. However, being Spain and only being midnight they offered us the full menu as if they had just opened up for dinner.
Waving off any attempts to tempt us with tapas, entrecots or cocidos we instead chose a flan...to share.
For the brief half hour we spent here we got the feeling this place has some history. We also felt that they did not completely rely upon the tourist trade. There was something that breathed life experience in this place.
But now on to the important stuff. The flan arrived in good time and fashion. It was close to picture perfect which made us suspect it may not have been made in-house. But whatever its origin it hit the spot.
We are not extolling Bistec to be the destination eatery when in Sevilla, La Cruz holds that distinction for us, however, this makes a great port in the storm. read more
